Since there are so many of you asking the same things about the impending storm, let’s gather some pertinent info for you. First thing you need to know, it’s going to rain. A lot. At the risk of being crude, it’ll be wetter than a Kardashian at an NBA game. It’ll be windy, but barring an unexpected strengthening, it won’t be hurricane level winds.
A large chunk of Horry and Georgetown counties are developed wetlands, meaning it floods fairly easily. Without getting into the science of it all, this storm has the potential to dump a lot of rain that we normally wouldn’t get from a storm coming in directly from the Atlantic. Know your flood zones and travel routes and plan accordingly. Contact whoever you’re renting from (air bnb owners, hotels, etc) and ask about how flooding has impacted where you’re staying.
If you feel like the locals aren’t that concerned about the storm and aren’t taking your questions seriously, remember that most of us have been dealing with this kind of weather for years or decades. It would be like going to Buffalo and asking if you should cancel going to that Bills game because of snow. The best thing you can do is educate yourself about what to expect. I’ve provided links below. If you don’t feel comfortable dealing with the storm, by all means reschedule your plans. It’s better to be calm and safe at home than to be in an unfamiliar place and scared. Local emergency services will have their hands full as it is, they don’t need uninformed visitors getting into situations that can be easily avoided.
Know where dry ground can be found. Stay indoors until the storm passes, and for the love of all that’s holy, stay off the roads until you know your travel route is clear for traffic.

We are quickly coming to the end of the season and in this last year the sub has grown significantly.
Normally we have automod which puts posts and comments in a queue for approval if your account is still new but we are struggling to keep up with this.
I have nerfed automod much more recently as an expirement to see if we can rely more on reports rather than manually approving so if you see something that violates the rules report it.
That being said, disagreeing with a political posts and reporting it will eventually get you ban. Those are allowed. The good news is I don't care which side you are on because they are both awful in my opinion and I hate the modern censorship that happens on the internet because it isolates people into groups. So feel free to argue all you want but If your argument is "fuck you x sucks" don't be surprised if it's removed... We still have to follow reddits rules or the sub will be ban.
Lastly if anyone is interested in being a mod I'll consider adding people. Feel free to post below and whether you have experience or not.

I'm from out of state and recently got a speeding ticket in Myrtle Beach. I searched on Reddit for answers before court but couldn't find them so I'm making this post to let everyone know what to expect if they also got a speeding ticket as an out of state-er.
Court took place in Conway, SC. At the start of court, someone from the solicitors office made an announcement that if you had a traffic ticket and were interested in taking a driving course to get it removed, to come to a room down the hall.
Once there she further explained that the course was ~$300 and lasted 4 hours but it had to be taken in person. They have the class multiple days a week, including Saturdays. The class runs from 8:30-12:30.
2, 4 and 6 point offenses can apply. The only qualifications to take the course are that A) you have never taken it in SC before 2) your license is not a CDL
Once the course is complete, the ticket(s) will be removed from your record. I actually had 2 tickets, speeding and expired registration, and both will be removed.
It could not have been easier and I think it's a more than fair trade! Let me know if you have any questions.
EDIT: There is an option to pay your ticket online, but by doing so you are accepting guilt and your insurance will be affected.

I just purchased a manufactured home in Ocean Pines, which is Murrells Inlet off of Garden City connector. Would appreciate suggestions on who to call for home insurance. My home is 1987 and it has an older hot water heater, HAVC unit and roof. Have a feeling this may be a difficult endeavor. Any suggestion for agents or company would be greatly appreciated.

Hello. I'll be at Myrtle Beach on Christmas and a few days after with a friend. I'm thinking of getting a tattoo while I'm there. My friend may want one too. Mine will likely just be a handwritten quote in black ink (similar to the ones I have in the pic).
What shops do you recommend? We're staying downtown on the boardwalk. We don't drive but can Uber as long as it's not an hour away or something like that.
Also, I'm disabled and use a rolling walker/rollator so the place needs to be accessible (1 or 2 steps to get in is ok, but more than that probably isn't going to be doable).
Thank you

I’m a paramedic from Boston but i literally cant stand the cold (i have hypothyroidism, and cold is physically painful for me). I’ve been planning out a way to stay jan-march on mrytle beach. I’ve found some cheap enough airbnbs and i dont anticipate money will be an issue, but i want to at least work a little bit so i can meet people and hopefully not live off of savings the whole time. Any suggestions on jobs or anything else? Hopefully only about 20-30 hrs a week.

So I was working at the Coastal Carolina University football game last night in one of the concession stands, and they were going to throw away literally hundreds of hot dogs. I took a whole bag of them (probably about 100-125 hot dogs), but I don't know where to bring them. I looked up food banks / soup kitchens in the area, but it looks like none of them are open on the weekends. If you have any recommendations, or want hot dogs yourself, please let me know, as I would rather not see these get thrown away.
Also, I think it's shitty that Coastal Carolina consistently overestimates how many hot dogs they need and then throw them out at the end of the game. I technically wasn't even allowed to take this many (they told the concession workers to throw them in the garbage). I don't know why they can't contact a food bank in the area to pick up extra food when the game is over.
Edit: I'm going to bring them to Fresh Brewed Coffee House but if anyone wants some, let me know in the next hour or so.

Just moved to little river, near the North Carolina boarder….
Hoping to make some friends…. I am 32F and would love to make some connections with people. I do work a lot, outside and in construction/handyman (….woman it truly is I suppose) and etc so I am busy a lot but I still would love to find some good, honest women to make friends with!

Wasnt sure what flair to put this under but where is a good place in the MB, CF, Or NMB area to buy duck? Fresh is preferred but I don't mind frozen. If whole duck isnt available breasts only are fine.

We Loved Scatoris when it was open. Our favorite Italian place to go. It's been gone for a while and we haven't found a close second. Looking for any recommendations. We are trying a place tonight called Toscana.

Hello Myrtle Beach community! I’m currently working on my Capstone project and would greatly appreciate your feedback by participating in my survey. As you complete the survey, think about your most recent experience dining at your favorite restaurant. The goal of my project is to explore the effectiveness of loyalty programs in the restaurant industry and how they influence customer satisfaction and dining habits.
Thank you for your time and support

I rented a climate controlled one in North Myrtle Beach and I saw a couple of German Cockroaches close to the entrance of the building, by a couple of units, and now I am overly paranoid. I don’t know if I want to keep things there. I’m not sure if this just goes for any storage unit or if there’s other good ones you guys can let me know about!

Where would one go to make friends? I’m 25F, I don’t drink anymore, i love the beach, working out, and spending time with my cat. I moved here recently from upstate SC and still getting used to the area. I’ve noticed people don’t really talk here besides the older ladies which I LOVE. helppp

Any recommendations on a local mechanic/auto repair shop? Would be for a 2015 Chevy, so doesn’t need to be vintage, etc.

We have a little golf trip coming up and are staying in Calabash. Just curious where is the place for guys mid to late 40's to hang at night. We don't like the younger crowds. I appreciate your input!
Thanks,
G

I'm visiting Myrtle Beach soon and love Japanese food. I'm looking for places with great sushi, ramen, or traditional dishes (not just hibachi). Any recommendations? Thank you!

My husband is simple and wants a quality blue-rare steak and seafood for his birthday this weekend. It is just us and we have no kids, so I want to go all out to find a restaurant he'll love.
We currently live about 45 minutes away from the beach and don't typically eat out too often.
Can anyone recommend a steak and seafood restaurant in the area ?
