Alright, what's the little dude just spreading the green around all about?

Top comment from another posting explains that it's "silage" that is basically broken down corn (ears, husks, stalks, etc.) for animal feed.

You guys should watch a show called Tractor Ted. It's got some banger tunes about silage

Thanks! I've always been interested in farming, in particular it's economy within the farm (not the market).

everything is used and recycled, farm life is much more green than anyone in the city haha

He’s turning the lil truckloads of fluffy silage into a densely packed block of silage. The plant mater keeps its nutrients better with no air so they can feed critters (probably cows) right through the winter.

He spreads it out so it can all dry evenly in the sun.

No one uses sound on Reddit. If you want sound you go to TikTok. I don’t.

I’m not catching the reason for doing the loop. It does let the truck do out the other way but the truck would still get out with the same or better timing if they’d skip doing the loop and cut just a bit further to the corner.

u/Snuggle_Pounce 1d ago
The “cut a bit further” is the problem.
The trucks can only hold so much and they had to swap out for the empty one. The loop has less corn than a line with the same length of the circumference because the interior edge is smaller.

u/Dismal_Scientist_CA 1d ago
The distance of the partial radius seems to be about the same as the distance to the end of the row had the loop been skipped. The truck would be free to exit at the end of the row. No? I know there’s a reason. These guys have probably harvested that same field 50 times

u/Snuggle_Pounce 1d ago
You know how if there’s a line of people holding hands, and the center person pivots in place, the person at the end basically has to run?
The outer edge of that circle IS about the same as the length of the rest of the line, but thanks to circles being weird, they harvested less corn then it would have took to get to and around the corner to let the truck out.

I see it now. The truck being filled was nearly full, and the empty truck was behind it, and they were all boxed in with no way to turn around, so the harvester did the loop to let the full truck have a way out.

I reckon there’s a drainage ditch along the side of the road, meaning the trucks must go to the end of it at the bottom-right corner to drive along. So, the truck needed either a way to turn around at the point where they switched, which was easy enough to do with the loop-the-loop, or it would have had to go all the way to the bottom corner, which would have been too far and caused the truck to overflow.

Excellent powers of observation. Note how all of them enter and exit the field at the bottom right, regardless of where the work is currently being performed. A ditch, or maybe a fence, or even a habit from a fence that used to exist, but something is preventing them from just exiting the field anywhere along that road.

That would make sense. I’ve cut many a field but never needed any algebra to figure it out. A ditch. Go figure

Cool harvest mod bro, what's the game?

From another post it's a real vid taken from a drone.

How long can drones stay in the air these days? DJI mini used to have a run time of 30 min 10 years ago.

I wish there was a bot that would do that as soon as it's posted and we could go back and revive the old post. Then it'd have (checks) 270 more upvotes.

I wonder what happened to make them do the pirouette near the start...

This is clearly Caleb in action and not Jeremy. Jeremy's lines wouldn't be so pristine.

I'm dumb and colorblind. It's that corn they are cutting down and pilling up? Are they making a big compacted pile of corn to feed cows?

How is this recorded? I imagine it took a couple of hours, are there drones that can handle that much flight time? I kinda still live in a world where drones can do like 30 minutes top.

Teathered Balloon though

Oh, I didn't think of that, that makes sense, although it's surprisingly stable, but I guess that could work

There's no way this isn't ragebait

u/impulsivepatience 1d ago
Sucks you didn't like the song but that shouldn't enrage you.. perhaps seek some therapy. Hope this helps!

u/Juan-Cruz-Mz 1d ago
Nice. But I didn't said it enraged me lol. I said it was ragebait, which is the intention of enraging through an obviously wrong or stupid thing to say. Perhaps seek some semantics teacher. Hope this helps!
