I'm a Canadian solo indie developer, writer & sound engineer / lifelong musician and retro gamer. I just released a free learn to type tool as Three Up Games. I grew up with games like Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing and Typing of the Dead (and retro consoles)

Orchard Teaches Typing is a retro collection of 4 unique typing games which you can play to help improve your typing speed / accuracy & learn to type. Fun nostalgic throwbacks to the era of classic PC gaming like the Commodore 64, Atari 2600, Apple II, etc.

Turn on the retro Orchard Gaming System and once it boots up, load a cartridge! Play four different typing games:

🦀 Typing of the Crab 🦀 Defend the crabapple trees from the wandering crabs - Type words to defeat them, unlock unique power ups & get through all the waves to fight the Boss.

🎃 Under A Witch's Spelling 🎃\ Happy Halloween 2026!!* Grow & harvest ripe pumpkins in the Halloween harvest - Type words to harvest pumpkins & fend off ghoulish ghosts - then carve 3 of the pumpkins for Halloween!.

🍲 It's Typing Hot! 🍲 Follow the steps to prepare recipes for a four course meal - Type the words as they appear, then see what the Head Chef thinks of your meal.

🏴‍☠️ ARRR-Type 🏴‍☠️ Sail across the sea to search for treasure, pick the locks on the chests and collect the coins inside - you never know when you'll be attacked by an enemy ship. Ready the cannons!

*turning off the console or removing a cartridge while playing will auto-save & recall your progress

When I'm really trying hard to push up my typing speed on typing games I at most usually pull around 80WPM. I know people who can type at like 120 - so how do I get to that level? Tons of practice? is there some method I should know about that helps people type faster?
