Self-Promo and Fan Art Thread Weekly Friday Self-Promotion and Fan Art Thread
The Self-Promotion Friday and Fan Art Thread serves as a place for content creators to share their work with the community at r/nba. If you'd like to post your work below, there are some guidelines we kindly ask you to follow:
- No linking out to re-sellers/retailers and/or directly selling merchandise via any e-commerce/marketplace type of website (i.e. Etsy, Society 6, Fiverr, etc...). Any websites or blogs explicitly asking users for donations or monetary compensation via any sort of online or mobile payment services are prohibited.
- No linking out to content behind paywalls or content requiring users to register/create an account in order access said content.
- Content must be relevant to the NBA or r/nba. Comments with content not relevant to the aforementioned will be removed.
- Be an active member of our community outside of self-promoting your own content. Comments from accounts with the same namesake as a brand or content being promoted will be removed.
- No spam. No spamming other users' comments or spamming other users' private messages.
Any comments failing to meet the guidelines outlined above will be removed and users may be subject to a ban. We'd also advice familiarizing yourself with Reddits' self-promotion policy.

I built a blind "who had the better season?" game for NBA fans
Two NBA player-seasons; you pick the better one. Half the time, names, teams, and photos are hidden until you vote, so the site can measure how much a famous name changes people's picks. The rankings come from head-to-head votes. Photos are free-licensed from Wikimedia.
It's new, so the results unlock as votes come in. Feedback welcome!

Built Hoople, a wordle style game but for basketball reads.
Each play runs for 2 seconds in first person, then freezes, and you pick the read. Then you watch what happens and get a short explanation of why it was right or wrong. After each play it shows what % of players got it right.
There's a 10-play IQ test that gives you a score: https://playhoople.com/#iq?utm_source=reddit
3 new daily plays here: https://playhoople.com/?utm_source=reddit
free to play, no sign-up needed. I'd really like feedback from people who actually play: are any of the "best reads" wrong? Are there situations you'd want added? Drop your IQ score if you take it.

A few years ago, I created this data visualization/art of Kobe Bryant's career scoring by game. Sharing it here for people to enjoy. Feel free to let me know your thoughts and/or your favorite Kobe moments. Here's the link; https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/jeff.plattner4532/viz/KobePrint/Kobescoringradial

Hey all, I have been sports writing for a bit but never about the NBA. I started an NBA Substack and would love y'all to read it. My writing is still a work in progress so feel free to let me know your thoughts!

Been building this for a while — GOAT Chaser, a free browser game built around a live all-time NBA ranking. You draft an all-time 5 (one per position), each guy's worth points based on where he sits in the live ranking, and you chase 470 for GOAT status. There's also head-to-head voting — pick the winner and every vote moves the leaderboard.
The ranking is a career-stats model blended with fan votes (fan influence caps at 70% once a guy has enough matchup data, so a few homer votes can't nuke it). Current top 10:
- Michael Jordan 98.51
- LeBron James 96.37
- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 94.51
- Bill Russell 84.99
- Tim Duncan 79.10
- Kobe Bryant 73.76
- Wilt Chamberlain 73.73
- Magic Johnson 72.96
- Shaquille O'Neal 72.13
- Larry Bird 70.19
Kobe just edged Wilt for #6 — by 0.03 points. And the fans have overruled the model twice: it had Kareem #2 and Kobe #8, but voting flipped LeBron past Kareem and lifted Kobe to #6.
Free to play, ranking formula's published on the site — tell me where it's wrong: https://playgoatchaser.com/?ref=nba_community_promo

70% is still most of the score; once players hit that cap, career stats account for only 30%. That makes this a pretty fan-heavy GOAT ranking.

My mates and I have run an NBA pick’em on a shared spreadsheet for years, picking the winner of every game. One point each and whoever’s ahead at the end of the season gets the bragging rights. It's worked fine but was super manual.
So I built a proper version. You can do the whole league or just one team. Picks lock automatically 30 minutes before each tip-off, scores update themselves, the leaderboard sorts itself out.
It's free, no betting, no money anywhere in it, no ads. Just guessing the games. I built it for my own group and figured other people may also wanna do it.
