I’ve been thinking about getting a yuru-log next and I love both writing and putting junk on it like wrappers and whatnot. I’m just wondering if that would be a waste of good, printed paper. Seems silly, but these aren’t cheap notebooks either so I want to make my money count 😂

Also, if anyone has this, does it lay flat? Will fountain pen inks work well on it? I don’t have oily hands if that’s an issue.

QUESTION: How do you all use these (especially any artsy yous)?

Context: I just recently got my first Midori notebooks (an A7 graph-ruled notebook and an A6 plain notebook) and they each came with these little doodads. I knew they would — I just didn't anticipate how to use them. I have aphantasia (can't visualize things in my head) so I'm very much a hands-on learner... But also (unfortunately) a raging perfectionist so I'm hoping to find some (preferably visual!) examples of what others do with these little dudes.

If it helps, here's how I've been using them:

- A7: "studying"/making observations about my current fountain pens and inks, setting what I want more or less of, how I want to use each ink/pen, etc.

- A6: Opening as a swatchbook of current inks (fp-friendly and otherwise) and then will become an "ink-first" sketchbook where I try not to sketch in pencil first and just...jump straight in with ink. 😂

This may be a stupid question, I'm just getting into these notebooks so please be kind!

I asked for one of them as a gift I wasn't aware that only one side had a cover. How would I slip a jacket on it when most jackets that atr cloth or thin leather require it to hug both sides to secure? Because of the binding, the first page I wrote in fell out so now I am being extra careful, and I have to unstick the pages one by one, and the hard one seems to be ... really stuck in there, I am afraid that if I try to rip it, the cover will fall out.

Have I done something wrong...?

Don't get me wrong, I do love the notebooks and have managed to buy 3 in a month lmao but think compared to other ones, specifically the Hobonichi, I think the Midori clear covers aren't that good.. Especially the pen loops that do not fit larger than standard pens and even then are the flimsiest that every pen I put just doesn't slot in nicely bc of how thin it is 😭 Do you have other clear cover recs or will I be stuck with this 🥲

Hello, I'm wondering if buying through Amazon, do you encounter fake midoris. Right now there's a midori codex for 20 usd, and looking at the sellers ratings (the sellers name is BJDesign) , there's one complain saying that they sell fake midoris because the paper usually doesn't bleed through that much.

I haven't bought a single midori product yet, so I don't know what precautions I should take. I don't live in the US, so Amazon is the only way I could buy it..

made myself all of Traveler's Notebook sizes (Regular Size, Passport Size and Card Size, also the Mini one)

I bought half kg scrap leather roughly for $2, quite thin but big enough to make all size of Traveler's Notebook, with 1.5mm elastic band. I also made myself Connecting Band with this elastic band, connected with metal cable connector (so it doesn't make bulky knot). The insert notebook was made with standard 80gsm white paper and linen paper as cover

I love how it turned out with black leather and white elastic band

for next project, I'm thinking about DIY Leather/Canvas Zipper Insert

got back to my TN after ages, and realised it is the most all encompassing mechanism that has worked for me. took it with my for my bday on a holiday and enjoying its company.

A wonderful day on a day hire electric boat. So peaceful and quite enough to hear the birds 🐦 singing. Spotted a beautiful kingfisher. Had a lovely pub lunch in a historic building which has stood since 1777. Always accompanied by my trusty notebook on such travels.

For anyone looking for a leather cover for the Midori Hibino, the Moterm A6 Plus does fit!

Just a heads-up though: the Hibino sticks out by about 1–2 mm. It’s totally usable right now, but since the Hibino tends to bulk up as you fill it throughout the year, I think it may stick out quite a bit more over time.

I’m hoping the leather will stretch and loosen up a little with use.

For reference, I also have a Moterm pebbled leather A6 Plus in Red that I bought in 2023, and that one fits the Hibino with noticeably more room.

I got a reply from the seller that Moterm’s leather pieces are now machine-cut, so the sizing is more consistent. Older covers were cut by hand, so there seems to be a bit more variation between individual covers, and my old one happens to be slightly roomier.

Just wanted to share in case anyone else is considering a Moterm A6 Plus for their Hibino!

I just got my first Midori notebooks (LOVING them) but am confused what these two more prominent dots are in the dot grid journals.. Weird question ik lol

I think the only thing I may not like about this is the monthly calendar section and the big spaces on both sides which makes the boxes like the A6.

If you don't like the A6 size you might not exactly like this one. You can see the size vs my A5 and A6 versions. I do think I like the writing section mostly though. I can add some more details to my to-do section since it's longer across the page. I think my only tiny issue (which is probably the big issue for people who don't like the A6) is the rest of the writing section. I have small hands so I might be fine but since it's square, if you need to rest your hand... you definitely need something at the bottom.

But yeah was definitely hoping for bigger calendar boxes for all my written in things and deco.

Oh I forgot to say the Notebook Haramaki does fit on this too!

I’ve been using the MD Note Journal Block Grid Layout A5 (MDノート ジャーナル ブロック方眼罫 A5) as my weekly planner for years, and unfortunately, it has been discontinued.
I’ve already contacted Midori’s customer service, and I live in Japan, but I haven’t been able to find it in any stationery shops anymore. 😭
What I especially love about it is the 8-block layout across the two-page spread. I use the 8 sections for my weekly planning, and I’m really looking for something with a very similar layout.
If you know of any notebook/planner with an 8-block layout, from Japan or anywhere else in the world, I’d be incredibly grateful for recommendations!
And if you happen to have one of these MD notebooks and don’t need it anymore, please let me know! I would absolutely love to buy it from you. 🥺💕
