Infuriatig This is the stupidest toilet paper design ever
Whoever decided that this was a good way to dispense toilet paper deserves to stand on lego barefoot every time they get up.

We had these at school. and some fucker would ALWAYS push the paper back in with a pen and you cant get it back out until it's fed back through the hole. And they were locked too so..... yeaah that sucked if you needed a #2

There's one like this in my work. I just push the wee button on the bottom and open it to have free access to the roll, and can use as much as I want. I loathe these dispensers.

u/Far-Temporary-1487 16h ago
At some point the people waiting in line for you to finish wiping one sheet at a time, will sh*t in the hallway and the organisation who thought these dispensers were a good idea may rethink their bright idea of creating longer bathroom queues to save a couple of bucks.
9
u/Xtreemjedi 17h ago
I already know where to use it, the dispenser doesn't need to look like C-3PO's cornhole.
9
u/ElectroXa 12h ago
I hate this, especially when the paper breaks right inside the hole, so you can't get any more paper.....

As an ex cleaning guy i hated loading them, they lasted less than a week before a Gurkha put his fist through it, management were pretty scared of retaliation too, that guy was a mountain of a man
2
u/djpendayho 8h ago
Gurkha sounds like a man of the people
1
u/Jacktheforkie 8h ago
They are, don’t piss one off though, I’ve seen em chuck full grown men several feet, and I’ve been picked up by one guy with one hand, we had lots of fun
6
u/Relikar 17h ago
It's not as bad as the tissue dispensers that have started showing up in Canada. Rather than a roll, you get a little 3x6 tissue.

u/refusedisposable 16h ago
You’re not supposed to pull the TP out dummy. You spread your ass cheeks and rub your hole against the exposed paper. Then the next person in the stall disposed of the soiled paper and repeats the process. It tickles a little, but it’s a great for your hamstrings.

I always thought the worst toilet paper design ever was those 3 shells from Demolition Man .... 🤔
5
u/3L3M3NTAL_Forces 14h ago
You are SO wrong! You just need to use them correctly, which should be immediately obvious and intuitive to anyone...
1
u/qc_overthinker 14h ago
I know, I know.... I can already picture everyone making fun of me for not knowing how to use them....

u/LakeLifeTL 9h ago
If people didn't piss all over the roll, they wouldn't have to do stupid shit like this. It's like complaining about expensive items behind lock and key at a drug store in an urban area.
6
u/djpendayho 9h ago
This was a fancy farm shop though, not the sort of place you'd piss all over the place
3
u/basecardripper 6h ago
I didn't know rogue pissers were selective based on a class system. Are there places that fall between fancy and derelict where some splash outside of the bowl, but not full bladder, is acceptable?

u/Lexy-RED 1h ago
This is an early SUBSCRIPTION type service. If you buy their special dispenser you have to buy their roll design too. This will likely be only offered from one supplier, so they can charge higher. Maybe not a premium price, but they also don’t need to compete with typical roll manufacturers.
1
u/TheZEALisREAL 1h ago
Lol just because the place looks nice doesn't mean nice people go there. Some people exist to do what they can to make sure people can't have nice things.

We just got similar ones installed at work, they are shit, most of the time they get stuck and you can't get any toilet paper out of them.

All public bathrooms TP dispensers suck, because they all use TP made from recycled 80 grit Sandpaper. 😭

u/djpendayho 11h ago
These make me irrationally angry, they used to have them at my gym and pre workout always made me need a shit as soon as i arrived

I was in hospital for a month a little while back, and the toilets had these fucks in them. Three fucking times when my mum came to visit, she somehow managed to tear the paper exactly at the entrance so there was nothing to grab onto, and of course I was in hospital so it was a huge ordeal to even get to the bathroom, only to then have to call a nurse to come fix it.
4
u/djpendayho 9h ago
I remember just after an operation i had to go for a wee to prove i could so i could be discharged, i was in massive pain and couldn't get comfortable to do it and just when i managed to sit down to try again the nurse knocked on the door which made the whole thing stop again 😂

Whoever decided that this was a good way to dispense toilet paper stands barefoot on Lego pieces every day and so said "Fuck it, I hate everybody!" and designed it.
3
u/Apprehensive-Unit268 17h ago
I believe that is for those who steal the toilet papers from public restrooms.
17
u/djpendayho 17h ago
I just spent basically 18 quid on breakfast here they can afford toilet paper
1
u/Apprehensive-Unit268 16h ago
If a restaurant has 100 customers and lets say they each pay 20$. A single toilet paper roll is around 0.70$. Lets say that the company has a profit margin of %30. That makes a 6 dolar income for each customer, which leads us to a 600$ per day and 18000 per month. If every single customer stole 1 toilet paper roll that makes a 70$ per day 2100$ per month. That is a %12 margin loss.
4
u/Master_Breadfruit_46 16h ago
In reality not everyone steals toilet paper, its probably close to 2-5% of customers depending on location
5
u/djpendayho 16h ago
Yeah the type of people who could afford to shop at this farm shop regularly probably wipe with 8 ply, no one is stealing that toilet paper here
1
u/ROBINHOODINDY 12h ago
I don’t know about others but it’s been years since I’ve used one, and yes it was the horrendous experience that you spoke of. I told my wise older sister about it and she said that’s why I always carry a roll with me in the trunk, if I have to go I grab it and hustle back in the store.
6
u/Extraordi-Mary 17h ago
I think it’s mostly so people don’t use too much paper. Because every time you pull, only a small piece comes out. Although when you do a very slow pull.. you’ll get a longer one.
2
u/Hot-Coconut-4580 12h ago
You mean the see thru toilet paper that’s so thin you need 20 sheets to wipe.
1
u/Extraordi-Mary 12h ago
Hmm maybe. But every roll I’ve seen in my country with the pull out system like this one, didn’t have flimsy paper.
1
u/Wolfy_boii 16h ago
But then can’t you just pull it again after it breaks?
7
u/Extraordi-Mary 16h ago
Yeah you can! But multiple short pieces are annoying. Or well.. I find it annoying.
1
u/familysizepunkinpie 15h ago
No because I can't get my dainty little fingers far enough into the hole to get it
2
u/VostroyanCommander 17h ago
Never thought of it this way but that's actually a very good point.

Probably to stop people from inserting dirty needles. It's a nice concept but not practical in real life.
2
4
u/PyroDragn 17h ago
Okay, but why?
It's designed this way so that you can use a centre pull (no cardboard tube) roll of toilet paper - which means no need to have bins to dispose of the tube, and less wastage for needing tubes in the first place.
This may be a terrible version where it's too tight and doesn't dispense smoothly so you find it annoying to use. But there's nothing wrong with the concept.
8
u/Interesting_Feed_785 16h ago
Never ever once I have come across one of these that worked smoothly. Never. There’s a knack that kind of works sometimes but omfg I hate these so much.
3
u/huangcjz 16h ago
There are domestic rolls which don’t have centre tubes already, which are almost no different to standard rolls.

if you pull a little more out you can lift your butt and wipe from the dispenser. just make sure to pull enough out so you don't touch the dirty bits

That have a similar design in Europe but the paper doesn’t break. It was actually really functional and the sheets weren’t small and 1 ply.

These are the reason I learned pick locking. If someplace has these and I have the time I am opening all of these so maybe companies will learn we hate those.
Also my school has the plastic ones and you can open them with inserting a small key or the corner of your bank card and pushing it.

u/katogrow 9h ago
They decided it would make it hard to waste/steal the tp.. unfortunately its also hard to use lol

u/StomachCompetitive56 9h ago
With businesses being soo stingy on toilet paper, you need to start carrying your own.

The Lego curse only works if it's a floor full of Legos. BTW, it's a good punishment for kids who don't clean their rooms. They'll learn fast, I did when I discovered this, when I was a kid.
1
1
u/count_strahd_z 8h ago
That is a terrible design. The other main issue is location. Why do so many places mount the dispenser so it's up against your leg/knees or too low to easily reach?
1
u/TelevisionContent188 6h ago
My favorite is when it's so thin it rips every time you try to pull a piece because it's not strong enough to move the roll.
1
u/dudeitsmeee 5h ago
The act of providing extremely little paper in which to handle yourself in a public bathroom. As if you don’t want us there.

Start pulling it out the moment you sit down… and pray it’s one of those “you need two wipes to know you only needed one” shits.

u/Jadedangel13 4h ago
I hope someday that humans get their shit together enough to evolve and look back at choices like this for it's absurdity. So much intelligence and potiential wasted to enable few in our society to gain such extravagant wealth and power that decisions like this were not only possible, but profitable. I hate it here.

It's quite smart, actually. It has happened to me more than once to find the big roll of toilet paper all soaked and/or unrolled it back.
1
u/beren12 16h ago
So what you’re saying is push the paper back in and it’s now the new urinal
1
u/TooLazyToBeAnArcher 16h ago
I should have specified that my comment was referring to classic toiler paper holders, the ones with the big roll in the center

Ah you see by limiting the amount of wafer thin sheets you can obtain you won't use as much. -Some guy that really didn't think it through.
I often wonder if people use more of this stuff because of how poor it is than they would if money was spent on more decent TP
