Brooklyn Is the Bensonhurst bus lane working? (A fun data dive)
Hi everyone,
You may be familiar with a project I created called subway.fyi, where I use machine learning to predict delays in the subway faster than the MTA.
The bus counterpart is buses.fyi, and I've just added a new feature to "A/B test" changes that are being put in, like the new bus lane along Bay Parkway. It's early early days, but it's already showing the route is a little faster.
You can experiment here: https://buses.fyi/compare?route=B6&direction=1&service=all&start=300652&end=300493&date_a=2026-09-30&date_b=2026-10-14&hour_start=7&hour_end=19
Feedback welcome!

All Boros Gothamist: Brooklyn school dean says MTA officers assaulted him over a $3 bus fare he says he paid
This is absolutely horrific, wholly unacceptable, and perfectly exemplifies the indignities imposed on bus riders in the name of fare enforcement by MTA's EAGLE Teams.
If you're reading this, you'll likely be footing the bill for the inevitable $1,000,000+ settlement.

All Boros MTA ticket and fare inspectors, what a joke.
M15 SBS, southbound at 96th st. Bus stops, a little more than a dozen people on board. Two inspectors waiting outside the rear door, another two in the front.
Five or six 20ish young adults rushed out the rear door. I saw the female inspector stoped one of them and had a brief conversation, no ticket issued. Then she and a male inspector got on the bus as you can see in the pic.
Male inspector went to the back asking everyone proof of payment. While he was all the way back, a black lady sitting in the corner kept shaking her head, no words. The male inspector turned around and shrugged and walked to the rear door.
The female inspector, after scanned my ONMY card, turned back to a 60ish white male and asked proof. White dude got angry, he said "EXCUSE ME?? I just got on the bus!". The female inspector then walked to the rear door and both inspectors got off the bus.
WTF was this? What a lame ass act and a waste of time. And don't give me that "mind your own biz" BS because if you paid your fare like I did, you also paid for those who didn't and the next fare increase is coming soon!
My apologies for the rant and the negative energy. I have no solution for this while seeing things going down everyday. Seriously I feel like a stupid fuck not for the money I paid but the unfairness I witnessed. What a shame.

MTA Career MTA Bronx Training
Greetings everyone, so I got into and start my training at 6AM in the Bronx. Unfortunately I’ll be traveling from SI. The paper says there is no parking lot and limited street parking.
Is the parking situation by the training facility that bad? Im just looking for some insight to those who drove there instead of public transportation. I’m willing to get up at 3AM just to find a spot.
Brooklyn MTA Bus Driver Questions for Movie
Hi, I am working on a movie and we have a scene on an MTA bus and I'd love to speak to a driver about a few things. If anyone is a current or former bus driver I'd love to talk. Thanks!

All Boros Pre-Employment Rescheduling Anyone Else Wait This Long?
I had my pre-employment appointment scheduled for September 23, 2026, but I needed to reschedule it. I emailed the rescheduling address and received an automated response stating that it could take approximately 5–15 business days to receive a new appointment date.
It’s now October 13, and I still haven’t received a new date. I sent a follow-up email yesterday, October 12, but realized afterward that it was Columbus Day, so I’m not sure if anyone has even had a chance to review it yet.
I also tried calling the MTA Employment Services number, but it was just an automated phone system, and I couldn’t get through to an actual person.
My list number is 4, and I’m still very interested in the position. I just don’t want my application to get held up or have my spot affected because I’m waiting for a new appointment.
For anyone who has gone through this process recently:
How long did it take for you to receive a new pre-employment appointment after requesting a reschedule?
Is there a direct number or email address for someone who handles pre-employment scheduling?
Would it be worth going to an MTA employment office in person, or would that be a waste of time?
Does the delay affect your place in the hiring process or list number?
Any advice or firsthand experience would be appreciated. Thanks!

Westchester Paratransit overbooked
I've been a passenger of Paratransit in Westchester, NY for over 8 years. I will soon get Access a Ride in the city as well.
The bus used to have some lateness, but it was rare for a bus to be more than an hour late. It happened, with a few times 2 hours late, but it was not normal. This issue almost completely resolved itself when they swapped to the 30 minute window system, which your pickup was a 30 minute window, rather than a set time. They were never more than an hour late with this system and most days they were within the window. I didn't like he system at first, as I thought 20 minutes would be better, but I've gotten used to it in time.
Recently, since September, the Beeline Paratransit system has been consistently late. I have been inquiring as to what was going on, I heard "new drivers", "too many trips", "bus broke down", etc. Yesterday, I finally received a foundational reason as to why the system is so messed up right now.
The person I was talking to estimated Paratransit's current capacity being 1000 trips a day. They are currently doing 1200-1300 trips a day. I knew they were overbooked, but I had no idea to what extent. The person also told me, as they are hiring new drivers, the clients are matching their hire rate, so they can't catch up. They even added 17 new buses and still cannot keep up with the demand. My pickup today was 6:51-7:21am. I was picked up at 7:50am.
I use paratransit in the morning, Lyft/Uber in the afternoon to the next job or class, then paratransit at night. If I had to use Uber 3 times a day, I would have no money left. Paratransit is not a choice for us. It is a necessity.
Well, I thought this was an interesting look behind the scenes at the route of the system's problems and wanted to share. I really hope they can fix this soon! I need it to be fixed soon...

Brooklyn Soon... (Bay Parkway Bus Lane)
Bay Parkway bus lanes are a GO! Lane stretches from just south of Bath Avenue to at least Kings Highway 65 Street. Plan accordingly, expect traffic and confusion. Routes affected: B6, B82.
Also, Automated Camera Enforcement starts on the B6 on October 12 (Warnings until December 11, Tickets from December 12, 2026) and is already active on the B82. Double parked cars cannot stand more than 2.5 minutes, and cars at "NO STANDING" spots, including bus stops, cannot stand for more than 5 minutes. 2 buses must take your photos with those times apart for a ticket or warning to be issued.

Queens Q103 bus right now
Wow this is a first
On the q103 bus. Heading towards Astoria and the bus just left 21st -e/f stop and the bus is SRO. This bus use to be crickets at all hours.
I think the route extension to the waterfront n the fact that it runs down 21st from 44th drive to the m train is helping drive ridership?
Wish they can extend operating hours to midnight / 11pm on weekends? Mta listen to us riders!
When the 7 is down this bus can easily take us to the e/f or m train
