I feel like we're missing a step after like 22ish seconds

  1. Drip the dye on the water
  2. Rake it one way
  3. ???
  4. Profit

Rake it the other. Then the other. Then the other.

it looks like they just went back and forth again and skipped it since you'd already seen that step and it would look the same and people have the attention span of gnats these days

Could be a special design that could easily be copied

It is. So what? Don't make disingenuous tutorial videos, or even how it's made videos, if you want to gatekeep some particular step. But we know you'll keep doing it for the "skipped a step" engagement comments.🫩

It's not a tutorial to learn to make the product, it's them showing how they make their product. Literally just showing their process. They're not trying to teach you anything, you're just misinterpreting the video and getting mad at them for it.

No it's not, if you skipped a step. We have entire subs about this nonsense.

Hold on, did I just reply to a bot that couldn't read past my first comma?

Take a deep breath, go outside for some fresh air, and rethink how angry you're getting about this

ONE DOWN... a thousand more to go until clock out

58

u/Mirria_ 12h ago

It's ok, they sell for 140$ each. Yes I checked.

49

u/Uberzwerg 10h ago

I'm ok with that.
Would never pay it, but at least, there's effort and skill involved.

5

u/Kerbart 4h ago

That's not a shocker given how much work goes into it.

Who else preferred the design before that thing was rolled?

89

u/ardotschgi 15h ago

Yeah I always think less is more, but the creators never agree 🥲

It’s always the weird turkey tail design. There’s like ten steps before that they could stop at and would be beautiful designs. But they just love the turkey tails.

u/finchlini 11h ago

I get it. My grandma liked turkey tails and now I feel a certain way about them too, because they remind me of her. Mod circles are dope though 👌

omg I feel this way EVERY TIME I watch one of these. It always looks cool and I'm mentally begging them to stop the rake, and then they rake it 100 more times

If they chose different colors, it would have at least looked less like turkey tails.

u/Helenium_autumnale 12h ago

Yes, and how about 2-3 colors? This would be so fun to play around with for a day, perhaps with paper instead of expensive silk, experimenting with different patterns. Occasionally you can find a vintage book with front and end papers showing these same types of marbling, done the same way in a water tank.

It’s not rolled at any stage. They drag a stick with nails across the surface

1

u/nicci_hrdwll 13h ago

i like the design on 20sec to 23sec

15

u/dancingonsaturnrings 15h ago

wow, this is a beautiful pattern and great craftsmanship. I wonder how the pattern doesn't just wash out?

11

u/Krazyguy75 8h ago

Basically, they uses special paints and specially treated fabrics, with a few steps afterwards to get it to form lasting bonds. It will eventually fade, but it takes a while.

u/RikuAotsuki 7h ago

The same way literally any dyed fabric holds its color, presumably

29

u/bmcgowan89 15h ago

I kinda wanted that to be chocolate, ngl

2

u/stormygreyeski_jazzy 11h ago

Right? It does look like a delicious dessert! I’m getting cravings now.

22

u/425565 15h ago

I liked it before the 4th drip and it got raked into a mass of fans...oh well.

15

u/Cute_Bacon 15h ago

Have they done any blue/green ones? I tried to look but I don't have the tiktoks

24

u/Pinglenook 14h ago

Lots of water marbling artists have videos on YouTube too, so you can look for "water marbling blue green scarf" on there to find several!

17

u/Cute_Bacon 14h ago

Oh my gosh this is amazing! I had no idea this kind of content was so popular. Thanks for the recommendation!

(for anyone else, one of my favorites so far on YouTube is @colourdropdesign. Really beautiful colors)

24

u/SirPeesA_lot 10h ago

I think it looked better before they turned it brown.

4

u/Senselesspassion 15h ago

What the!!!! It's made like this

3

u/Admirable_Beebe_4962 14h ago

It would be more interesting to use the og pattern instead of raking it up.

3

u/Accurate_Tax_1302 12h ago

If there was an affordable at home version of this, I'd definitely want it. It looks so fun!

5

u/capincus 12h ago

It's just dye in a water bath, there's no reason you couldn't do it at home.

6

u/goodfinch 8h ago

you can, i assume it’s the same technique as marbled paper, you just need to find the right inks and water thickener

2

u/ExpiredExasperation 11h ago

You can do this in a lot of ways. Even with nail polish on your nails.

5

u/SkullDump 14h ago

As is the rule of natures law, it’s time for another bot to post this again /s

"Eternal" by TOKiMONSTA

3

u/KEPD-350 8h ago

thanks!

edit: Correct song title is "Eternal Reverie", just "Reverie" is another totally different tune.

fucking banger of a track

2

u/annoyedreply 10h ago

Half way through I had a sudden craving for a whopper

2

u/Zorkflerp 10h ago

Carrageenan jello to float the dye. Usually for paper but any flat fiber will do.

2

u/Cderouen82 2h ago

That swirling technique is mesmerizing! Wish I could try it.

2

u/AdOrnery4474 15h ago

Omg I thought it was a chocolate 😭

1

u/roastedTriscuit69 15h ago

How can she floral!?

1

u/hednizm 11h ago

1

u/Crudeprimate 11h ago

1

u/RionaMurchadha 4h ago

Very cool

1

u/SpookedBasil 3h ago

It looks like turkey feathers to me. Very cool, though.

1

u/KurlyKayla 15h ago

Woah very cool
