Myopic CNV: Avastin vs Eylea 8

Hi everyone,

I have high myopia and was diagnosed with myopic CNV and a hemorrhage in the center of my macula in my right eye.

I’ve already had one Avastin injection, but so far I haven’t noticed any significant improvement in my vision. My retina specialist mentioned that she has seen somewhat better results with Eylea 8 mg, so I’m considering switching to it for my second injection.

Has anyone here switched from Avastin to Eylea 8 mg for myopic CNV? If so, did you notice any improvement in your vision or OCT results after switching?

I’d also love to hear from anyone who switched in the opposite direction, from Eylea to Avastin. Did one medication work better for you than the other?

I understand that everyone’s case is different, but I’d really appreciate hearing about your personal experiences, especially if you had a macular hemorrhage and a central blind spot or distortion.

Thank you!

Hello All,

I am a 20 yr old male, have an eyesight issue.

My eyes have floaters.....

Had visited eye doctor around 8 months ago.

But don't use the specs because I used to feel as if my head is spinning and I am going to lose my balance and fall although it never happened.

I am not using specs number is around 1.5 in both eyes.

But no the problem is that head spinning has intensified and could feel it even though not wearing specs.

Will visit doctor next week but please help me temporarily as I have my exams going on please guys.

Also tell if it could be any other reason.

Thank you.

Redness in my eye in the same spot

Am I okay? Is it going to go away? I’ve gotten enough sleep.
One thing though is when I’m awake (since I’m off work atm) I’ve been on my phone watching YouTube.
I went to sleep for a few more hours and the same redness was still in the same corner.
Am I going to be okay? I really hope it goes away

Future steps

I'm 22 years old and have -8 vision and some astigmatism. I was recently told that my cornea is too thin for lasik and other laser surgeries and I only have ICL as an option - which could have some bad complications if it goes wrong.

I looked into it and apparently even if I did get the ICL, my myopia would not stop getting worse which could put me at risk for all sorts of issues including blindness. Since I was in high school, I've been told that I need to come in immediately if I see any floaters or dark webs in my vision because I'm at high risk for corneal tears.

Other things caused by high myopia are also macular degeneration, retinal tears and detachment, cataracts, open angle glaucoma, and posterior staphyloma - I don't know what any of these are.

Is there any way to stop my myopia from getting worse? I read about avoiding strenuous activities but I'm also recovering from an eating disorder and my muscles are very weak so I need to eventually build my muscle mass and

I just don't know what to do.

So basically, like a week ago, I was in this sub, and I was saying how I think my myopia is stabilising despite me being 16. And I went to a different eye doctor (another eye doctor that I see in a different city) been with her for 2 years now, and the last time I had a change was last year October. She told me my eyes were stabilising. And she looked at my retinas and said they aren't getting worse.

Is this possible for me, a teen with very bad eye habits and SERVERE myopia, or are my doctors wrong?

Open to anyone, optometrist, teen, adult, anyone who's been told this/been through this.

Thank you.

Is this severe myopia?

Hi everyone, I’m a 20F and just got my new glasses today: **-5.50 in my left eye** and **-6.00 in my right eye**. I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 13, starting at -3.00 in both eyes. Growing up, I really wanted to act and be in front of the camera, but when I got glasses, a teacher convinced me that my aesthetic wouldn't work with them. Contacts scare me because they make my eyes extremely dry. I ended up doing pre-med and am now in vet school. However, this new prescription is triggering severe anxiety. Long study sessions give me bad headaches, and today I had one of the worst panic attacks of my life. I felt like a total failure and panicked about my future. No one around me has high myopia, so I feel very isolated. I wanted to ask: 1. Is -5.5 / -6.0 considered a very high prescription? 2. Has anyone in a intense academic program (like vet or medical school) dealt with this? How do you manage study headaches? 3. I’m thinking about LASIK down the road, but I'm terrified. Would it be worth looking into? Any reassurance or advice would mean a lot. Thank you!you manage study headaches?

I have perfect vision and I've just had mine and my 2 sons eyes tested, they need glasses. these are their results like how bad is it? I know absolutely nothing about any of this 🤣 the one that says recall in 6 months is my 12 year old and the 12 month recall is my 13 year old. thanks

Mon avis sur l'ortho-k

Salut !

High myopia (-9.00) — updated OCT/OCTA shows macular haemorrhage, possible lacquer crack, and no obvious CNV. Can distortion improve?

Hi everyone,

I’m 27 years old with high myopia (approximately -9.00 D in my right eye). I’m looking for experiences from people who have had a similar macular haemorrhage and retinal findings.

My latest retinal assessment dated 8 October reported the following for my right eye:

Macular haemorrhage (“heme at macula”)

Possible lacquer crack / possible break in Bruch’s membrane

OCT: loss of normal foveal contour, CMT 366 µm, with no subretinal fluid (SRF) or intraretinal fluid (IRF)

OCTA: no obvious abnormal vascular network seen; the specialist documented that no active membrane was noted and recommended observation

No treatable peripheral retinal lesions noted in the right eye

I’m experiencing metamorphopsia: text and straight lines look pinched or bent in a localised area of my right-eye vision. The distortion has improved somewhat, but it is still present.

My specialist recommended observation and prescribed nepafenac eye drops.

I would really appreciate hearing from people who have had high-myopia-associated macular haemorrhage, possibly related to a lacquer crack, without an obvious CNV network on OCTA.

  1. Did your visual distortion improve as the haemorrhage resolved?

  2. How long did it take to notice meaningful improvement?

  3. Did your OCT eventually show recovery of the foveal contour?

  4. Did the distortion disappear completely, or did some remain?

  5. Was observation sufficient, or did you later need further treatment?

I understand that individual outcomes vary and that my scans need to be interpreted by my retina specialist. I’m hoping to learn from people with similar findings rather than assume that my case will follow the same course.

Thank you for sharing your experiences.

I just got my essilor lenses, and I see sh*t

I have been using seiko lenses for the past 6 years, and my diopter has changed only two times, so been using seiko over two different prescriptions, antiblue 1,74 and they were so good and I’m happy with those glasses.
My current glass frame is old and a bit chopped, so I wanted to change them. I went to this optic store, I found a great pair of Ray Ban. They said to me that essilor is the greatest lenses in the world and I should get new lenses by them. I got essilor lenses (-5,50 and -6,50) with sapphire and crizal (antiblue), the prescription is the same as in the last glasses I’m using for these 3 last years cuz nothing have changed.
4 hours ago I got the new pair of glasses with essilor lenses, I hate them, first I thought it’s the problem with the prescription, but they are the exact ones I ordered. I can’t see properly, I cant see people faces clearly, I can’t read from the same distance I can with the last lenses, and they are giving me an headache. I went to the optics they said give it some time to adapt if you dont then come and we will get you a new pair. The only other lenses they can order is from Rodenstock and I thought it’s better to get a new pair from them not to go again for essilor.
Perhaps it would be better to keep them simple not to put antiblue or any type of coating except anti reflective and 1,74 thinning

Please if you have some kind of same experience let me know!

Thank you very much!

can anyone clear this doubt

I'm 21 years old. My left eye prescription is -5.00 spherical and -0.50 cylindrical, and my right eye prescription is -1.00 spherical. I have a significant difference in prescription between my two eyes. Should I wear glasses to correct this difference, and can wearing them cause any long-term damage or issues like a squint or strabismus in the future?

I (22M) was visiting Varanasi for work and decided to get my eyes checked since I'd never had my retinas examined 🥀🥀 the doctor found lattice degeneration with hole and atrophic holes in both eyes, so I had barrage laser surgery done

.

My question: will it affect my workout, calisthenics, running?

edit: Will it also lead to more complications later in life ?

Could you give a recommendation?

Hello. I am 22 years old and have amblyopia in my left eye, as well as astigmatism in both eyes. I have consulted many doctors, tried wearing an eye patch, and used glasses, but nothing has helped. I don’t know what to do or how to proceed. I struggle significantly with reading and learning, and unfortunately, I haven't been able to build a career because of these issues. Life feels meaningless. I tried to pursue a path in the field of data, but I couldn't complete it. What should I do?

Lowkey terrified for my future

Hi guys, my apologies if this post will come off as dumb. This is just my overthinking a** speaking atm. But how many among you here have also been suspected for glaucoma or has this yellow borderline detected on the eye after getting an OCT? I am 24 and I have myopia since I was a kid (around 9-11). Now my grade is -5.0 and I recently found I have astigmatism of -1.25. The specialist found a small yellow portion on my results in the right eye and stated its borderline and need to get checked by a specialist for glaucoma. Im lowkey terrified right now.

Went from -4.5L -4.75R to -6.25L -6.75R (contacts prescription) in one year - thinking about myopia control.

As the title suggests, my prescription went up so much in only one year, and my optometrist suggested myopia control soft lenses, so i'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this (and if they would recommend it)?

For context, recently i switched optometrists, and haven't seen one since last year in June. Because my prescription went up so much, they recommended myopia control to me. However, i'm unsure if it would change how i see/comfort in my eye/routine. I was recommended the soft lenses, as the ortho-k hard lenses wouldn't be much use (which i've tried before) due to my eyes being both long and flat (allegedly pretty incompatible for ortho-k).

Also, both my parents have bad eyesight (my father having around -5 both eyes and my mom having around -3.5 both eyes). I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this, and how well it worked for them! Thanks so much!

Glasses advice for high myopia

Hey, SO apparently because of my Dry eyes syndrome I won’t be able to wear contacts anymore. Which means I need to get comfortable wearing glasses. I have -9. These are the glasses I have right now. And I feel like they distort my face a lot. I am so embarrassed I avoid eye contact whenever I have them on, even though I really like the glasses themselves. Do you think that with the second pair of glasses the minification and “unharmony” effect would be less evident? What do you think? I just don’t want people to think my eyes look weird lol

Severe myopia my entire life. Now dealing with elevated IOP.

First diagnosed I think in 2nd or 3rd grade. My prescription has stabilized at -7.5 in each eye and has been that way for about 20 years. Had to go to Ophthalmologist for the first time at 58 (this year) because of high eye pressure. Had SLT done to reduce eye pressure which seems to be working so far. Field of vision is good. Just trying to keep on top of these issues.

Glasses - gave up on progressives a couple of years ago because I could get a decent pair made to go with my myopia and reading correction. I use computer glasses and distance glasses which has worked best.

When I first started wearing glasses, they were glass and they would leave a red mark on my nose. Even had a pair fall of and smash into a million pieces. Ah the good old days!

I need to be better about my eye health and health in general.

Recovering from a retinal detachement, I was lucky so far with the recovery. Everything is healing nicely and the gas bubble will be gone in a few weeks, but ive been doing alot of thinking this past week. I have not been staying on top of my eye health. My family has a history of bad eyes, and I should be proactive. This is my second tear in roughly 6 years in the same eye.

Ive honestly been so complacent because contact lenses have been giving me 20/20 vision since I was 18. Im 37 now, havent worn glasses in 19 years, and my prescription is -10 and -8.5. I just wanted to write this out and share my thoughts with people who have high myopia too and start being a part of the community.

Things Ill be working on moving forward

- Going to the retina specialist at minimum once a year, or twice if they allow it.

- Fix my diet, my family has a history of diabetes but so far ive been clear.

- Work on getting back into shape, especially after kids and a horrible work schedule.
