The different ladies on the mild and spicy jerk sauce

I love Walkerswood, but you gotta start with the mild stuff. I had some of their scotch bonnet sauce at work and one of my coworkers decided to be brave. He had a rough time to say the least.

Huh, I'll have to try that then! I picked up their jonkanoo sauce a while back and I absolutely love it. It's not as spicy as I'd like though.

The scotch bonnet sauce is one of my favorites. A lot of flavor for the amount of heat

If you like good flavor rather than pure melt-your-face heat I HIGHLY recommend Secret Aardvark sauces.

And the lighter skin lady is on a beach. While the darker skin lady is in a village.
Implying the mild is for tourists (whites) and the hot is for locals (black/brown).

As a white lady give me the right one, my ancestors didn't colonize half the world for me not to burn my taste buds off on traditional spice blends.

As a brown guy give me the left one, my ancestors would appreciate that I can pick sauces at my whim like a king.

As a white guy my mouth wants the right and my guts want the left

u/Princess_Slagathor 10h ago
Maaan... FUCK getting old. My mouth still handles the spice just fine, but the guts make me want to kms myself for damn near a week after.

u/Tutes013 14h ago
How are these spices by the way?

u/UraniumRocker 14h ago
The hot & spicy version is really good. I used it for the first time with some wings a few weeks ago.

For super easy dinner, I throw some veggies, a bay leaf, salt, pepper and chicken thighs with a spoonful of this seasoning in a crockpot. White rice on the side. So good.

Definitely above white people spicy. I'd actually acclimate yourself to the milder one first even if you like heat
Edit: the white people spicy people offended

Define white people spicy?

My mom is from Massachusetts. Spicy for my relatives there is ground black pepper. I made them nacho cheese once with paprika, and that was really spicy for them.
You don't get whiter than that.

Definitely some of the best jerk marinade out there, if you want a medium spicy one mix the Hot with the Green Sauce instead of Mild; it adds additional flavor combinations instead of just toned down jerk like the mild

This is serendipitous. I JUST went looking for this seasoning for my Jerky recipe at my local fancy grocer, but they no longer stock it. Now that I know the brand I can probably find it online. Thank-you

My dumb self ordered it from the manufacturer's website. It arrived a couple of weeks later with an incredible amount of stamps on the package to cover shipping costs. Then I saw it in my local grocery store a fewof weeks later. Didn't realize that it had greatly widened it's distribution network.
Check around other grocery stores and your local farmers market.
Also likely available at huge chain grocery stores https://walkerswood.com/where-to-buy/

Lol. Does the brand come recommended? Doing it from scratch is best but it is quite the undertaking usually.

They put aunt Jemima on there

u/TinyNannerz 17h ago
I still call it aunt Jemima. She's America's auntie

u/Matthew-ii 15h ago
I have a bottle in the cupboard that I refuse to use 😂
Mostly because I buy real maple and the Jemima came from my mother-in-law but still it feels like I'm keeping her alive lmao.

Dumb question. I've always seen these... but how do I use them? Pre cooked meat or like a BBQ sauce? I just cooked some bland chicken so I can chop it up w/ onions, tomatoes, chives and season as I eat. Can I use this to marinate in cooked chicken? Educate me please.

u/aaroneous_erron 12h ago
It's not as thin as a standard sauce is, it's more like a paste-- I usually rub it directly onto the meat like a wet rub, leave it overnight to marinate, and then grill. It's safe to eat raw, though, so you could add it to something you've already cooked!

Some meats are safe to eat raw.
Just don’t fuck around with chicken or pork lmfao

u/aaroneous_erron 4h ago
just to clarify I meant that the walkerswood jerk is safe to eat raw! not, like, raw marinated meat.

I've got some chicken thighs marinading in them and I'll put them on the BBQ tonight. I also like to put some into rice to spice it up!

u/ChunkyHabeneroSalsa 12h ago
Rub it on chicken the night before and then smoke it.
It's a pretty spicy and salty paste. Not really a sauce

u/WearingKapital 11h ago
I usually rub it beforehand on meat, bonus if the chicken has skin on, you can stuff it under the skin
I’ve also mixed with bbq sauce too which is pretty good.

I marinade it in the paste and then grill. Delicious. The hot and spicy is pretty hot so stick with the mild if you aren't sure.

u/fueled_by_rootbeer 12h ago
To be fair, with the color change in the background, the ladies on the left bottle would have blended in too much on the spicy bottle so the skin tone change is very practical

u/heftybagman 15h ago
Uhh yeah im gonna smoke a jerked pork tenderloin over apple and hickory wood this evening.

LOVE Walkerswood, but god damn is that mild so spicy. I could never try the hot, it would destroy my stomach!

u/StitchinThroughTime 2m ago
If it was truly mild, that lady would be blond, blue eyed and sunburnt.

Really just shading and can arguably the same person...reading some comments here has me concerned though saying aunt Jemima...

I always joke with my wife (who can't handle much heat at all) that if something isn't incredibly spicy, it's "White Girl Approved."

There's a rum from Belize called Big Titty Rum where their logo is a lady with big titties and her skin color is different depending on how dark the rum is.
1
u/LudditeJones 12h ago
Is the darker skinned woman photo bombing in the background of the mild sauce?
1
u/FairLawnBoy 10h ago
That's funny. But you should really look into Uncle Joe's. It's so much better than Walkerswood

Looks like it’s because the sun is fully out in the mild one. And the sun is setting in the spicy one

Every time I try this stuff it's really dark colored and has a nasty gamey scent on top of the normal smell of all the spices and herbs. It almost seems like it's not sealed or something. I love the flavor created from the spices and herbs, I'm definitely making my own marinade next time.
