MC-A as a first film camera
Hello all!
I'm looking into the MC-A as my first film camera, but have been nervous about how delicate it seems to be. For context, I have shot on film 10+ years ago and know how to operate a camera. I understand the technical terms like ISO, f-stop and shutter speed. I know there is another camera which gets recommended here a bit is the pentax. I was also thinking about the Kodak Snapic A1, however I'd like more control.
For people who have a MC-A, have they fixed the hardware issues in later batches? How do you like the camera? Would you recommend it?
Thanks

Lomography Daylight Tank - How to stop it tearing film.
Hi,
As great as the Daylight Tank is for developing, it has a known issue with tearing film, so you end up cutting it early and losing 2-4 exposures off the roll and having to develop in two batches rather than one.
Has anyone got any good tips or suggestions for film stock to prevent this? I'm using HP5 at the moment as I bought a load of it in bulk because of cost but out of 7 rolls, I think I've only managed to get a couple onto the roll without tearing.
Thanks,
Paul

Same place, different settings [Lomo MCA, Colorplus 200]
galleryThe first one with auto ISO, f/2.8, and auto shutter speed. The second one with an ND8 filter, ISO 100, 2 stops, f/16, and auto shutter speed. You can tell I didn't use a tripod.

Lomo MC-A, Thoughts and Questions
Seemed a sensible place to repost this too, just to see if anyone else has found similar things or is pondering an MC-A themselves.

Oktomat Gear Diagram?
I have a Lomography Oktomat that wasn't firing across the bottom row so I took it apart to try to find and fix the issue. Unfortunately, it seems the plastic gears in the bottom of the camera were loose and just rattling around in there and I have NO clue how they go back in!
Does anyone have a diagram or photos of the gear assembly that I could reference?

Exeter Cathederal [Lubitel 166 Universal, Fomapan 100, Rodinal]
galleryThe Lubitel is an amazing value camera! I picked this up for £25 and it seems unused. The quality is not far removed from my Roleiflex even if the shooting experience isn't as refined. But its easy enough to use, light and more compact. And i'm not worried about breaking it.
I was shooting on tripod so I thought I'd try 100 speed to max out the quality on this roll, see what the camera can resolve.
2nd exposure is an accidental double but kind of interesting I guess.

Indoor low-light no-flash lomography [RETO UWAL - Kodak UltraMax 400]
galleryA visit to game and toys shop and also going back to the place for anime and car events.
What I found is such indoor low light no-flash lomography photos can get good results if the lighting condition is just exactly right. Also, this camera still have no built-in flash so it often producing very poor result in indoor photography with warm daylight light colors. Images still blurry sometimes.
Was expecting to capture the good images of cosplayer photos but unfortunately ended up pretty bad which I don't want to show it here. Good thing I have captured it first on my phone beforehand.
Correction: RETO UWS (Ultra Wide & Slim) instead of RETO UWAL, basically a cheap clone of Vivitar battery-less model.
