Question ESP Eclipse (Pre-Lawsuit) Cherry Sunburst Worth

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey fellow Metal Guitarists,

Back in my study time in 2015, I bought an ESP Eclipse Guitar for a metalcore project. Back in the Day, I spent 1.800 EUR for it (which was almost mt entire savings account at the time). It is a pre-lawsuit variant with 4 knobs.

I see that the price of ESP Guitars has gone up significantly (like everything else). Since I'm considering getting an 8 string instead for the larger scale it provides, I'm interested in the actual worth of this guitar.

Any experts in here that could tell me what I could realistically charge for it?

It has been played on stage, in the studio and at home for about a decade (I have no idea how old it actually is).

It has some small bumps in the coating on the back, and the ESP logo on the headstock is a bit washy.

Any feedback is appreciated, cheers!

Thinking about ordering an EVH 5150. Question about the D-Tuna and the Floyd

Hey all,

I'm getting ready to order an EVH 5150 guitar and had a question about the factory D-Tuna setup.

I've read quite a few comments saying that D-Tunas can be problematic on Floyd Rose guitars because when you switch to Drop D, the rest of the strings can go out of tune. That makes perfect sense to me on a floating Floyd.

However, as far as I understand, the EVH 5150 comes with the Floyd "slammed" against the body and set up as a dive-only bridge rather than a fully floating one. If that's the case, does the usual D-Tuna tuning issue still apply here, or is the system pretty reliable on this particular model?

Also, does this guitar come with a genuine Floyd Rose 1000 Series? One of the first things I usually do is replace the screw-in trem arm with a pop-in arm, so I'm curious what hardware I'm working with.

I'm considering asking the shop to remove the D-Tuna before shipping, but I'm not sure if that's actually necessary.

For those who own this specific EVH 5150 model:

Is it worth keeping the D-Tuna, or does it end up being more trouble than it's worth? I don't have a lot of time to play these days, usually just a few minutes a day, so I'm looking for something that's reliable and doesn't require constant tweaking or troubleshooting.

Thanks!

Video [Video] Bridge pickup height tip — sharper bite, balanced string response (Jackson Warrior / SH-5)

Small setup thing I wish I'd known earlier: on my 2019 Jackson Warrior (SH-5 in the bridge) I set the high E side of the pickup a little higher than the low E side. Sharper, more aggressive bite, more even string response, and it helped the lead sit on top of a dense mix. 30 seconds with a screwdriver. https://youtube.com/shorts/oWFWvSIM7a8
