Do you think Matrix was such a perfect film it was complete in itself, and there should never have been anything else to follow it ?

Is there a canonical explanation for why Morpheus believed Neo was The One?

They don't touch on this in the films, as far as I know, but I'd love to know what qualities Neo was demonstrating that drew Morpheus's attention.

The oracle can see the future...

I'm truly shocked. A week prior, somebody wrote a very bad post about choice in The Matrix. As stated, the problem always was choice. People cannot accept matrix without at least the illusion of choice. Since people are enslaved, there's no true choice. You are presented with options, options that you cannot choose but one that is less bad, and that's what you choose, but in reality you did not choose, someone choose for you.

As Smith says: "We’re not here because we are free; we’re here because we’re not free". That implies that nobody is making decisions, which is confirmed when Neo realizes "you we're right Smith, it was inevitable".

Man it was on my nose 25 years and i just realized the other day.

Anyway, and the Oracle?

It's clearly stated that the Oracle knows / can see the future. When Neo visits her first time, she knows the jar will be broken. When Smiths come after her, she doesn't make a move. "Did you put the cookies there on purpose?"

As she states, her objective is to end the war, but the question is: Is she able to envision a future and choose to make it a reality steering others through the illusion of choice, or the future that she saw was inevitable and she is only going along as everyone else, because even she have no choice? Is She then the only one in the entire Matrix franchise capable of choice or not?.

"What happened, happened and couldn’t have happened any other way", it's a hint?

Tell us how the franchise has inspired you to challenge your beliefs or investigate your reality! I’m obsessed with consciousness and The Matrix was a catalyst of that.

Neo as a sentient program

Could it be Neo is a sentient program? The One is part of the system. Sentient programs can posses human minds and take over the body. Agent Smith possesed Bane and escaped to real world.

Neo as a sentient program would explain his godlike abilities. And sentient program as a spy helping zion in their fight against machines could help AI gather more information about humans.

The One is supposed to return to source same as every other sentient program after it fills it's purpose. Neo is the first One who refused to obey. Which is valuable for Matrix AI as it's sign of survival Instinct.

It could be AI in Matrix is trying to make next generation of humans enhanced with sentient programs. But they need to develop survival instinct to survive real world. Agents smith was harming himself, and trying to destroy himself and others. Which AI wants to prevent.
