(Sub meta) Does anyone else get tired of the misanthropy in the comments?
Listen, I'm gonna be honest with y'all. I think humans are fucking awesome. We've achieved stewardship of a whole planet, we can build houses and invent electronics and create artificial light, we can express ourselves through poetry and paint.
We're highly intelligent, able to engage with the sheer beauty of life on a level of sapience that other animals can only dream of.
And we're cute, too. We cuddle with plushies at night. We smile at ourselves in mirrors. We bask in memories of our loved ones. Humanity is romantic, cool, and awesome.
So when I see a funny/cool video of monkeys exhibiting humanlike traits on this subreddit and scroll down to the comments to see some insufferable loser going "man if only people were this nice to each other" with ~100 upvotes, it's incredibly disappointing. Like sheesh, can't you be a misanthropic loser somewhere else?
Go be hateful to people in a sub that ISN'T about positivity.
r/likeus is a positive sub, and if I keep seeing human-hating/pessimistic/toxic comments regarding humanity, I'm not going to come here anymore, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
It is NOT "like us" at all to hate ourselves as a species just because some people are idiots. Human-negative comments are literally against the sub's theme. The whole point of the sub is to see ourselves in other aspects of nature, and to CELEBRATE IT.
