I haven't seen this brought up anywhere yet, did anyone else feel like there were a striking number of parallels between the second half of YCSE and the Nathan for You finale?
They both center around a woman who is absent from the film, aside from a single phone call. They're primarily concerned with interrogating the motivations and integrity of a man who claims to love her deeply, but is also a creep and clearly dishonest and delusional and may only love the construct of her he's built in his mind, or just be putting it on for the cameras. And they both have a parallel storyline about Nathan developing a relationship with an attractive blonde stand-in for that woman, who is extremely charming but also a professional performer, which might inherently cast some doubt on her sincerity.
