Bruno Mars - Floor Seats - Tips

I got tickets in the B5 section, Row 27 Aisle. I am 5 feet 5. The two guys in front of me were not super tall but this was my view of the stage if I didn’t stand on my tippy toes. Wear high heels if you are short!
When I tried to step outside the green tape border to see if I can get a better view from then aisle, security pained me back inside the green tape. 🥲
The poor tiny lady (less than 5 feet tall) next to me watched Bruno from her phone which she tried to hold high above her head.
Please share your tips for a more enjoyable experience!

How do people in Surrey make genuine friendships?

Hey everyone!

I'm curious how people in Surrey and the Lower Mainland meet new people and build meaningful friendships.

I'm interested in spirituality, philosophy, psychology, hiking, nature, camping, and personal growth. I enjoy thoughtful conversations, meeting people from different backgrounds, and exploring new places.

I'd love to hear about local community gatherings, hiking groups, volunteering opportunities, coffee meetups, or other activities where people can naturally connect.

What are some good places or groups in Surrey to meet friendly, open-minded people?

I'd appreciate your recommendations!

Kid therapist recommendations?

Our family has been through a LOT of major, crazy stuff in the last 6 years, and it's taken a particular toll on our now-11 year old. They're not in crisis, but there's quite a bit of anxiety, intrusive thoughts, etc., and while we (kid and I) have been talking about therapy for a few years, they're now ready to try. I know that not all therapists treat kids, so I'm looking for recommendations for those that do well with kids dealing with trauma. Ideally, it would be somewhere in the vicinity of East Van/downtown, as ability to travel is limited. Would prefer in person sessions, rather than virtual, as we think it might be easier in a neutral setting with no potential interruptions. Suggestions?

Looking for an EDS/hypermobility-friendly acupuncturist in Vancouver

Hi everyone, fellow EDS/HSD and chronic pain folks — I'm hoping to tap into this community's experience.

I was recently diagnosed with hypermobility (working through an EDS workup) and I'm dealing with chronic pain, including a stubbornly tight trapezius that doesn't respond well to certain hands-on techniques.

I used to see an acupuncturist I really trusted and who genuinely helped me, but the commute became too much of a time investment to keep up long-term. I switched to someone closer, but it hasn't been working out — the sessions include hands-on bodywork techniques that don't seem to suit my hypermobile body and tend to leave me worse off rather than better.

So now I'm looking for any acupuncturist recommendations, ideally with experience treating hypermobile/EDS patients — someone who leans toward gentler needling and lighter touch overall, rather than intense or vigorous techniques.

I checked the Ehlers-Danlos Society's healthcare provider directory (ehlers-danlos.com), but didn't find anyone local, so I'm hoping this community might know of someone not listed there.

I'm limited in how far I can comfortably travel due to other injuries and pain, so local recommendations (Vancouver proper) are especially appreciated — but really, any recommendation the EDS/hypermobile community here has found helpful is welcome, in case it helps others in a similar situation too.

Thank you in advance 💛

Wanted: Super Puffin Keychain

I realize this is a bit of a long shot, but for reasons I can’t even explain to myself I have become fixated on Aritzia’s Super Puffin which is now available in keychain form. But you can only get it as a gift with purchase if you buy a Super Puff coat. I do not need a new coat, but maybe one of you is buying a coat and doesn’t want this keychain. If so, would you consider selling it to me? I truly can’t believe I’m writing this post but that is how much I want this silly thing. Please help me!!

Taves Farm missing scarf

I was at Taves Farm yesterday morning (lots of fun btw!) and my scarf must have slipped off. It’s a grey scarf with a hood attached. I’m hoping that someone who is going this weekend can look out for it for me. I can even offer a small reward if I’m reunited with it! I have gotten in touch with the farm and it wasn’t turned in, but I happened to see other lost items strewn about so I’m hoping someone might notice it on their travels. Thank you :)

Looking for LGBT+ resources for an online friend.

I have been speaking with a person online who I think needs help. They come from a very religious background and are having some questions about their gender. I'm trying to help, but a lot of this is beyond my scope. I want to try to find a way to get them help, but I really don't know where to start. They are at UBC. so they have access to any of those resources and that's where I'm starting, but my time is limited and I was hoping I could save some work, by asking on here for anything that people think might help. Services, Groups, Organizations, Programs, anything. The biggest issue is that they can't speak about it. Like talking about it to a therapist sounds scary to them. I'm not experienced enough to give the best help here and I was hoping someone can assist me. I might be the only person this person can turn too. I just want to make sure they are ok. Thanks so much.

Have ken sim/abc social media ads been the pest campaing to vote for pete fry?

**opps i meant "BEST campaign" not "pest"

Like every ad makes it more clear to me how dishonest and deceitful their party is willing to be to stay in power. Its kinda nuts.

I dont know if its bc im so entrenched in the progressive side(i am), but every time an ad for ken sim/abc comes into my algorithm or the radio its just full of falsehoods or misinformation or if its true is just a reminder to vote for anyone else but him?

ABC: Pete Fry wants to slow down streets to make them safer.

Me: yes, please?

Hope we throw a big street celebration when we kick these guys out of city hall.

If you still havent voted. The Vancity LookOut has a council vote tracker tool that shows how they voted for each motion.

RESEARCH AND GO VOTE!

Get out and vote on Saturday!

If you're a Canadian citizen who hasn't voted, I encourage you to do so on Saturday before 8 pm.

Here in Burnaby, it appears that people aren't super satisfied with the majority Burnaby Citizens Association and want a change. Same thing in Vancouver, and Richmond too.

Take 10 minutes this Saturday and make sure your voice is heard by voting for as few as 1 candidate. In fact, if you vote for less than the maximum allowable amount of candidates, each one of your votes means more.

If you don't vote, you're not allowed to complain about the results!

Odyssey or Street Fighter🤔

Has anyone seen Odyssey or Street Fighter? What did you think? If you’ve seen both, which one did you prefer?

I’m planning to watch one of them tonight at Scotiabank Theatre in Vancouver. If anyone else is going, feel free to say hi😁

Matchstick on Kingsway was my go-to but they’re gone. Ok, I once got them at Bump and Grind so I made my way over there. Today I found out that they don’t carry them anymore 😐

I’m big on buying local and all, not online. Who’s got them?

There's talk of eliminating the poetry panels on buses, space for which is donated by Translink. It's not like Translink sells out its ad space anyway...losing this little thing that provides moments of consolation for many would be just a shame.
