r/officechairs is under attack by spam artists. How we go after them next is going to be partly up to you.

Very good epp in last weeks WSJ podcast about Reddit subs and the prevalence of brands spamming subs as a way to sneak brand content into LLMs.

https://www.wsj.com/podcasts/the-journal/ai-loves-reddit-but-redditors-arent-so-sure/5695c5e0-5ee6-41e6-97fa-ac04fde0c5f4

It's happening here and we are not controlling it as well as we would like to.

Years ago it was Autonomous, we banned them for a while, engaged with them and they have been respectful of the community standards for years now.  Some brands participate here with this sub while also being respectful of the rediqute and the rules, think Steelcase, Anthros or Musso.

Now, it feels like we see quite a bit of content about Libornovo, Secretlab and ProtoArc.  Regularly, multiple accounts and posts, but similar kinds of content being inserted into the sub.

This raises questions to me.  Our r/officechairs team has been leading this sub for about 6 years.  This last 2 years, the amount of slop / promotional content has been off the charts.

When we stated moding here, u/classroom and u/cranda58 and I were able to keep up with the spam and the self promotion to a minimum. Now even with more people on the team plus the auto-mod functionality, we are just not able to keep up with it all.

Today, spammers have become very sophisticated.  It's much harder to see what is bot / spam content and its both very cheap and potentially very profitable for them to attack this sub with their slop of nonsense.

What are brands you notice that seem to be over represented here lately?

How aggressive do you want this sub to be moderated?

There were 800 posts and 6300 comments in the last 30 days.  Normally, the mod team will not see all of the posts and only a small fraction of comments, so if your goal is to slip some slop into the LLMs, it can be done quietly.

The nuclear option would be for us to require new posts to be affirmatively approved by a mod before they hit the sub.  One of us would really see if there were 50 Libornova posts every week and act accordingly.  It would be a more curated sub but it would also be more resistant to marketers efforts.  A less aggressive option would be to use mod tools to pause mentions of those brands that we suspect are being the most aggressive lately while engaging them to make sure their future communications here are within the bounds.

If you want to see what un-moderated looks like, my social experiment r/officechairsIsell is based on the idea that if you give folks the ability to post whatever they want, a chairs sub will become garbage.

Its our sub to use so please, what do you, the subscribers want to see us doing about this problem that is impacting the quality of what we have here?

Need help finding a good chair

Hi, I'd like reccommendations for a good office chair which meets my requirements.

My desk is quite high, so if the seat can reach up to 60cm, that would be ideal.

I would like an open mesh bottom on the chair, it gets really hot where i live and so I get quite sweaty, so a breathable, open mesh bottom will prevent sweating, or odours from getting trapped.

Preferrably it would have nice head support.

Even though the seat is open mesh, i'd like it to be comfortable.

Many thanks

How bad of an idea is it to buy a cheap chair off Am*zon lol?

Post image

Rule is saying no am*zon links so I won't, but the one I'm looking at is the MALOL chair that's mesh, leans way back, has a kick rest, doesn't have a pillow for the lumbar support, and has like one of those fancy adjustable head rests.

I don't have a lot of money, so around $100 is really the most I can push it, but it's basically a gaming chair without the fake leather and shitty pillows.

To be fair tho, I did actually like my last gaming chair other than the shit pillow, only reason I stopped using it is because the adjusting gear broke.

Thrift Find - Steelcase Leap V2 $15

Spotted this Leap V2 right before closing on Thursday. I was already pretty content with a K1 Impress chair I thrifted several months ago for $25, so I actually walked away and left it behind.

Slept on it, changed my mind, and sent my wife first thing Friday morning to grab it. Wild twist: it was originally marked at $20, but my daughter’s girlfriend had pulled the tag earlier and decided against buying it. When they put it back out on the floor Friday, they repriced it down to $15!

It took some serious deep cleaning on the upholstery, and it has the usual minor scuffs plus a missing tension knob cap, but mechanically it works like a charm. Can’t complain about a $15 Leap V2.

We will see if I like it more than the K1.

What are your top picks out of the chairs released in the last 5 years?

• Upvotes

Most of the chairs get talked about here are the classics that have already been around for 10 or 20 years. Nothing wrong with that, I wanted to talk about some of the newer chairs for a change. What does everyone think of these?

Here's my top 5:

  1. Anthros

Great pelvic and upper back support.

  1. Steelcase Karman

The seat has good support, and both the seat and backrest breathe really well.

  1. Libernovo Omni

The 4 parts recline system is very cool, great dynamic support, just a really comfortable chair overall.

  1. Haworth Zody II

Being able to change the lumbar support on the left and right sides separately is something I haven't seen on many chairs.

  1. Herman Miller Vantum

It's a lot better than those racing style seats. The seat and back support are both pretty good.

That's my list right now. I want to hear how everyone else feels about these "newer" chairs. Anything else starting to stand out?

SCAM ALERT! "Wevem Goods" offering 80% off Herman Miller chairs

I was just served an instagram ad for a "pre black friday" sale on herman miller chairs, offering 75% off Aeron and Embody. I won't post the link directly, but I've been on the lookout for sales like this and this almost got me. It's clearly high-effort, but after looking into it, it doesn't pass the sniff test:

- Near-exact copy of the HM website, with a URL "hermanmiller.wevemgoods" that seems like it's a subdomain of HM's site, but is actually the other way around
- Lower-res imagery + broken scroll function on the site
- False ugency "Sale ends today" + exclusivity "Only on this website" messaging
- Website was only registered in June 2026
- Business address is a suspicious business suite in NY that's associated with multiple other unrelated businesses
- "Up to 80% off" pretty much the entire HM line, maybe you'll see a discount like that on one colorway of a less popular model
- HM customer service has confirmed that "Wevem Goods" is not an authorized retailer of their products

I haven't actually tried to purchase so can't confirm 100%, but it has to be too good to be true, right? An unusually good/detailed scam, but a scam nonetheless. Google doesn't come up with any callouts of this, so I figured it'd be good to post about for people suspicious about it like I was. Has anyone else seen this?

LF chair recommendations

Hey y'all,

Looking for recommendations on an ergonomic chair for office/gaming. I've been looking at the Libernovo Omni SE, but have missed the recent sale. Planning to compare brands and recommendations before black Friday rolls around.

I'm a 6'1 (6'2 on a good day), 225 lb. dude. I've got kyphoscoliosis (70 degrees curvature on the thoracic region) so some chairs that hit mid spine can be extremely uncomfortable. Talking short/low back, or extremely rigid.

Anything stand out, chair peoples?

Spend 8+ hours a day at a desk? Your posture is probably paying for it.

Im torn between Sihoo & Libernovo

Hi, Ive been ruminating over the LiberNovo Omni SE & SIHOO Doro C300 Pro V2. I need a new chair because over the years ive ruined my body sitting in a terrible 100$ chair

Ive seen the Libernovo have some production issues but assuming I can get a good cushion itd be ideal because Id get The good lumbar support and adjustable headrest.

Sihoo boasts similar feats at a better price but ive seen bad things said about both

Any Advice?

Leap V2 vs Aeron for lower back pain

I work from home full-time and am looking to finally invest in a good office chair.

I’ve been dealing with some lower back issues (L4/L5 and L5/S1 disc herniations), along with weak glutes and hip imbalances that I’m working through with PT. Recently had a running injury that’s caused my back to flare up again.

When I moved about 6 months ago, I tossed my old generic Staples chair planning to upgrade. Well, 6 months later I’m still sitting in a kitchen table chair (lol)

After browsing this sub the Leap V2 and Aeron seem to be the most recommended, but opinions are pretty spill it seems.

I’m willing to spend the money for something that’ll last, but also don’t see myself dropping $1,000+

With that looking for advice on 3 things:

  1. Im a big Facebook Marketplace guy. Would you consider a used chair or any downsides (wear that would impact its back support?)

  2. Is there anywhere I can actually try these chairs side by side?

3 Anyone with similar lower back issues have experience with either chair? Or have one they found better

Thanks all !

Now and/or Black Friday?

My lovely SA from the Greenwich HM location just emailed me an exclusive 30% off offer that expires tomorrow. I think this is the perfect opportunity to get the Embody Gaming. This way I can try it out for a month and if it does not work out I can return it and get the Aeron during the Black Friday sale.

Yes I am looking for validation.

But also open to all of your lovely thoughts…

Graphite/Nightfall/Nova for the win?

Repaired Classic Aeron - Ready to sell

I did my best tinkering and thanks to youtube uni, I successfully replaced the cylinder and the internal lift lever that snapped.

I did a poor attempt first to duct tape it. Worked for a couple of times but eventually losened and lost it's reach to the cylinder button.

Then I found and ordered the lever part through a m a z o n. Took two weeks to arrive but it works!

Planning to sell it once I receive the steelcase gesture our office ordered for me.

How much can I sell this (in CAD) is $600 fair?

Help me choose an ergonomic office chair: Sleep Company Onyx (₹6.7k) vs Jupiter Pro (₹7.8k) vs Vergo Transform Prime (₹5.1k)? Which deal is best?

Hey guys,

Looking to buy a good ergonomic chair for long hours of sitting, and I am getting these three options at heavily discounted sale prices right now. Need your advice on which one is the absolute best value for money:

  1. The Sleep Company Onyx (High Back) - Getting this for ₹6,781
  2. Green Soul Jupiter Pro (3-year warranty variant) - Getting this for ₹7,866
  3. Vergo Transform Prime (High Back) - Getting this for ₹5,109

My primary usage is sitting for long working/gaming hours.

The Sleep Company Onyx seems like a crazy good deal because it usually sells closer to 10k and has that SmartGRID seat, but Green Soul Jupiter Pro has a great reputation for reliability. On the other hand, the Vergo is super cheap at just 5k.

For anyone who owns any of these: How is the long-term comfort, build quality, and after-sales service? Is it worth spending the extra cash on the Jupiter Pro, or is the Onyx at ₹6.7k a no-brainer steal?

Joined the Steelcase family today!

I posted earlier asking for recommendations for a budget chair. To my surprise, a Steelcase Leap V2 popped up on FB Marketplace today…

I checked it out. It felt comfortable, supportive, and I’m amazed at the various adjustments it offers.

I purchased this for $275

Feels like a good investment to me. There’s some wear on the armrests but nothing terrible.

Did I get a decent deal? (whats done is done, just curious)

Finally, here’s a pic of the totally ergonomic chair I was using the past 6 years…

Looking for a good office chair

Hi! I’m a 3D artist so I sit at my desk a lot, for hours on straight. I’m looking for a good ergonomic chair, I’ve been going through reddit posts but most of them are recommending US based brands. I am based in Europe, so if anyone knows any European brands. Please do let me know!

I genuinely don’t trust amaz0n, I feel like most of the reviews are fake except for the negative ones.
Also it’s mostly just cheap drop shipping for triple (if not more) the actual price.

I do want to mention that I suffer from Chronic nerve pains in my pelvis & lower back. So please don’t suggest a standing desk as that’s just not possible for me🫣

Looking for an Ergonomic Chair in Lahore Under 35k PKR

Hey everyone, I'm a software engineering student who also works remotely, so I spend around 8–9 hours sitting daily, sometimes 10–12 hours on weekends. My budget is 35k PKR, and I'm based in Lahore, Pakistan.

I'm looking for a comfortable chair with good lumbar support for studying, working, gaming, and watching movies. I'd prefer an ergonomic office chair over a gaming chair, but I'm open to either if it's comfortable and well-built.

I've been trying to narrow down my options, but it's difficult to judge comfort and build quality online. I'd appreciate recommendations for specific models available in Lahore, especially from shops where I can test the chair before buying.

If you've bought a chair locally within this budget, please share the model, shop location, price, and how it's held up over time.

Thanks!
