"The next chapter is, you know, I don't really want to get too far ahead of myself, but the inspiration behind it was Denzel [Washington] and Spike Lee, you know, 'Malcolm X'. I'm ready to go redhead on them, go stupid." (via Rolling Stone)

Hi everyone, I put out this video about Ne-Yo and I feel like some of you would find it interesting. Put a lot of time into it. Sorry if I'm braking any self-promo rules but it is on topic I guess. Love!!

'So, her and Kenny have been working together, then?' She smiles mischievously.
We've been in the studio at some point, yeah."

She also described learning from Kendrick by simply observing his energy in the studio:

"When I was in the studio with him, I would just watch, just be the audience and be like, 'Wow, I want to see how you work.' I would learn from that. Kendrick is the type of person, I think, who you don't have to be around much or talk to a lot to get his energy and be inspired by it. And that is something that's really special." (via Wonderland)

What are y’all listening to? Perfect fall day for some Lorde and pumpkin spice.

No hate to Drake but calling him "The Boy" has lately been so weird to hear. Dude is almost 50 years old at this point and his fans still call him the boy. I guess it was fine to say this like 15 years ago but now he's gotten old and you can see it.

He literally said that he's no longer The Boy and he's become a man in his song in 2013 so you Drake fans need to start giving him a listen btw because y'all are ignorant as hell

"For the past year l've been watching so much happen in the culture while working on music. I think about how it started..."

"Sometimes I look at all artists, creators and executives the same way. The music game forgets or doesn't compensate the foundation.
Our greats have been stolen from and ripped off of."

"We can't keep creating music for the sake of a
'trend.' We have to remember the purpose and our contribution and how many things we created ... It's time for a celebration of the music."

"It's time to address it. Love y'all. Nasir Jones.

"I think it would solidify everything that | worked hard for. I worked so hard on this, and I intentionally wanted to win one."

"But this year my focus was really about the music. 60 dates sold out. It's people who won Grammys that can't even sell out arenas.
These ideas, we're giving people performance art that has never been seen.”

Not tryna hate or anything but numbers aren't everything. You have to consider quality and replay value. I don't see people talking about Drake outside of Reddit, whereas Kendrick gets quoted and talked a lot more.

Apparently views is the most streamed Drake album rn but There's more chat about Section 80 than Views in 2026 so I guess his music is not that long lasting

"When I wrote 'expectations, initially, it was kind of like as a challenge to myself. I wanted to write a mantra song. I wanted to be like, "I want to sing this song every night." It's like Kendrick Lamar, "Sit down, be humble," it gets in your brain. You know what I mean? It's a mantra."

She also cited Chappell Roan as an influence. (via Zane Lowe)
