He’s running for office, also yes.

I never would have expected that of him, given the content I recall watching.
That said, I haven't really paid much attention to him in years. Only knew him because he was friends with Demolition Ranch.
Kids are... what now?
EDIT: Nevermind. I get the joke now. Why is that on a political sign? Are they for or against him?
104
u/CyberpunkSunrise 7h ago
Against him, I think. Basically saying you shouldn’t vote for someone who said something like that, going for shock value by putting it on the sign. I don’t know the guy but I’m guessing they dug this up from an old Tweet or something.
67
u/Local_Pangolin69 6h ago
Came from a video where he was talking about Moms Demand Action I believe. The basic idea was just because you have a kid doesn’t mean your political opinion is more valuable.
36
u/underprivlidged BLACK? 7h ago
"Cum trophy" isn't exactly polite, but I know tons of people who call kids "crotch goblins" and such. So, I wouldn't exactly call this quote anything out of the norm for people my age.
That said, others here seem to suggest he has a record of saying much worse.
I am not in Texas, nor do I watch his videos much anymore, so this really is beyond me, but hopefully it isn't as bad as they say.
53
u/AdWonderful5920 7h ago
There are waaaay too many redditors ready to break out 'crotch goblins' under any video of a kid not being perfect.

Yeah it doesn’t make me gasp in horror, but it’s also not language I would want someone in elected office to use. I wouldn’t eliminate voting for someone based on the fact that they said it in the past though.
Although I’m sure the outrage bait strategy works well on the conservative fundie Christian crowd in Texas.
14
u/RobotRepair69 7h ago
The ironic thing is they are exposing a much wider audience to the language they find unacceptable.

u/SlightlyConfuscated 6h ago
Wait until you find out about the actions, not just the words, of like 3/4 of our elected officials.
I could care less about the language as long as they're not in the Epstein Book.
1
u/CyberpunkSunrise 6h ago
I don’t care on a certain level, but I don’t think it’s too much to ask for both: someone who has noble actions and also doesn’t use the vernacular of a comedian in the Rogan-sphere.
2
u/SlightlyConfuscated 6h ago
I'd be all for that, but unfortunately we don't live in an ideal world. That won't ever happen.
4
u/Automatic_Actuator_0 7h ago
Right? You should want your representatives to be the kind of people you want your kids to meet, respect, and look up to. We are so far from that these days, but Mr. Talarico fits the bill - I’d be thrilled for the family to meet him.
6
2
u/itsamurdermarge 6h ago
Yourself calling them vs another person doing it is a completely different feeling. You wouldn’t let your kids get hurt regardless of what you call them. He thinks they are nothing more than an accidental night. One has a clear loving connotation while the other is clear indifference and disdain especially towards women.
2
0
u/YourVelcroCat 6h ago
People say that stuff on reddit. Its not a widely held value by the general public to call kids cum trophoes or crotch goblins, which is probably why the sign is highlighting that.
2
u/underprivlidged BLACK? 6h ago
I've never heard either on reddit.
I've heard "crotch goblin" tons in person. Pretty sure its a very common phrase with millenials.

Herrera says edgelord and shocking shit all the time then claims he's joking. He's also a neo-confederate and only moved to Texas a few years ago... to run in the same district as the Ulvade shooting.
1
u/The_Caleb_Mac 4h ago
No, he was actually born there, near Fort Hood, he did grow up in the Carolinas however, as his family has a long history with the Army, and he moved back to Texas about 5 or 6ish years ago to be close to friends and family, and because the busines climate in Texas was/is more favorable, he only ran for congress because the now former congressman is such a massive lying sack of shit RINO who cheats on his wife and butt fucks staffers to the point of ruining their lives.
Unlike Brandon, who runs his mouth for laughs, and donates a lot of time and money to the community, veterans and firearm safety and education.
2
u/RoadkillVenison 2h ago
Minor point, he was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Not the most relevant of comments I know, but 5 seconds with google man.
1
u/joshuatx 3h ago
He's not quite from there. My dad was in the military and I was born in the UK, I would never say I was from there. Fort Hood a 4 hour, 230+ mile drive from Uvalde. His move to Texas totally makes sense, as you said, as a gun influencer, but he did not run for office until he saw how much $$$ was to be made at speaking, events for conservative groups.
I agree 100% that Tony Gonzales is an absolute POS, Herrera is inherently a better option than him on the face, but Herrera targeted him in the 2024 primaries before that was revealed because he was a vunerable incumbent. District 23 is a heavily gerrymandered district that offers him a better chance of getting in office than any other districts in Texas and especially in North Carolina. If you like his gun content, cool (I prefer TFB and Nova Group), but let's be honest: he's another influencer jumping on the MAGA train while the funding is still pouring in.
4
u/EragonBromson925 4h ago
Against him. It's his opponent taking a very obviously unserious thing he said, from something completely unrelated, and using it as "here's why you should hate him."
She has no way to say anything good for herself, so her entire campaign is revolving on finding anything, no matter how irrelevant, to turn into rage bait for the circus monkeys that she's trusting to take everything she says as gospel truth.

When I was a child, that kind of language was NEVER put where children could see it. M aybe in private by adults with that sort of humor but you would never, ever see it posted out in public. Any child sitting in the back seat of their parent's car can read that and wonder, or worse, know what it means. And they can think about it, and wonder if the adults in their lives think of them like that, and wrestle with it in the back of their minds until it comes out of their mouths towards a younger sibling they're annoyed with, or worse, towards their own children as adults. The things we're exposed to as kids can stick deep within us forever. I'm so sorry for the kids who are living in this world today that doesn't care about them.

Purposefully taking jokes out of context for shock value makes me want to vote for this guy knowing nothing about him. If his opponent has gotten to that level vs going after what he actually represents or has voted for in the past, that says all it needs to say to me.

u/cheezie_toastie 7h ago

Funnily enough you just described 99% of the young socialist and way left party voters in America 😂
But no, that’s not really what I meant. It would flavor my base interpretation of one of these candidates but I would still look into what both represent and how they have voted on issues that concern me in the past.

u/humungus_jerry 4h ago
From the party that loves to say “Hasan said we deserve 9/11”. You can come up with all sorts of reasons to clip that guy, but when it comes to actually voting for a political candidate suddenly the policies are sooo much more important. And you admit you don’t know any of the policies he stands for! Then you backpedal when someone calls you out and try to paint the other side with the same brush! Nice try bro, you ain’t slick

You chuds are so sad and weird.
> Herrera has posted several YouTube videos that have featured Nazi imagery and included jokes about Nazis and the Holocaust.[30] He has boasted about his 1939 edition of Mein Kampf
> Herrera is a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, a neo-Confederate organization that promotes the white supremacist[34] Lost Cause.[35] He appeared in welcome videos produced by the organization, where he referred to the American Civil War as the "War of Northern Aggression" and the "War for Southern Independence", and advertised the group's "annual Yankee shoot", where members used antique rifles to shoot at "posters of [their] favorite Yankees".
6
u/Worried_Ad_2696 2h ago
Do you know why he boasted about it?
Cause it’s an original translation not sanctioned by the Nazi party that heavily criticizes Hitler on a personal, moral, and philosophical level.
It’s a fascinating read as the author adds notes about hitlers poor grammar, writing, and spelling.
It’s a really cool book that gives a lot of historical context to the original work that is otherwise not widely published
The author includes a lot of legendary roasts of Hitler.
He also owns the communist manifesto and das kapital.
Who cares?
2
5
u/Maxxonry_Prime 3h ago
He also frequently points out that the first battle the mean Austrian man lost was with the German language. He owns Mein Kampf in a "know your enemy" kind of way.
4
u/TwinSpinner 3h ago edited 2h ago
He's a firearm enthusiast, and in case you haven't heard, some firearms were built around WW2 by Nazi Germany, and dressing up in skits to portray an accurate setting does not make you a Nazi. In fact, in literally every fucking video where he discusses anything related to Nazis, he's talking shit about them, talking shit about Hitler, and talking shit about fascism. He owns Mein Kampf (and Communist Manifesto) for the sole purpose of understanding why certain evil people are the way they are and think/do what they do. In fact, the specific version of Mein Kampf he owns is filled with what's essentially the 1939 version of Twitter community notes, which ALSO shit on Hitler throughout the book. If you actually ever watched more than 5 seconds of any of his videos, you'd know IMMEDIATELY he is a far from a Nazi as humanly possible.

I love how Katie supporters will take jokes out of context and ignore how him and the Unsub crew raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for autism research, and help send special needs kids to summer camp. I’ve also never heard or seen anything about his opponent being on scene after the Texas floods providing equipment, manpower, and supplies for the search&recovery efforts like he did in Kerr county. Also, the guy is friends with a lot of veterans and they also raise a ton of money to help veterans with whatever they’re facing. Not only raise money, but he just did a USO tour in the Middle East. I don’t agree with his stance on everything, however his actions speak far louder than his opponent that just uses jokes taken out of context.

I really, REALLY, do not understand the hate for Brandon…except he has an R next to his name. His policy stances actually make sense. And he believes in a lot of what the Democrats believe in too. His opponent? Katy Padilla Stout? An absolute moron. Literally called Nuclear Power Plants “dangerous”. When they’re one of THE safest forms of energy (0.03 deaths per KWh of energy produced - with Solar being 0.02)
1
u/Stephie999666 1h ago
I mean the issue is with nuclear is not that its dangerous, but its expensive and takes about a decade to build a single operational plant. You then have to trust that there is enough taxes for the government to run it properly, or that the private company is competent enough not to neglect maintainance. Other than that its pretty good if you already have the infrastructure.

u/BrightConflict7385 1h ago
Apparently you haven't kept up on modern nuclear technology. Check out energy.utah.gov to read about the latest, greatest in technology. Safe, inexpensive, small and fast to build.

To be fair, the sign is not wrong.
Brandon Herrera is a youtube gun troll who decided he wanted to become a US Congressman after Uvalde because the current rep had the audacity to propose some mild gun control measures.
Note, he lives in the district Uvalde is in. This dude saw his neighbors kids get murdered by a gunman and thought "what we need to do is protect the guns".

Soooo.... He saw politicians passing laws that he did not like and he decided he could better represent the laws he thought would be better by getting involved directly?
