Esports C9's entire team vs one Brazilian top laner - FUR vs C9 - Worlds 2026 Spoiler

u/Floowil 5h ago
Yesterday Guigo had probably the worst Ornn in proplay history and now he's doing this
64
u/croninhos2 4h ago
BR fans are used to it. Guigo is just always flipping lanes. Sometimes he will look like a beast, sometimes will look like the dumbest fuck ever.
Dude had some of the best coaches to ever be in the league and none of them managed to fix that shit. At this point I think we just have to accept it.

That serie was a fluke, i think that furia did a awfull series against MVK bcs of various issues with the CBlol calendar, the CBlol was 3 patchs behind and the final was last week. The next serie gonna show if this is just me coping or if Furia really was harmed by circumstances.

I still don't trust Furia after yesterday and first game today. MVK are clearly below CFO and TSW but they can perfectly win against Furia again.

I once thought Thanatos was good vs shit tops and shit vs decent tops but turns out he's just shit
95
u/Pilvikas 5h ago
He's just typical KR import top paycheck collector. Doesn't hard lose lanes if he does then it's gracefully, has every now and then carry performances, shits bed when he goes to internationals. Oh and most importantly makes sure his stats look okayish so he can collect paycheck for longer.
16
u/Billy8000 2h ago
He was definitively a top 2 top laner in LCS this year with the other one being a KR import as well lol. It’s unfortunately not paycheck stealing if the rest of the competition isn’t better

C9s korean players got gapped so hard today, there is a reason these guys were in academy
303
u/Moocat2855 5h ago
Dom said loki is one of the best players he’s ever seen. Why is one of the best players getting gapped by guigo and tatu.
117
u/Crapcicle6190 Xmithie Peenoi Pride 5h ago
Dom’s “just play what feels right” coaching style doesn’t work when your opponents are the world’s best teams
You need an actual gameplan, not “I leave it up to the team vibes at draft”
162
u/Valuable_Berry_8626 5h ago edited 4h ago
I dont think Furia is even close to being "one of the worlds best teams".
They simply recognized that C9 always plays to slowly reach soul and picked a better scaling comp every game. C9 essentially just had to play well the soul teamfights (both vs KC and Furia) and every single time their players lose their nerve and just make a shit decision.
61
u/antraxsuicide 4h ago
The way so many teams misunderstand the value of drag stacking is insane to me. When you’re on soul point and they have no drags, you don’t have to flip the fourth drag! They have to spend wards and resources on drag pit because they can’t let you have soul for free. You do not have to do that because they’re not on soul point.
So often (including in this series), teams could win the trade by just gobbling up the Baron or jg camps and pushing waves topside for free but they group up and flip at dragon.
26
u/LittleTinyBoy 4h ago
It's NA teams trying and failing to follow lck strats. They follow it without understanding why it's being done. The goal is to win the game, not get soul then win the game lol
→ More replies (1)17
u/Crapcicle6190 Xmithie Peenoi Pride 5h ago edited 4h ago
They’re definitely better than whatever the fuck we have going on in NA based on this series
And if they made it to worlds, they’re one of the best teams in their region, and therefore one of the best teams in the world since they’re playing in the world championship (FYI there’s multiple pro LoL teams per country that can’t even break into their league)
It’s like saying the FIFA football teams aren’t the best in the world just cause their country is historically weak, when you compare them to their country’s domestic leagues they’re definitely the best, therefore one of the best teams in the world relatively speaking based on the tournament/league format.
21
u/polikuji09 4h ago
I mean this is silly. C9 did not play like this domestically. C9 has a known choking problem and it was pretty clear again here and even in late playoffs. Tactical isn't getting hit by literally everything, flashing onto death, and missing ziggs ult on a stunned target when he's qualifying to worlds.
And C9 KC showed very clearly that when C9 isn't choking they're legit good
12
u/Mammoth-Usual-4949 4h ago
Yeah cuz Blaber chokes at worlds every single year. He's not a clutch gamer
1
u/Valuable_Berry_8626 4h ago
Lol okay. I guess we can also call DIG one of the best teams in the world. There's a shit ton of T4-T2 amateur teams world wide they'd roll and are easily in the top 1%.
We still dont call them one of the best teams in the world do we?
→ More replies (1)30
u/Zamoniru give us back old asol 5h ago
It doesn't even work when your opponents are Brazil's second best
8
u/angooseburger 4h ago
C9's problem is they have worse team coordination than every other worlds team. They run around like headless chickens in the mid game when they cant win lane. If they cant win lane, they can never beat worlds caliber teams.
8
u/Mammoth-Usual-4949 4h ago
it was cooked once he said he let Blaber pick Lillia cuz vibes in game 5 vs KC lmao
4
u/definitelynotdark 3h ago
Lillia was the least offensive part of that draft.
Ksante/Ziggs/Yone (building botrk (??????????)), literally nothing is going to save that draft because all three of your lanes do NO DAMAGE, Lillia was the best thing that came out of that draft because you can sleep + ziggs ult but Tactical doesn't seem to know any ziggs mechanics like the center of the ult dealing more damage/literally missing almost every ult but I digress.
Then today first picking Ezreal and drafting Orianna + Naafiri and watching furia slam chogath is the same fucking problem again, drafting a comp that does NO DAMAGE, into watching chogath literally walk at Ezreal and flash over raptor pit and 100-0, just embarrassing drafts all tournament.
As someone who has never watched c9 all year with only two series to go off of, my impression was that their draft strategy was "pick comfort and let's try to win here, keep up your mental" when I was in vc with friends talking about the game. Apparently this is their actual strategy???? Embarrassing.
6
u/oioioi9537 5h ago
I genuinely dont get how he opens vi in both series. Its the most permabanned jungler

He smoking crack loki is dogshit
14

u/zOmgFishes 5h ago
What's the point of a 7 man roster if you never use your subs lol. Loki and Tactical were horrendous. If you need your ADC to just play safe then why not play Zven? Why not try APA when you see Loki run it down for 8+ games in a row.
13
u/Huge-Connection954 3h ago
Its not a 7 man roster theres no way zven or apa have scrimmed in months
40
u/oioioi9537 5h ago
Because zven and apa are dogshit lol we acting like they wouldnt get absolute railed either
3
u/ricardo241 IDon'tAgree 3h ago
people spent time shitting on the two and when they get replaced they are now asking for those two to be back,,,, seriously people.... C9 problem obviously is not just mid and adc its a team problem and they need an overhaul to fix that shit
21
u/zOmgFishes 5h ago
I mean Tactical and Loki were getting railed regardless. Change it up if you are running a 7 man roster. What's the worse that can happen? They lose to Furia like they already did? The whole point of having subs is to put them in in spots where your other guys are not working. If you are going to ride and die with these players who are playing like shit regardless then don't bother with running an expanded roster.

I was not an apa fan, but at least he brought some brains to the roster, his sidelaning alone won them multiple games this year
→ More replies (1)•
u/RlDennis 1h ago
Not really an apa fan either but one thing I feel like he excelled in was being the great neutralizer (other than his sidelaning)
14
u/Bubbly_Camera9583 4h ago
Zven is still a downgrade even when you need him to play safe, APA should've gotten way more playing time and when he gets a starting spot next year people will realize that he's just better than Loki.
6
u/zOmgFishes 4h ago
I don't believe in Zven at all but sometimes you just need to change it up when it's clear players are just mentally checked out . You have an expanded roster, what is the point of not using it after seeing how bad some of these guys are playing? At the very least get APA in on a mage or something.
2
u/Kurumi_Tokisaki 2h ago
Even if apa isn’t caps I hope he gets a proper team and prove his value. Maybe even knock c9 out.
2
u/Jake43134 5h ago
They at least made it to worlds with this roster. How did APA and Zven do?
25
u/zOmgFishes 4h ago
They finished 3rd in Spring with APA and Zven, finished 3rd in Summer with Loki and Tactical. So nothing changed expect the numbers of spots up for grabs at an international event. They technically didn't even make into worlds with this squad crashing out in play ins.

NA used to be able to pick up actually talented Korean imports, now they’re fucking broke so instead of Impact and Ssumday they’re slumming it with guys who couldn’t make the cut in LCK to begin with.
13
u/Calistilaigh 4h ago
Morgan?
15
u/TheAlmightyVox3 4h ago
The last time Morgan even made playoffs in LCK was Spring 2022. He’s not a bad player, but he’s also a far cry from what NA used to be able to get.

u/NenBE4ST 3h ago
It’s always a weird narrative because players like quid and quad and saint are literally our best mid laners in the last 2 years lmao

Impact and ssumday were considered semi-washed in Korea by the time NA picked them up. NA just has pivoted to picking up Korean prospects and gambling on their development instead of guys who had one foot out of the LCK. Of course NA is one of the worst places you can go if you want to develop...
15
u/SterbenVII BIG BENSEN 3h ago edited 3h ago
Ssumday was still considered one of the three best top laners in the world when he joined Dig… he was 2nd team all pro behind Smeb, who was considered a top 2 player itw
As for Impact, he didn’t have that great of a year at SKT, but they stomped OGN Winter after winning Worlds

In furia's previous game, some people were saying "how is guigo a pro player?".
This begs the age old question : how bad is C9?
6

Guigo is a coinflip top. He isn’t the consistant top that farms and plays tanks, he flips lane every game and frequently feeds (and ocassionaly carries).

11
u/Budget-Ocelots 5h ago
Should've disbanded when they hired Dom.
21
u/Northbynorthish 5h ago
Dom's a massive issue but there's only one player who has been with the team since Summer 2023, and it's Blaber.
Since that time, C9 dropped out of Worlds 2023, going 1-3 in Swiss. They then missed every Riot international in 2024 and 2025, lost to Furia (lol) in the Esports World Cup 2025, couldn't hack it in Kespa Cup 2025, missed First Stand and MSI 2026, then managed to make it to Worlds only to lose to Brazil once more.
Utterly embarrassing. If NA finally dies out, my one solace will be that I will never have to see this dog shit org infest League esports ever again.

After I saw how they lost yesterday to KC, I had a sneaking suspicion this would happen today. They are better than what they showed. I think the problem is many faceted. The way C9 losses is the same every year, just a lack of focus and a propensity to sacrifice too much for certain plays. The challenge is where do you go from here. I think keeping Dom and Yamoto if possible is the way to go. The team looked better and more cohesive after Dom took over as HC. Their drafts are fine beyond a few stinkers, but they would have drafts with ways to win. Tactical is good in a pinch and looked the best he ever has but still ints at times. Thanatos if he wants to suffer another year here is a great keep and one of the best top laners in the region. Same with Vulcan, they must keep him. I think we need to have real conversations about Blaber. He is the NA goat jungle (depending on how you think about Inspired, I don’t consider him strictly NA but he is the goat western jungle). The talent pool at jungle is also very thin if you use your international spots on power positions. But a lot of the problems with C9 do stem from him. He forces a lot of resources to be effective and his shot calling has always been problematic. The hope is you craft the right team around him and you reenergize what makes him great: pathing, skirmishing and mechanics. Otherwise, i think you might take a risk on Griffin. Loki i could take or leave and i do think they move off tactical. For a team that struggled as much as they did this year, i am proud of them, even if i am frustrated and disappointed. Lots to take away from this year

•
u/Wide-Ad-2270 37m ago
Honestly, i really can see it both ways. If you asked me who i wanted to build around to compete internationally I’d take prime Jankos any day. I just think Inspired is so unitary in why his teams win that i rank him a hair above Jankos. However, if your bias is Jankos (not that you need me to affirm) i can easily see it.

I am a biased APA enjoyer but very curious what Thanatos/Griffin/APA/Massu/Vulcan would look like. I think APA’s macro and shot calling is underrated and Griffin plays enough off meta stuff that I think APA’s unusual champ pool would become a style rather than bad for synergy.

lmao you can't call your region the best or even good so you have to make yourselves feel better by saying "at least we're not as bad as NA", actual bronze medal mentality.
EU has been a joke at worlds ever since they changed the format and they couldn't sneak out of groups off cheesing bo1s. when was the last quarterfinal they played that wasn't a complete stomp with LEC casters getting more and more depressed every game?

Because outside international LANs they have no way to practice good habits.
You can't force it and even importing doesn't work because the second they start playing on our clown server they pick up bad habits.
It's mostly a culture thing
Also not much incentive at the end, a lot of work playing catch up to read regions for little actual benefit outside burning out

Coaches were in a complete lose/lose. They throw every late game, and they lost all confidence to do anything early.
2
u/Ajp_iii 3h ago
yeah its so hard to draft for this c9 team at this point in play ins. they couldnt win lane. they cant win teamfights. they refuse to snowball leads or not get caught on sidelanes. wtf do you want to draft. tactical cant hit ziggs ult on ccd targets.
the game 1 taking forever to finish killed all confidence from the players to try to make plays. tactical after getting caught on lucian in fights just decided to sit way too far in the back and never step up in teamfights the rest of the series. loki tried to just perma flank but late to everything. thanatos never knew how to teamfight.
also ranged supports outscale melees and win lanes but c9 cant play at all unless vulcan is on engage.
