Story Callout: Manosphere on campus?

Hi everyone! My name is Joonha Jung, and I am a reporter from University Affairs, a source of information about and for Canada’s university community.

I would like to interview students who might have experienced or witnessed misogynistic ideology being spread on campus due to online activities on group chats, podcasts, YouTube or social media.

If there are any members of this subreddit who want to share their stories, leave a comment or send me an email at [joonhajungmedia@gmail.com](mailto:joonhajungmedia@gmail.com)

indg200 class attendance

i haven't been able to go to a lot of indg200 classes this semester due to time conflicts and personal reasons. however when i did go to class the prof didn't take attendance, but on mycourses it mentions a few times how missing class will harm your grade. i was wondering if anyone knew how she's been taking attendance so far and for how many classes/lectures? thanks

Does anyone else think COMP202 this term is insane?

Guys how do you think about Comp202 this term? Because I honestly think it is insane.

The Midterm 1 class average is 59%, with the lowest score being 15%. On top of that, we were required to handwrite docstrings during an exam?
The exam content itself is insane too. For an introductory course that was teaching ’Hello World’ just a month ago, the short answer questions felt impossible unless you already had tons of prior coding experience.

I took COMP 202 in Winter 2026 (The instructor I think is Giulia). The assignments back then were nowhere near this absurd—we even had bonus points available, no docstrings required and I am 100% sure the midterm was way easier than this term’s

The grading on assignments this term is just WTF:
On A1 I lost 10 full points just for using ‘is not’ instead of !=
On A2 I lost another 10 points because my docstring "formatting" wasn't deemed specific enough.

Does anyone else feel the same way?
WTF is going on this term?

McGill grading system, any tips?

I am a u0 general arts student, and the grades I have been receiving on written assignments are not bad but definitely not great (usually around 80%). In high school I my average was a 95 and I was often told I was very good at writing and good in my humanities classes. I feel like all the feedback I get is usually positive yet somehow the overall grade I get ends up being lower than I’d expect given the feedback, for example having one critique or one note of constructive feedback, I just genuinely am at a loss of what professors in history and English and film analysis type courses expect. Maybe I’m just not used to university grading and maybe I’m way out of my league (I went to a public arts highschool), but I’m hoping to go to grad school and this is super discouraging, does it get better? What types of things can I check for or try to do :/

What happens if you write a midterm exam but in the wrong room? Even if it’s the same course and same timing

disclaimer, i'm not canadian but i met someone in mtl who told me they went to mcgill to study film and when i said mcgill is a very competitive school they said film is not a competitve program and most can get in. is that how it works? bc i looked it up and it says no such thing exists, i'm confused.

OT Shadowing

Hi! I was wondering if anybody has any advice on how I could get occupational therapy shadowing hours in the Montreal area? I have some private hours, however I need more and I’m also trying to get hours at a public clinic.

Thank you so much!

Are the profs in Arts going on strike?

I'm not from Quebec and idk how union stuff works here. Where I grew up, profs going on strike would be a huge deal. If Arts profs strike what actually happens to midterms, essays, and finals?? Do TA's run conferences or are they cancelled too? Do deadlines just move or could we lose the term/have to write finals in January?
