Random Story NSFW

Look, it is currently like 2:30 AM my brain is fried and I should be asleep but I am physically vibrating with pure unadulterated gremlin energy after what I just witnessed and I need to expel this chaotic psychic damage onto you guys before I can close my eyes

Picture this

Im walking home from a late night convenience store run absolute goblin hours suddenly from the end of the block i hear heavy breathing violent grunting and the distinct sound of someone slapping the absolute daylight out of the atmosphere i peek around a corner and there is this random utterly hammered dude in a puffer jacket throwing haymakers at literally nothing not a person not a pole just the open air he is doing full Muhammad Ali footwork weaving dodging throwing devastating hooks and hissing at the midnight breeze like it stole his credit card the wind gusts a little bit catching his jacket and he stumbles backward trips over his own untied shoelaces and face-plants straight into a pile of autumn leaves im standing there frozen half-expecting him to pass out

But no

This absolute legend props himself up on one elbow, wipes a leaf off his nose glares daggers into the dark sky, and yells at the top of his lungs

"BRO WHAT?! YOU CAN DODGE EVERY PUNCH?! THAT'S BULLSHIT!" he then scrambled to his feet gave the wind a middle finger so intense it looked personal, and power-walked away i am losing my grip on reality Goodnight all may the wind not dodge your punches tonight

Are people are more judgemental about your night owl lifestyle these days?

I've been a lifelong night owl. These days I truly can set my own schedule because I do gig work. So I usually stay up all night doing housework, or working on my craft business website. These past couple years when I try to talk online to make new friends, or go on dating apps, whenever the person finds out I stay up late they'll ask why. When I tell them, because I don't have a "solid" reason like working night shift, they'll say something like "You should go to bed earlier" and then ghost me.

I feel like it wasn't this way like 5+ years ago. Has anyone else noticed an increase in this kind of judgemental reaction lately? I'm wondering if the pandemic changed people's attitudes? Or is it just me?

Night Owl Rant I keep waking up too late to make any important phone calls

for a few days now I've been needing to make some phone calls, related to doctors appointments and insurance stuff. the phone centers close at 4pm... I go to sleep around 7am after staying up all night, wake up around 3pm. I try calling and I get left on hold til they close at 4pm! I tried messaging them thru their online portal with no response, I tried setting my alarm yesterday to around 1pm and I ended up disabling it in my sleep 😭 come on guys just let me sleep in til 4pm....

Question for the mods re: crossposting

I just had an interesting conversation with a physician in r/Ask Docs regarding chronotypes, and wanted to cross post here.

Is this allowed?

The doctor asked if I was a danger to myself or others. I told him 'Only if we're playing on the same server.' He left the room

Night Owl Rant Genuine question

So I have had a persistent struggle with my sleep schedule my entire life. I have always naturally reverted to staying up all night and sleeping all day if a set schedule did not prohibit me from doing so. My entire life this has made my family angry. I've had my phone taken as a child, Ive been told to try melatonin, I've tried eliminating blue light, essentially anything and everything that has been suggested to me. Ive been accused of doing it deliberately. I've been called lazy, I've been told that I'm making excuses, it seems no matter what I do it doesn't work. As of right now I go to bed at a reasonable time and I set anywhere between 9-15 alarms on full volume and set my phone across the room on charge. I'll just end up laying in bed wide awake and next thing I know it's 3 pm the next day, i'm just waking up, and I've missed every alarm. I genuinely don't know what the issue is. Can a person just be naturally nocturnal?it just feels like I'm constantly fighting against my own nature here and losing and it's just angering everyone around me. I take their advice, nothing. They accuse me of staying up all night as if I do it on purpose. They say I'm lazy and just making excuses. I just don't get it.

Can a human be naturally nocturnal? Does anyone here become drowsy during the day and more alert and wide awake at night? Do you force yourself to sleep at night and stay up all day regardless? How do you work with or against it? I'd love to here your experiences and opinions.

How to wake up early?

Do yall have any advice for waking up earlier I use to be able to wake up always at 7 am now it’s usually 8am I struggled a lot to wake up early today for midterms I had idk why? Also whenever I leave my phone across the room I go back into bed lmao cause I’m just so tired for some reason, maybe I have to wash my face and walk or something but it’s brutal , I want to wake up earlier so I have more time and don’t sleep so late cause I’m going to be tired before work

I'm now living in the vampire months.

I work nights. It's dark out when I go to sleep. It's dark out when I leave for work. I'll go the next few months and almost never see the sun. It's glorious. I hope everyone else finds a way to enjoy the longer nights in the Northern Hemisphere.

Circadian Rhythm and Insomnia

I'm 68 years old. For the first 30 years of life, I could fall dead asleep anywhere anytime. Since my early thirties, I've suffered a million nights of insomnia and a million nights of trying to fix it. I recently retired and stopped a lot of the trying to fix it schemes since I don't have to get up for a job and now I'm pretty much set at a 2-3 am fall asleep time with a general wakeup around 8 hours later. Do you think somewhere along the way my cirdadian rhythm naturally changed to more of being a night owl or was I just able to overcome it when younger?

NightOwler Every damn webinar is too damn early

Being a professional, a night-owler, and a West-Coaster is a really bad combo.

I am very fortunate that I negotiated starting late, and I'm not even that much of a night owl; I manage to go to sleep at 1-2am, and get to the office at 11ish.

But every damn vendor webinar tries to appease both the Americas and Europe, so they're always held at early morning PT. Fine if I was in the East Coast… but no, the entirety of the world's population (sorry Hawaii) has to be in time zones that disfavor a West Coast nightowl.

Most of these are "nice to have", but it's just not worth it to be tired for these when I don't have to. So I lose on some extra education. Just got an interesting one this Thursday at 8:00am, and it's already a busy week. Debating if it's worth waking up at 7:55am for a damn webinar.
