Sales rep ghosted me Ghosted By Property Manager
I’m looking for an apartment and thought I’d found a pretty good listing on Nextdoor. Little did I know, this asshole was gonna waste an hour and a half of my time and not even acknowledge it. What a dick.
Not shown in the screenshots: me calling his number and the number on the sign out front a total of seven (7) times.

You missed an opportunity to say yes and make him wait even longer through a series of ‘mishaps’ you encountered on your way back.

I have property managers do this shit to me when I'm going to service an appliance and they lose their shit when I tell them they have to call back to book in a new appointment

u/tubbytubbs666 5h ago
What a horrible way to do an apartment viewing, normally theyd be there to walk through with you and lock it up after.

u/harleyqueenzel 5h ago
Sounds like a scam. I hope you didn't send them all of your info and/or money.

A scam to what end? Get someone to drive around and waste their time?

u/aristurt 4h ago
A common one is "no tours without a deposit," and before you say that's stupid ... yes, it is. Nevertheless, it's done becsuse people fall for it. Much like Nigerian Princes who need a loan in order to get you more funds.

I may have cheered out loud when I got to "lol no"

I'm fine being the unpopular opinion. While you say an hour and a half of your time was wasted you went from " I'm waiting out front" [ 3:44] - to - "I'm leaving." [ 3:54 ]
From another perspective you waited 10 min and threw a hissy fit.
6
u/mencival 2h ago
No response since 3:38. 3:54 is just saying “I’m leaving” and no response to that as well. It is one thing to be late but another thing to not even respond within the timeframe of the arrangement

u/i8yourmom4lunch 5h ago
OP was ten minutes late and texted warning, so pm or landlord should have had 20 minutes to relay their delay
But they didn't
I'm not waiting for a landlord who can't communicate

u/BayYawnSay 5h ago
Would you want them to grant you some grace if for any reason you were going to have to pay your rent late? It goes both ways.
11
u/mitsyamarsupial 4h ago
I would put cash money down that it would never occur to a property manager who doesn't show up to a viewing that another human deserves grace for any reason.

u/ricobeanz 4h ago
Keep deep throating that slumlord boot
-22
u/BayYawnSay 4h ago
I own my home tho. But over the many years that I did rent, I needed grace a few times and it was nice when it was given.
5
u/i8yourmom4lunch 4h ago
I've never had to pay my rent late but if I did I assume I would communicate that as quickly as I could, which OP did.
What concerns me more is, after having thousands of my dollars every month, when I need repairs done will that landlord communicate and follow through?
It doesn't seem so
36
u/Japaroads 5h ago
I arrived at 3:38, and he didn’t reply to me until 4:30. Would my chagrin only have been valid if I’d stuck it out until 4:30?
9
u/i8yourmom4lunch 4h ago
How long did this person expect you to wait??
You wait until 4:15 and he texts at 4:30.. 🤣 I would be so mad!!
8
u/GabrielGames69 1h ago
You were said you'd be 10 minutes late to the agreed upon time and they said "okay sound's good". 9 minutes after that time you are texting them "stillll waiting". Obviously them messaging at 4:30 sucks big time but man do you come off annoying aswell.

Word. OP also sucks.
Also, while both parties were late, the Landlord at least hut her with a "so sorry for the late response."
OP didn't apologize. Just "I'm gunna be late". I hate that shit. It's so entitled.

Not to mention he didn't even wait for an hour and a half. 52 mins rounded up to 1 hour and a half for some reason.
1
u/AHailofDrams 1h ago
The entire trip is wasted time since the property manager was over an hour late themselves

u/JK_NC 15m ago
lol. Found the landlord.
What a dishonest comment. op was there at 3:38, why benchmark it at the 3:44 text? lol.
16 mins with NO RESPONSE.
And even with the benefit of hindsight that shows landlord didn’t even respond until 4:30..like, you KNOW what happened. It’s right there and you’re still sumping for the landlord?
Wild.

u/rosary-and-rain 4h ago
"...so I can call to grant you access to view the building" -- do landlords not meet you at the door when you go to see a rental? That's how its always been for me. I'd definitely have questioned it.
Either way, it sounds sketchy. Your punctuality should be better, but you gave advance notice and they said it was all good, so to go AWOL until 50 mins past the time you said you'd arrive & ask you to be there is a massive red flag.

Imagine getting mad at someone for being late while you're being late.
12
u/Japaroads 4h ago
I’m just astonished at the people thinking the way I did 8 minutes late with advanced notice and ample communication is even remotely comparable to 50 minutes late with no communication.

Reminds me of trying to pick up oxy in the old days.
Except for the part where you ran out of patience and left.
-1
u/WastedJake 2h ago
You sent 7 text messages and called 7 times in 10 minutes and then left?
You’re the problem tbh
7
u/AHailofDrams 1h ago
Do you just get to ignore client calls at your job or what?
Wtf is this dumbass take lmao
-2
u/ESchibley1 2h ago
So you were 10 minutes late but left after 10?
3
u/Japaroads 2h ago
I was 8 minutes late with 20 minutes’ advanced notice and waited for 16 minutes in total radio silence. It would’ve been different if the property guy had replied to my texts. But he was actually 50 minutes late, so what does it matter when I made the judgment call that continuing to wait wouldn’t be worth it?
-13
u/ESchibley1 2h ago edited 1h ago
eh i dont really give a shit. u should complain about this to ppl in ur life not ppl on the internet. Ppl on here are only interested in getting upset. And since they don’t know u it’s easier to direct the anger towards u. U will see it and the property manager won’t
7
u/HelldiverWilly 2h ago
You’re part of the problem lol.
This is a subreddit made for complaining about shit like this, and you are the one who tried to direct the anger towards OP. Get over yourself.
2
u/Japaroads 2h ago
That’s pretty insightful actually! Thanks.
-2
u/ESchibley1 2h ago
see how they downvoted me 😭😭. i mean you can’t make a better joke
2
u/HelldiverWilly 1h ago
Responding twice bc I didn’t see this. You’re writing the joke yourself.
Did you not see the irony in what you said? Dear lord. They downvoted you bc you were blatantly part of the problem you described.

You were already rude being late
14
u/Japaroads 5h ago
I gave 20 minutes’ advanced notice and was communicating clearly. He acknowledged and all was well. Completely different from being ignored for 50 minutes after the new time we’d agreed on.
-16
u/Pretty_Eater 4h ago
I mean, if I was petty, I would pretend everything is okay and then ghost you.
But you started off rude, you should plan your time accordingly, this is a business transaction, if you needed grace than that should have been discussed beforehand.
9
u/i8yourmom4lunch 4h ago
Like do you really think that if OP had shown up on time that the person would have too 🤣🤣
Cuz that's not the case 💯

u/ProbioticOnARobotic 4h ago
Are you on drugs? He's not meeting the Queen, he's meeting property management. He let them know very politely. By the way, he is the customer in this transaction so technically he has the upperhand. They're trying to rent to him.
-5
u/Pretty_Eater 3h ago
He started off disrespectful and unapologetic, idk what else to say, he was rude.
Also, I hate landlords but in the case of renting, in the current world, he does NOT have the upperhand.
1
u/i8yourmom4lunch 4h ago
It was. In a text. Lol
WTF
-2
u/Pretty_Eater 4h ago
So very impersonal and not at all apologetic? Gotcha.
6
u/i8yourmom4lunch 4h ago
Where was the apology or notice from the landlord?
Youre delusionally trolling
2
u/subsailor1968 4h ago
I’m amazed that you can’t see the difference between someone being a few minutes late WITH ADVANCE NOTICE that the other person acknowledged and was ok with, and the other person then being a no-show and providing no communication for nearly an hour.
OP wasn’t rude in any way. The landlord definitely was.

u/i8yourmom4lunch 4h ago
OP I just copped your battery life and now I have anxiety. I changed my mind, you are the villain 🤣🤣🤣 jk but fr you like living on the edge

u/Informal_Wall_8132 4h ago
You were late??? 😂😂😂😂 There is no way this is anything other than a troll.
Respect others time and they'll respect yours. There is no excuse not to be 10 minutes early to everything let alone 10 minutes late. This is 100% on you.

My coworker is looking for a place and was also flaked on. He mentioned it seems like landlords don't even want rent lately, or they're just not bothered by it being empty like they used to be
