Dead Animal Fruitbat that decided to die in my backyard, hanging over the grave I dug for him
Australia 2026
Fruitbat died of natural causes. Definitely a male. Flies got to him so I had to bury.

We will no longer be allowing random photos of animal carcasses. Posting guidelines will be stricter and low-effort posts will be removed. We’ve been trying to remove those kinds of posts behind the scenes, but there has been an uptick of them overtime. I will be adding a new rule to combat these posts:
Rule #5 - Dead animal posts ARE allowed under specific conditions
About - Posts about animals cannot solely be roadkill, the carcass would have to be posed and beautified (think taxidermy) or the landscape/background has to be beautiful or artsy in some way. However, if the animal itself is beautiful (colors, natural deceased position, etc.), then the post could be allowed as well.
Exemplar dead animal posts (in no particular order):
I can’t list them all out, but these posts show the gist of what we are looking for. Thank you to others who have been posting quality dead animal posts as well, please continue to do so.
NOTE: This new change will be in effect starting now, so old ill fitting posts will not be subjugated to removal. Don’t go back and report old posts.

Hello r/morbidlybeautiful subreddit users! u/Elfendidlie and I have been trying our best to determine the best course action to take as far as the future of this subreddit goes. We both would like to know your honest opinions concerning the current state of this sub, what you as a community would like to see, and what you envision the future of this subreddit to look like. As mods, we both have had a certain level of post quality we hoped we'd see from the posters of this sub. Without realizing it, we may have ostracized our main community members without meaning to. We would like to hear from the community as a whole. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Try to be as respectful as possible, Ultimately we want this sub to thrive. We want to know what would it take to do that, even if the truth hurts. No one should be judged for their opinion, and anyone who does that will be met with a ban. We are going out of our way to get the truth so that this subreddit will continue to thrive. Thank you to all those who have stuck with us. ❤️ mods of r/morbidlybeautiful.

My friend found these 4 dead birds all near each other outside of their medical appointment. Does anyone have any idea how or why they might have all died at the same time/place?
They’re in my freezer now because my partner is hoping to preserve them somehow. We would really appreciate any suggestions on how to do so.
Thank you in advance!

Attended a paddle out this morning sending off a friend and all around wonderful human who had a huge impact on our local surf, skate, & snow community. He was taken far too soon by the evil that is cancer. I came across this sweet creature & did what I could to give it a proper send off as well. WBNC

Encontré a este pequeño en una caminata hoy, desconozco cuál es su causa de muerte.

My mom sent me this photo. A bird flew into the window and died, and a turtle is lying on its wing.

I put some morning glory buds around her before I buried her, hopefully they help her rest easy.

I found this fox a few months ago while I was walking along a riverbank with my puppy and I couldn't help but find it beautiful or poetic in a way because my puppy loves to nap in tall grass just like this and I was constantly coming across hidden fawns or does chewing their cud in the same general area.

Short original comic by me, Kate Archer. Scroll to the end for the picture I took of the baby bird’s burial.
In the Winter of 2024, I started composting and in the late Spring I’d start gardening. What began as an anxiety induced compulsion to have a “practical skill” while living in the churning inferno of late-stage america, quickly revealed itself to be a calming passion. I found this little bird last Summer and the experience hung with me.
The garden has taught me a lot of things and continues to help me work through depression, C-PTSD, and trauma, as well as be more present in my mind, body, & life on this earth. Thanks for lookin’

A beautiful native Australian bird. Death by window strike.
I’ve since painted this robin (different photo) in watercolour.

Put this little fellow under a tree surrounded by oak leaves a few nearby clovers.

I received this photo of a tawny owl from a friend. Very unnecessary death and a sad way to go. Still a very beautiful picture though. Rest in peace.
