These are my current OBS settings for streaming on YouTube at 1440p to get the VP9 codec, and the quality looks great during live streams.

My setup is an RTX 3060 Ti, Ryzen 7 5800X3D, and a 1080x1920 monitor. I experience no lag and get good FPS performance while gaming in fullscreen mode.

I have a question about my current bitrate of 51,000 Kbps. Would reducing it affect the stream quality on YouTube or Twitch?

I've found mixed opinions on this. Some people recommend keeping it at 51,000 Kbps, while others say it's unnecessarily high and that a lower bitrate would deliver virtually the same quality on both platforms.

What's your recommendation? Is there a noticeable quality difference between 51,000 Kbps and a lower bitrate?

It was working just fine literally yesterday. And before people suggest anything here's what I've already done:

• Changed the settings in the config from 4k to 1920x1080

• Uninstalled and reinstalled

• Checked to update my drivers

• Set OBS to "high performance" in my graphics settings

• Run as administrator

I'm using a modern AMD GPU, it's like two or three years old at most, so I know the problem isn't that. I can't provide a log because the software won't boot up.

When I use Zoom, I can select the OBS virtual camera as an option for video. However, when I log into Google Meet, OBS virtual camera does not appear as an option.

Has anyone else had this problem? I've restarted the computer, checked my system settings and permissions. Asking gemini did not work (just told me to restart and then to unclick boxes that didn't actually exist).

I'm running a Mac M1 on Sequoia 15.3.2.

I'm trying to record my microphone to a separate file so I could edit it in Audacity later. The desktop audio could stay in the video. I tried to separate the both's audio tracks (desktop in track 1 and audio in track 2), but the output only has the audio from track 1. I think that's because of my video editor. So because of that I thought, maybe just record it to a separate file, since that's what I actually need.

EDIT: I ended up just manually exporting the video's track as audio and editing it in Audacity. I initially had problems with actually seeing the tracks beside track 1 but my video editor just wouldn't play them all at once and I had to find the tracks for a little while.

I have an issue with a death counter plugin that is behaving pretty eratically ( NOT erotically!). It works fine until I use the OBS built in soundbar system and play sound clips. During the duration of each sound clip the counter shows the number "-49" every time. Once the sound is over, the counter returns to the previous value. PLZ help!

I’m gonna get the elgato 4kx but when i usually stream on my pc, i use my headset that already has a mic to stream my microphone and the game audio in my ears. How will i be able to stream my microphone audio to obs but also hear the game through my ps5 (with no latency)? do i have to also get another microphone🫠 I’m planning on doing this for gta 6

Hello. I have a large collection of mp4 video files in VLC player that I want OBS to read their file names and display them in chat when a new one begins playing. I tried using Gemini for a solution and everything it told me to do did not work. Is there anyone out there who has done this before and could offer a solution? Thank you!

And it also freezes on a frame, if I use Window Capture.

Edit: I tested Display Cap and Audio Output Cap together and it works, instead of Game Capture for PCSX2 (only solution for now).

Hii, every time i try to start stream it gives me a "Staring the output failed. please check the log for details. I'm trying to record Alpha Saphhire for YouTube and game capture only works once. I need a second one to record both screens. If I add a second game capture, the second one just locks to the top left corner. I tried using window capture and display capture and they only work when the game isnt full screen. As soon as I go full screen, the captures stop capturing. Please help :(

So I make YouTube videos and want the base screen double wide so my camera is next to my source for editing but I also stream and don’t want to have to keep reverting the canvas settings. Is there a way to keep the double wide setting to my YouTube recordings only? I tried two different profiles but the setting changes on both of them to be double wide.

Edit: problem solved. Was ram issue memory try it 3200 MHz . Had to manually configure 3200 and it worked fine no issues

I'm using the same OBS settings for both YouTube and Twitch, but for some reason, streaming on Twitch consistently causes my PC to shut down after around 5 minutes of gameplay. On YouTube, I can stream for 5 hours without any issues.

Even changing the in-game graphics settings while streaming on Twitch can randomly cause my PC to shut down.

I tried disabling Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS), which seemed to resolve the issue when streaming at 1920×1080, matching my monitor's native resolution.

However, I'd prefer to stream at 2560×1440 because the higher resolution provides better visual quality, particularly on YouTube, where the VP9 codec makes a noticeable difference.

I tried using the same 1440p rescaling settings for Twitch, but my PC automatically shut down after around 5 minutes of streaming. Meanwhile, streaming at 1440p on YouTube works without any issues.

Does anyone know what could be causing this, or why streaming at 1440p on Twitch causes my PC to shut down while YouTube works perfectly fine with the same settings?

I am using SE Live for multi-streaming on YouTube and Twitch. I found that I can set separate output settings for each platform using the override settings. I thought it was a good idea to override YouTube so I could use a higher bitrate, while making Twitch use the default bitrate I had in OBS Studio (8,000 kbps). However, it seems that when overriding on YouTube, it seems to have screwed it up and scaled it where it only shows a quarter of the screen. I have an ultrawide monitor (3440x1440), and I set the Base resolution 2580x1080 in OBS. However, I noticed when enabling Override settings and changing it to scale 2580x1080 still scales it in.

I don't exactly know why this happens. If anyone knows anything or knows another way to increase the Kbps for YouTube only. I would greatly appreciate it!

So weird realization I made. I've been multi streaming to YouTube and Twitch just fine for months. I had my primary account linked to OBS as YouTube. However when I unlocked duel-format / 2k streaming on Twitch, I decided to switch my primary account to Twitch, so I could use Enhanced Broadcasting.

The catch? When I use enhanced broadcasting, Twitch works perfectly, but either my full screen or vertical YT stream (usually vertical) dies. But, if I toggle it off, all my multi streams work perfectly. But then I can't use duel-format and have to turn down my YT stream to 1080p, since Twitch doesn't like to run 2k without enhanced broadcasting on.

Anyone else encountered this / found a fix? I've tried changing bitrate, encoders, and YT stream key settings.

Hey everyone.

I'm looking for advice on the best OBS settings for my setup. My goal is to get great video quality and clear, good-sounding audio, whether I'm recording.

I've already watched several OBS tutorials and tried different settings. The video quality is pretty good, but honestly, the audio still doesn't sound that great. I'm not sure if it's my settings, my audio filters, or something else I'm doing wrong.

I'd really appreciate some advice from people who know their way around OBS !

After an update to MacOS Tahoe 26.7.1 - OBS is no longer opening. It wont even open in safe mode and I cannot get in to check for updates.

I’m experiencing severe pixelation and blocky image quality when streaming Fortnite on Kick, especially when moving or turning the camera. The stream looks relatively fine when standing still, but the image becomes heavily pixelated during fast movement.

My setup:
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D
Monitor and game resolution: 2560×1440
Streaming software: OBS Studio
Streaming encoder: AMD HW H.264 (AVC)
Streaming bitrate: 8000 Kbps CBR
Stream output resolution: 1920×1080 at 60 FPS (also tested 1280×720)
Preset: Quality

Keyframe interval: 2 seconds

What I’ve tested:
My local recordings now look clear, even during movement.
OBS reports 0% rendering lag, 0% encoding lag, and 0% dropped frames due to network issues.
Kick only allows my stream to be viewed at up to 720p.
Lowering the stream output to 720p did not resolve the pixelation.

The problem: My local recordings are clear, but my Kick livestream looks heavily compressed and pixelated during movement, despite having a powerful PC, an 8000 Kbps bitrate, and no dropped frames reported by OBS.
I need help identifying the actual cause and finding the correct OBS and AMD encoder settings to improve Kick stream quality, rather than repeating basic resolution and bitrate changes.

I’m currently working on a setup to record Xbox Series X gameplay using OBS on my laptop. I’m still learning how everything works, and I wanted to get some advice before spending more money.
My current setup:

Xbox Series X
Lenovo IdeaPad 5i laptop
AVerMedia capture card
SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5X wireless headset
External microphone for recording my voice
OBS Studio

My goal is to record gameplay while capturing my voice, game audio, and my teammates’ voices through Xbox party chat, Discord, and in-game chat.

So far, I’ve managed to get Xbox party chat and Discord working with OBS. However, I’m having trouble getting in-game voice chat working properly.

I’m considering switching to a wired headset for better reliability. I also want to keep using a separate microphone for my recordings while using the headset microphone to communicate with teammates.

My main questions are:
1. Would switching to a wired headset be better for my setup?
2. What’s the best way to record Xbox party chat, Discord, and in-game chat through OBS?
3. Would I need additional equipment, such as a Chat Link cable or audio interface?
4. Is using two microphones, one for OBS and one for teammates, a good idea?
5. What would you change about my current setup?

I’m trying to keep costs low and avoid buying equipment I don’t need. My main priority is getting reliable audio from everyone while recording gameplay.

Hey everyone! I’m trying to record or stream Call of Duty 4 using OBS Studio, but the game simply doesn’t show up in the capture. It’s not even a black screen the game image just doesn’t appear at all. Does anyone know how to fix this? Has this happened to anyone else? I need some help so I can record or livestream the game.
