A quick overview of our rules:

  • No politics or news
  • No NSFW content or hookups
  • Be polite and respectful. This is a non negotiable.
  • Dating posts are for Lebanese people only, whether local, expat, or diaspora
  • No ads, sales, or promotions

See you there ☕🇱🇧

Discussion Reminder: At a red light, letting your car roll forward past the lines/crossings doesn't make the light turn green faster

Also, for lanes on the highways: They're not drawn to be an aesthetic and optional thing, you're meant to drive between them. Not doing so is the main cause of unnecessary traffic jams

Also, 90% of the time having your high beams on the highway doesn't make you see better, it just prevents the opposite side from seeing clearly

You complain about wanting good and safe roads, do your part and know how to use them. Have a good evening

Discussion How about we mind our business?

I have lived my entire life in Lebanon and sadly had to leave for france two months ago because my major isn’t available in the country.

One thing im noticing alot is people from back home (no i will not name a specific demographic fuck your sectarianism) commenting on and reposting alot of propagandized media about the current protests in france.

Many of which were completely silent during the bombings of our country earlier on this year:I find it shameful that some of you lack any form of respect to your own land or people and will grovel at the feet of foreigners, be it French, Iranian, American, Syrian, Saudi or Israeli.

I think most of you should be asking us lebanese abroad about the ongoing situation instead of posting very uneducated and misinformed takes on things you are completely unconcerned about while we have bigger issues in our homeland going on.

It makes me very angry because the students here have a cause and are fighting for it in such a way that we could not even reach a fraction of back in 2019 yet some of us only want to resort to hateful bigoted and frankly racist rhetoric.

Please look within before speaking on others. Maybe our country would be alot better, and i say this as someone who broke down at the realization of how limited i am bi balade ana ta ettar hejir ta kafe eelme.

Discussion Kayan clinic

There’s this “psychologist” in tripoli named Sultana. She just made an instagram account for her “clinic” @kayanclinic.lb. She hasn’t posted anything yet, but i find it pathetic that she’s now presenting herself as professional when she’s been messing people up when she was still in her 2nd year of BACHELOR. She’s so unprofessional, has no sense of boundaries, follows no approach, just does what she thinks is right (which ends up being wrong most of the times). And now she decides to get this professional persona, and god knows what she’s going to post and lie to people about.

I’ve heard horror stories from people about the things she’s done do them. I have stories too. She fucked me up and i only got worse with her.

I’m making this post to warn people about her and her clinic. She’s not the only one there. Please be careful and if you ever come across her clinic or someone recommends it, stay away.

Is Anyone else here among her victims?

I hope this post is allowed.

Sports Are there any casual hiking groups in Lebanon that just meet up and hike?

I know Lebanon By Nature exists, but their trips are a bit too expensive for me to do regularly.

I’m looking for something more casual, like a group of people who meet up on weekends, hike somewhere, explore nature, and maybe go on other outdoor adventures together without paying $30 every time.

Does anyone know of any WhatsApp groups, communities, or informal hiking groups like this?

I’d love to hear your recommendations!

Discussion Are Bolt Rides Safe?

I use tis app sometimes when I'm down in Beirut. But I got forced (threatened in the car) by a really thuggish individual to pay almost double the fare once (also forced me to put 5 starts. Man had an airtight plan). I personally wasnt gonna risk getting kidnapped over 5 usd y'know?

I will have to go to beirut and make use of Bolt and I hoped your comments would put my mind at ease.

Help / Question Alfa student's A+ plan

I have the A+ mobile data plan given to uni students

So I pay 5$ and get 5gb of 4g monthly

My problem is, previously, whenever I spent the 5gb, I was able to still have 4g, but for every 1mb I use, 0.01$ were deducted from my balance .

Now, this is no longer available, so whenever I finish the 5gb and try to use mobile data, nothing opens and nothing is deducted from my balance

So, is this a new update?

Or is there sth in my settings that is not allowing me to use 4g over my limit?

Because I didn't remember changing anything in my settings, it just stopped working

Discussion Title: What books are actually selling the most in Lebanon right now?

Hey everyone!

I'm doing some research on the book market in Lebanon, especially in Beirut, and I'm curious about what people are actually buying these days.

I'm interested in all categories: Arabic and English books, novels, religious books (Islamic or Christian), children's educational books, school-related books, self-development, horror, etc.

A few questions:

  1. What books do you see people buying the most?

  2. If you work in a bookstore or know someone who does, which titles consistently sell out?

  3. Are there any books that are constantly in demand but difficult to find?

  4. Where do Lebanese people usually buy their books, and what prices are considered reasonable?

I'm particularly interested in Beirut, especially Tariq Jdideh, but insights from anywhere in Lebanon would be appreciated.

Looking for actual buying trends rather than just personal favorites.

Thanks!

Help / Question Legal help: Where can I find the Residential Building Committee law?

TL;DR: Where can I read the full Residential Building Committee law? Can an apartment owner appoint other owners to vote on their behalf at committee meetings WITHOUT a written formal authorization/tofweed? I'd really appreciate any advice or help. Thanks!

The below is the thorough version and I'm aware it's long. If you read till the end, thank you for putting the time and effort ☀️

We have a narcissistic and obsessive compulsive neighbour who's been harassing and cussing at my parents for almost a year, threatened with legal actions, and is now trying to get her way through a "Lajnit Bineyeh" since her claims have no legal grounds.

My parents and herself are all old, except she has a strong character, title and connections while my parents are simple people who avoid confrontation. (I'm always responsible for handling everything myself, otherwise they are taken advantage of).

Our building is half empty and she claims that 2 owners of vacant apartments authorized her to represent them in votes. No authorization/tewkeel paperwork has been shown, only her word that they appointed her. Where can I find the "Lajnit Bineyeh" laws to see if she can actually represent them based solely on a verbal authorization, without paperwork?

Problem: Neighbour lives on the last floor and had called us claiming that our water tank is leaking and causing her problems. I left work to attend to this on spot because water leaks are serious, checked the roof and she even showed me her apartment and the room under our water tank. There was nothing wrong, at all.

I told her that the roof is dry and there is no signs of leakage around our water tank (it was summer) and that the paint in the room under our tank is literally PERFECT with no sign of any damages, not even regular wear and tear. She bluntly said that she wants us to move our tank to the other side of the building's roof. Our water tank capacity is a quarter 1/4 the capacity of her water tanks, and the other side of the building is legally owned by someone else, hence we can't even move it there.

Two months ago: She throws a 10 voice note tantrum in the building chat, cusses at us, throws blatant accusations of things that are 20 and 30 years old, and says she filed a lawsuit.

Last week: She called to form a building committee. We have all agreed to nominate the same committee president, and all of us agreed to abide by decisions that are set by this committee. Today, the paper has been printed for us to sign, it lists a point in the minutes of meeting that states "All residents should abide by decisions made by the committee regarding building improvements, common spaces, removing damages, and water tanks".

In the meeting, all of us had verbally agreed to that in general, but when put in writing, she added the "removing damages and water tanks" words that weren't discussed in person. I did not sign it yet, and will contest to this in our group chat, but nothing will change since the vote would pass either way. The day after the meeting, she continued harassing us in the group chat.

My Concern: She has always claimed that she represents 2 other apartments in voting due to them being away, the first owner being an individual, and the second a Company. Another 2 owners are women who are afraid of speaking up because she'd bully them too, and have historically sided with her.

I am worried that she would force us to abide by building committee decisions through a majority vote, given that there are no damages to get her way through court. Can the committee force us to move a water tank if there are no damages at all, even if an inspection stated there are no damages caused by our water tank that is a quarter the capacity of other members' tanks?

Ultimately, I am concerned that if this proves to work for her, she will become more entitled to force my parents to other things, and I am not always around to handle these matters, so I want to end this debacle once and for all. How do I go about this?

Help / Question Which Apps or Platforms do y'all use for investing / saving? (small modest sum but I do not wanna keep extra cash nor trust the banks)

Title says it all, I am wanting a place to keep my money safe, within reach if needed, but also not in banks, cash or gold.

I want platforms that do not have middle-man, no agencies that take your money and invest for you.

I am interested in mainly investing, in all its forms. I am not looking for "interest-based" savings. I am looking for more longterm and safe investment (as safe as it gets at least).

I have a US based LLC so if any platforms need EIN numbers, I am able to provide, although I prefer to be saving and investing in my name and not business name.

I have no residency or anything so the platform must accept Lebanese residents. And I prefer the platform to either be "safe" or "anti-politics" to avoid my funds being frozen as soon as any buzzing sound emerge.

Please do not say gold or cash. Thank you!

Help / Question Traveling to Lebanon

Hi, and my apologies in advance for my very basic questions. We’re travelling to Lebanon soon from France for the first time in almost ten years and for the first time with kids (5 & 8). I’m French, husband is both French and Lebanese. So much happened during those years, including evolving technology, so I’m wondering what I need to do especially:
- shall I have USD with me, or is Visa and tap-to-pay everywhere? Today I use my Visa card on my phone for almost all payments and never carry cash.
- would you recommand having a virtual SIM card for data? Any brand I should use?
- is there any present I could bring for the in-law family from France? I was thinking of a nice Fragonard perfume or soap box, since when I ask my uncle in law he only mentions how happy they are to have us with them (and so are we).
Thanks for your help!
I’m so much looking forward to have the family meet our kids, and to have the kids experience Lebanon!

Help / Question Israel is not allowing any of the villages in the yellow line to do their olive harvest, same like in the west bank

They wanted first a list of names and ID for the workers to do their olives through the "mechanisim" then after the municipality provides what they asked for, Israel will respond usually after 3 to 4 days then come up with a new excuse with new conditions then tell us to provide us with a new list of names again.

They do this for all villages in the yellow line. Same like in the west bank but worse there.

Note these villages ars either fully Chritians or fully sunnis.

MTV like always doesn't give a shit.
