Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs moved to a new prison after reports of a luxury lifestyle behind bars

u/AudibleNod 14h ago
The federal Bureau of Prisons is transferring Combs, 56, from FCI Fort Dix to FCI Allenwood Low, a low-security facility south of Williamsport and about 155 miles (250 kilometers) west of New York City, the person said. The person was not authorized to speak publicly and did so on condition of anonymity.
Ooh, Martin Shkreli served time at that prison. And Bob Menendez is there now.

u/ronnycordova 14h ago
Allenwood used to have a hidden little summer camp on the property. It just recently got sold to the county for landfill expansion. Maybe if he’s good they will let him walk the bunkers.

u/WhitePackaging 13h ago
Martin Shkreli deserves nothing but to be in 23.5 hour lockdown.

u/ghostalker4742 6h ago
He'll be back soon enough. He violated his terms by investing in pharmaceutical companies, among other infractions.

It’s truly sickening how much treatment these wealthy people have.

u/CrankyYankers 14h ago
Mexican people have told me that in their prisons if you have money the sky is the limit. You can get whatever you want. It's just the way it is.
114
u/ThothAmon71 13h ago
My cousin was in federal penitentiary here. He said he did just as much dope, if not more, while he was locked up. His brother has money, lots.
68
u/StaysAwakeAllWeek 14h ago
Its a double edged sword. You can get what you want, but youll also be paying a protection racket if you dont want to get stabbed. And that racket will shake you down for as much as they think you can afford
51
u/CrankyYankers 14h ago
Unless you are the person running the racket. They are the ones with the best lives in their prisons.

Federal prisons are generally pretty safe as far as prisons go, particularly low security ones.
7
u/Obvious_Toe_3006 13h ago
No doubt that it is true you can get anything you want but Diddy got the one thing you should never get ..publicity.

Ditty did reportedly get his head smashed in recently by a Jamaican kingpin called Dudas, Christopher Coke. Perhaps that has something to do with his transfer.

u/Rynetx 14h ago
Gotta wonder if Coke is his real last name. If so I don’t think he had a choice in his career.

WHAT? Diddy can’t take a beating? Different story when he’s the one being beaten.
15
u/MyPrisonAccount 13h ago
It doesn’t take much money to have a phone, booze, and drugs in a federal facility at lower security levels.
When I was in, phones were cheaper inside than out. Booze was about $80 a bottle. If you wanted something from Amazon, it took three days to show up.
Money gives you access to more of it there. The really troubling part about money and the justice system is the ability to fight back and to get a fair trial to begin with.

u/Dr_thri11 14h ago
If the guards were treating him differently than any other high profile prisoner then they should at the very least be fired and investigated. But not much you can do about someone paying other prisoners for services, it happens at a much lower level everyday in every prison.

u/Trauma 13h ago
When you pay people a living wage and offer reasonable working conditions, you can eliminate most corruption. Just saying.
→ More replies (1)13
u/Dr_thri11 13h ago
Federal prison guards do alright. It takes pretty much no education pays like 60k/yr and comes with very generous benefits.
12
u/dragthelake19 13h ago
They still can't get anyone to work. They recently lowered the qualifications because staffing numbers are so low.
10
u/Dr_thri11 13h ago edited 13h ago
It obviously isn't a career many people would want to pursue. Pay isn't really the issue. Nobody wants to spend all day baby sitting criminals.
8
u/dynamically_drunk 12h ago
Pay is always the issue. 60k a year isn't enough to draw people in to do a shitty job. If they were offering 100-150k a year their applicant pool would definitely increase.
Justifying paying prison guards a competitive wage is a separate issue.
→ More replies (1)5
u/Trauma 12h ago
For the right pay it could be.
Historically that’s how you incentivize people to do unpleasant work.
7
u/Legitimate-Type4387 12h ago
It’s 2026. You just lower the living standards for everyone so that people are lining up for those $60k jobs.
It’s like no one has ever read Grapes of Wrath these days….
2
u/_Burning_Star_IV_ 11h ago
Pay is exactly the issue.
My wife's company constantly has staffing issues but they won't raise wages or benefits.
If you are having problems finding qualified candidates its because you aren't offering a compelling reason to work there.
8
u/Legitimate-Type4387 12h ago
A whole $60k? Lol
You think that’s all it takes for people to turn down making an extra few k here and there?

There are fundamental problems with keeping a multimillionaire in prison, having them be able to access their money, and expecting the prison to be fair and equal
7
u/Dr_thri11 13h ago
Cash itself is banned in prison. They buy shit in the comissary and trade it for favors. But if you take the comissary away that takes away the small amount of pleasure available in prison for everyone.
2
u/Shawnj2 13h ago
There could be a max limit on. The amount of stuff you can buy in the commissary, like no more than $500 a week or something to limit abuse
3
u/Dr_thri11 13h ago
Would cut down on it some but you still have lots of people in prison with nothing. Those with money will always be able to trade with them.
→ More replies (1)5
u/wherescookie 12h ago
I assumed the rich also "pay" via outside prison 3rd party to 3rd party.
Like the lawyer gets someone to give the inmate's gf $200 cash etc
6
u/Dr_thri11 12h ago edited 9h ago
Yep especially at Diddy's level. Maybe the rando middle class drug dealer isn't going to do that but nothing stopping Diddy from buying a fellow inmate's wife a car in exchange for basically being his man servant for the duration of whichever's sentence is shorter.

u/dietchaos 14h ago
It's not special treatment as much as it is corruption. None of this is sanctioned by the prison system but guards are notoriously corrupt and will do anything for enough money.

It really depends on the prison you’re in. Gisselle Maxwell is in what’s considered to be a luxury prison.
10
u/BigFuckingGainz 14h ago
While I don’t disagree, it’s how the world works. What’s the point of having all that money if it doesn’t buy you preferential treatment, pun intended.
3
u/b_y_o_b_y_o_b 13h ago
It's now how the world works, but maybe how the US prison system works. There are plenty of countries where money and celebrity status won't buy you special treatment.

The guy has hundreds of millions of dollars. Filling the commissary of every threatening dude in there would not scratch 1% of his wealth.
He will live as comfortably as a person can behind bars, no matter where they put him.
10
u/18MazdaCX5 14h ago
And then he will be out in a few years and probably make millions more off a book he writes about prison....

My dad’s a vet with brain cancer, and I’ve been having to run a GoFundMe to help my family out with the financials - last month he was kicked out of a nursing home over an argument about physical therapy (I’m pretty sure they just wanted to get rid of a high maintenance patient). Meanwhile Diddy gets fine alcohol and porn in jail.
It’s always great to see “American values” are still a thing. 🤷♂️

Rich people mostly commit rich people's crimes, are pretty low risk (*) and usually are not dangerous.
Low security prisons are a good place to work as a guard or warden too, since you avoid most of the drama, drug use and crazy people.
On the other hand, poor and/or mentally ill people are the the bulk of the generic prison's population. They committed poor people crimes, are kind of desperate, have a lot of social issues, and nobody gives a shit.
(*) there is still the occasional exception like Hans Reiser who ended up in maximum security in gen pop.

Meanwhile, Jason Watson has been stuck in solitary confinement for 3 months because he dared to speak against this administration.
There is no justice. That man has a family and children and he’s being tortured just for speaking conscience.

u/SubstantialPressure3 9h ago
In the wake of the NBC report, Combs was placed in the prison’s special housing unit, a heavily secured part of the facility away from the general population, for inmates with disciplinary issues or security concerns. He has also been docked 41 days of good-conduct credit, pushing his release date back to March 2, 2028, according to the person familiar with the matter.
I still can't believe he only got 4 years.
5
u/127-0-0-1_1 5h ago
The prosecution couldn't get him on anything but infamously bullshit laws. The actual law he broke was transportation across state lines for prostitution, e.g you drove across a state boundary to have sex.
The Mann Act was infamous for being used to prosecute gay people - being gay wasn't a crime, but you can throw anyone that drives over a state boundary to hook up in a federal prison.

Forget where I heard it but I remember hearing in some podcast or something that everybody in prison LOVED Bernie Madoff, he was genuinely popular and treated with the respect of a mob boss or something lol. And to be fair he apparently helped them file legal documents etc. Always stuck with me for some reason, dude single handedly collapses the global economy and is viewed as a legend in prison for it lol.

We've got to stop allowing luxury prisons to be a thing.
8
u/PhAnToM444 10h ago
They aren’t. He’s at a pretty typical low security federal facility. He’s just breaking the rules a lot:
“smuggling in Hennessy, having fellow inmates cook, clean, make his bed and give him massages, and using a contraband cellphone to view social media and an ex-girlfriend’s nude selfies.
In the wake of the NBC report, Combs was placed in the prison’s special housing unit, a heavily secured part of the facility away from the general population, for inmates with disciplinary issues or security concerns. They moved him because he asked for it.

Doesn’t matter how many prisons he’s moved to, he’s going to live a luxury lifestyle behind bars. Being part of the wealthy elite will benefit a person no matter what circumstance they find themselves in, unfortunately.

And after Mike Tyson delivered a letter from Diddy to Trump. Just like Ghislaine got moved right after talking to Trump's lawyer. Not sure why they're trying to connect this move to the reports of his luxury lifestyle. Well, yes I am, the media is on their side.

He's being moved because he was attacked and is an obvious target at that facility.
It has nothing to do with his "lifestyle."
17
u/figuren9ne 14h ago
It’s both. He was attacked because after the reports of his special treatment came out, the guards tightened up on everyone else, including Dudus. Dudus lost access to his cell phone and wasn’t happy about that.
→ More replies (1)6
u/Headline-Skimmer 13h ago
Apparently, his "lifestyle" led to several incidents of guards searching/confiscating from his fellow prisoners. It was a response to these raids (due to his "lifestyle") that resulted in the angry confrontation.
6
u/avocadoflatz 14h ago
Might the lifestyle he bought himself be related to the attack?

u/tabrizzi 13h ago
Despite being an "obvious target", he's still able to:
enjoy aspects of his millionaire lifestyle at FCI Fort Dix, smuggling in Hennessy, having fellow inmates cook, clean, make his bed and give him massages, and using a contraband cellphone to view social media and an ex-girlfriend’s nude selfies.

u/tabrizzi 7h ago
Even here in the land of the "free", the Queen of Cocaine met with a boyfriend on a fairly regular basis while in prison. (CC2: Hustling with the Godmother.).
2
u/UbiSububi8 12h ago
Then the report you’re quoting from came out - which led to him being attacked by another inmate, which led to his hospitalization.
There is every reason to think the guy who attacked him would do so again, hence he is now an “obvious target”
Also, they’ve restricted his ability to enjoy some of what you’ve listed since the attack and hospitalization.
So, yeah, he’s an obvious target (and I say this as someone who doesn’t give two shits about Diddy).
Circumstances change - even when your understanding of them doesn’t.
