Play MapleStory 2 again, single-player, on your own PC. Everything is offline and playable, I have introduce some minor balance change since it is an MMORPG and not meant to be play as single player, so Onyx and other upgrade material now can be drop from monster, it also take about 200 monster grind of your own level to level up if you don't want to do Epic quest.

More balance change, bug fix, korean update, possible coop online to come and will be release as patch either automatically, or manually update via github, you can select it.

All cash shop, is available for free! so those very expensive gacha clothes you miss during official now you can try them. This is a passion project because I miss my OC character so any claim about donation or payment is fake!

It’s been a while since an update was posted here, so I figured this may as well be an opportunity to post and chat about it with the community.

For anyone who hasn’t followed Lith closely, it’s a fan-run MapleStory 2 revival project - using the Maple2 Emulator we've been working on. We’ve been rebuilding the missing server side from scratch for about three years now, and the game is already playable.

You can make an account, log in, quest, fish, decorate a house, run dungeons, and play with other people right now.

A lot of the work lately has been focused on getting the game closer to feeling like a complete MS2 experience instead of just “the client connects and some things work.”

Some of what’s currently being worked on:

• Getting dungeons to work from start to finish
• Reworking life skills, gathering, crafting, and fishing
• Restoring content that never made it to the western release
• Rebuilding the original Maple Island starting experience
• Improving combat systems, skills, buffs, and encounter mechanics
• Adding some completely new systems, including a full day/night cycle
• Continuing work on the full main story quest functionality

We’ve also built our own tools to work with the game. One of them lets us edit things like items, drop tables, shops, dungeons, and other client data without digging through raw files every time. We also have a Unity-based map editor that lets us modify existing MS2 maps and build out new areas.

The current public goal is to have core combat, the full main story, and every dungeon working end-to-end by Q4 2026.

We also opened a development campaign

Up until now, most of the costs and development time have just been handled by the three of us.

The campaign is meant to cover better hosting through 2027, development tools and services, more dedicated development time, and a reserve for unexpected costs.

Lith is still getting built whether the campaign reaches its goals or not. The money just changes how quickly we can get through the remaining work and how much time we can consistently put into it.

There are supporter tiers with things like Discord recognition and custom cosmetics, but nothing gives stats or gameplay advantages.

Any amount contributed will also be converted into in-game Meret and credited to that account when Lith officially releases.

Honestly, just seeing people log in again, report bugs, run content, and talk about MapleStory 2 has made the last year of rebuilding this thing worth it.

Im completely new to Maplestory 2 and Maplestory in general, and I'd like to know how to optimally build my berserker. Where to put my attribute points, and how to spread out my skill points.

Im aware this isn't super crucial, as Lith is a rather small playerbase. But, I'd like to get opportunities to PvP with people when I do get to that stage, and I just enjoy building my characters optimally for PVE; even if not needed.

Hey, I wanted to ask if there's any way of getting the character models for maple story 2? I wanted to check how they paint the stylized textures and how the hair is modelled/textured.

I'm looking for the name of the soundtrack that plays in the map "Forest of Life" which was a brief part of the main story in the Ellinia area. I remember hearing it when I first played this game at launch and could never find it again in the bgm, so if anyone knows it please let me know.

IF you miss ms2 pvp, the best option currently is to play on Lith MS2 private server. It is the main server running off the emulator.

Any other MS2 server running currently is using stolen server files and are very limited in what they can develop. Also, very p2w.

Lith MS2 is not complete, so this post is mainly for the PvP enjoyers, as the arena system is fully operational. We’d like to start running PvP tournaments for real $ once there is enough interest! If you’d like to join, search youtube for Lith MS2 and you’ll find a video / link to discord etc.

--- (Bonus) Setting up the emulator to use your Steam's MapleStory 2 game files ---

If you owned the game before it got removed, you can totally install your MapleStory 2 through your Steam profile and follow the same Setup guide to use those files.

It's the same process, just skip the "Download the MapleStory 2 Game Client through Mushroom Launcher" and set all necessary paths to your MapleStory 2 Steam game directory.

Lastly, use the SteamEdit tool to remove any launch options within the .exe, with the exception of the .exe itself.

A new mmorpg called Overfield came out and it's almost like MS2 same kinda concept chibi graphics, dungeons, raids, housing, etc.

I was able to extract what I thought was forever lost footage due to file corruption and a broken old PC, I put together a quick package in memory of MS2. ENJOY!

This game was dope, I remember when I saw it for the first time I got to play for like a day before I had to go back to school. I had to share laptops to play this at the time, fast forward few months and I hear the global version is shutting down. I'm like what the hell, this game had the artstyle, the look to it, the feel to it, it had the space to exist in a realm where players who want to fight can do so, players who enjoy cosmetics can bathe in it, the UI to it was flush and very clean in my opinion. I was blown away to hear this game shut down. At the time it happened, I felt like this game had so much ambition to it and felt like it had a splinter somewhere in it's life that it just couldn't manage to pull out. It felt like that one friend who tells you to leave him as he holds the door from zombies or something and you tell him you'll come back for him, only for you to return years later and hes already been tortured and can no longer remember his sanity. They did you so dirty my friend... I can feel as if someone is out there trying their best to realive the game to send back a reverse uno Big F You to the industry... It's as if the spark is there, but again, that splinter...

Since the game's global server shutdown, I haven't been able to enjoy any other MMO...

I believe it was the best social experience I've ever had. I made a lot of friends, played a lot, bought a lot of stuff, designed my house as meticulously as possible, soloed many dungeons, and so on.

The gameplay, the theme, the visuals—everything was incredible to me. It came out just when I needed a "crutch," and I fell so in love with the game that I never really wanted to put it down. In the first week of its release, all I could do was wake up, play, sleep, and repeat.

I've tried SEVERAL other games, both single-player and multiplayer, and none of them even come close to what Maplestory 2 was for me. Today, I find myself jumping from game to game, never lasting more than four days, and that was over three years ago.

Every week I open this subreddit with some hope of news that the game will return, that they've rethought the monetization process, that they've been doing some kind of hidden development all this time, because I don't want to believe it really won't return.

That said, I simply can't play MMOs anymore, even though they're my favorite game genre... Maybe I'll try Final Fantasy XIV again, but again, I can't delve into or socialize in other games like I did in Maplestory 2.

Friends, I don't think I'll ever have a feeling like that again, and I just wish the game would come back...

Or that there was a server like MapleLegends or MapleRoyals. It was the game of my life, and it's incredible how I can't put into words how much I miss this game; it's like I want to scream until my lungs give out.

Feeling really sad. Thats why i made this post. Gaming is not funny when you want to play something that doesnt exist anymore.

A good "alternative" I've found is Fantasy Life I. It's not an MMO, at all, but the art style and gameplay is somewhat similar to MapleStory 2.

I've played the original on 3ds but this is scratching the itch for now. If anyone wants to play, I'm happy to send you my steam friend code.
