i understand why all of these teams are in playins

u/Cold-Ring23 6h ago
Drake slop, zero macro, afraid of baron...
8
u/SupremeBall27 6h ago
Squishy team with Lucian as your best obj shredder and no tank against hunter + enemy team full 5 man re-engage. Are they afraid of baron or are you afraid of using your brain? So many other small things to pick at, not sure why you picked the one smart play.
1
u/Cold-Ring23 6h ago
They could have done it on two occasions—it’s not for nothing that they aren’t top-tier teams. The same goes for KC, who spent the entire Summer Split just stacking up drakes; when the level of play rises, they’re nowhere to be found.
1
u/Rs3ironbtw 5h ago
Yea like im an na fan but didnt they have like a team ace with only blabber dead and didnt take baron with it? I was only half watching but lowkey can none of these teams make it through and we take demacia cup winner instead? Lol

u/BUMONGOUS 6h ago
C9 had the game won by 22 minutes, but it took another 18 of Furia repeatedly choosing to punch themselves in the cock to close it out.
Not a good look.
15
u/Choice-Slight caps/knight 6h ago
I understand the concern but given how many games they've thrown it makes complete sense why they're playing so passively. they are just scared
16
u/Gluroo 6h ago
Being scared vs probably the worst team in the whole tournament is an even worse look though
4
u/OreRound 6h ago
Not when you know the game is a guaranteed win the later it goes on and if you just play to stack objectives and late game 5v5s.
Not the most interesting but it's worlds. You don't want to fuck it up. Against better teams we've already seen they can play faster but they just don't need to vs Furia and it's the only way they can lose.
1
u/myman580 6h ago
It wasn't even like they were fully scared. Like they tried to make things happen but Blaber kept on blundering his Qiyana ults or Tactical with another malphite cosplay like he didn't expect a pro level support to be able to press exhaust on him if he flashed into 3 people. Like the moment anyone besides Vulcan leads a play it ends in disaster.
1
u/TheCanadian666 6h ago
They aren't scared of the other team, they're scared of their own ability to throw.
1
u/BUMONGOUS 6h ago
I feel like the longer a game goes with a comp like C9s, the more it tends back towards being a 50/50
2
u/garlicjuice April Fools Day 2018 6h ago
This is just how C9 likes to play. Build and maintain a lead and get soul.
The issue is that blaber randomly ints sometimes. The game will be a lot easier if he doesn't do that
136
u/Floowil 6h ago
Even tho C9 won, that was definitely not a good look for them. Tatu tried his hardest to give them a win.
54
u/Sofaboy90 quite suboptimal 6h ago
I didnt watch any LCS but based on the KC series and this match, they seem to have issues closing out games. 40mins for this game? against Furia? damn
52
u/F4Phantomll 6h ago
Yes. That's why they put up the C9 Dragon soul stats. They have the lowest winrate with dragon soul out of every team at Worlds. As soon as the late game is a little bit uncomfortable they'll shit themselves
26
u/justicecactus 6h ago
C9 used to play much faster, but they threw so many gold leads this year that I think they're traumatized.
Hilariously, c9 beat the slowest team in the LCS -- Lyon -- in their first Bo5 by somehow playing EVEN SLOWER. So I think C9 learned that playing slow is the solution to throwing lol.
11
u/OreRound 6h ago
They can play fast (they goomba stomped multiple games in playoffs Vs TL and LYON) but I feel like they know as long as they play slow in this series it's a guaranteed win. It could also be because they're scared of throwing
11
u/ahambagaplease Ketchup and Fries Worlds and a large Sprite~~ 6h ago
Furia needs to learn to take small wins instead of looking for an Ace every other play.
9
15
6
u/Rawdream 6h ago
Tatu was doing that in MSI, too.
That's why I suspected this team wasn't going to do much at WC.
4
u/PeaceAlien 6h ago
That’s what people said about KC game 2 vs C9 lol. So these teams just looking bad?
32
u/Linaslol 6h ago
hate to be a pessimist but i can literally feel that feeling i used to get when watching our teams at worlds watching C9. Just slow, scared, playing not to lose. They wont last long if they play like this. What happened the c9 that beat lyon?

u/PartyCauliflower7044 Faker is Lpl's father 6h ago
Didnt know razork is playing for furia
2
u/ficoplati 6h ago
Hey last time razork played against blaber he gapped his ass don't disrespect the goat like that
16
u/myman580 6h ago
C9 Malphite showed up and almost gave the game to Furia but Furia has no idea how to play around Baron so it didn't matter.
27
u/No-Entry-9219 6h ago edited 6h ago
I'm more depressed watching this game compared to their loss yesterday. Disgustingly scared they needed Furia to randomly int an 0-5 ace to them for no reason to even be able to close out this game

u/Lawfulneptune 6h ago
40 minutes to beat this bad region was scary, but it was a stomp in the end I guess lol
14
u/Wonder_Penguin 6h ago
C9 also known as cardiac 9 for the amount of heart attacks they give their fans every game

u/Aggressive-Cut-3828 THE GAME 5 DEVIL & THE GOD OF THUNDER 6h ago
c9 win game 1 so they lose the series, according to my understanding
11
u/Kappa_God 6h ago
Picking Kalista, a champion designed to show you're better than your opponent and needing to win lane to be relevant, as a BR team is a bold, if not completely stupid move.
2
u/Ok_Newspaper5229 6h ago
ayu did fine, tatu ran it and the wildcard ambessa was not it
1
u/Kappa_God 6h ago
Furia bot lane never got a lead in CS. In fact they were even at best, which actually same thing as losing as a Kalista. If the bot lane duo can't guarantee a lead as Kalista, just pick something else and be more useful later.
2
1
u/whynot1260 6h ago
It's a 5Head strat now you took it away from the player with better hands for the rest of the series

u/Pilvikas 6h ago
I just don't see this C9 doing anything in swiss stage, they play like Korean teams of s3-s6 slow patient wait for mistake, but it's s16 and they don't have the players needed to go far playing like this.
2

1
u/Pilvikas 6h ago
I honestly think they will win vs MVK pretty easily, since they play slow and methodical.
-1
u/BecomingAmemory 6h ago
I think every na team plays like old Korean very slow
2
u/Pilvikas 6h ago
I mean I kinda get it stacking dragons then slowly pushing lead is easiest wincon, but you wont be able to easily stack dragons or play like that vs CN KR teams
15
11
u/Relevant-Physics432 6h ago
its amazing how none of the teams in playins are looking good lmao. KC today looked decent and patient (maybe a bit too much) and mvk looked good against furia (but furia is abysmal)
5
u/Fridginator 6h ago
Its always like this isnt it? Last year theshy went like 3/15 in the playing vs t1
1
u/Relevant-Physics432 6h ago
but in previous years you at least have at least some individuals playing well. here it feels like everyone forgot how to play

u/shoham13 6h ago
I have not played a ranked game since like season 5 and this C9 team had me PTSD'd of my gold adv games
4
u/genshin_dolphin 6h ago
least confident qiyana player. you'd have thought j4 was the jungler with the 3k gold lead.

u/Wallahi-broski 6h ago
Why is Tactical the only shining spot on C9? This is insane.
13
u/TheBigF128 despair 6h ago
Nah I’d say Vulcan has been their best player probably the whole year and in this tourney so far
9
u/TheGloriousEv0lution 6h ago
Thanatos and Loki have been big disappointments
8
u/EronisKina 6h ago
Yeah... Idk ppl put blame on tactical for some int plays which he deserves. However, he keeps them in games. Loki and Thanatos get leads and are MIA after. It is their first international, but it's still rough to see, especially knowing they can play way better.
7
u/TheGloriousEv0lution 6h ago
Not sure if I’d even say Loki gets leads. He was down in lane and lost lane hard against KC (granted in tough matchups)
Tactical makes more egregious mistakes which looks a lot worse to viewers, but he’s been their best player along with Vulcan
0
u/Ajp_iii 6h ago
they are really good in lane but they are so invisible in teamfights or putting pressure on in mid games.
3
u/TheGloriousEv0lution 6h ago
Thanatos has been good in lane, but Loki loses lane and looks lost in teamfights outside of the Locke game tbh

u/tiredofdev 6h ago
I have never seen a Millio ult have so much value in a single game. Felt like a cheat code
6
u/bazinga221 6h ago
Their entire draft was insanely strong into Furia's champs. Qiyana counters Jarvan, Syndra counters Ahri, Rumble and Lucian counter their entire low range comp.
4
u/EquivalentReporter94 6h ago
I mean it's the whole point of millio. If they had no engage millio feel so useless

u/A_Toxic_User MORE EBOY LORE PLEASE 6h ago
Despite c9’s best efforts, they managed to win the game.

13
u/IllFeedback1568 6h ago
I think the most accurate depiction of C9 is that they're a team playing to not lose. Everytime they have a convincing lead, they play as if they're behind, which results in very volatile game states. Some of their sequences mid-game are just straight terrible, but they compensate with good skirmishes/picks.
9
u/TheBigF128 despair 6h ago edited 6h ago
Definitely not imo, I feel the exact opposite lol. They play to snowball hard, even when they don’t need to, and that leads to them making mistakes when rotating around the map.
They become very telegraphed because they keep looking for plays, so teams can punish that. Busio said it pretty well, they kept baiting C9 into positions because they would pretend to hover lanes or posture around an objective, and then catch c9 mid rotation or on a mid wave
3
u/OswaldAnderson 6h ago
Ahh the old TSM worlds play style
1
u/TheBigF128 despair 6h ago
Nah they play nothing like TSM. TSM would sack objectives and play scaling champs, and hope to win a teamfight in the mid game. C9 plays like they’re on crack, they will take every fight and if they lost the fight, they’ll go back in to still try to win it only to lose more lol
6
u/GuiltyVeek 6h ago
I dont think this is accurate. Rather some players force instead of recognizing best times.
2
u/justintolboe 6h ago
Yeah it's like they're not patient enough or *too* patient at the wrong times.
1
u/TheBigF128 despair 6h ago
Yeah, there’s so many times they just all in for a pick, which is great if it works, but if it doesn’t work, the game has to go longer because they can’t get their objective. And then they are more prone to throwing the longer the game goes because of it.
2
5
u/F4Phantomll 6h ago
I like Blaber but he just plays every jungle champion the same way it's sad to watch. Used to pick Olaf and go up 100 cs 1v9 games now he just go even in farm with Qiyana Lilia incapable of getting any individual leads. Sansan/Gury Qiyana unironically would've stomped this game already

Furia playing like vini jr. - stubborn as fuck and losing their nerves for no reason.

u/thewiggen 6h ago
Please just put blaber on tanks, Loki on assassins, and Thano on carries. Play around tactical.
3
u/BrokenBlades377 Certified windshitter 6h ago
That’s kind of an oxymoron… how do you play around tactical if all your solo lanes are on carries
2
u/2020isgreat TheShy 6h ago
C9 being reverse swept would be very on brand
5
u/bazinga221 6h ago
I don't think Furia have the mental to reverse sweep. Last series they threw a game and got completely mental boomed afterwards.

I don't know how LOUD are with their player changes after First Stand,
but they may have performed better than FUR & I was hoping they could do it.
If MSI proved anything, it's they're too emotional and solo queueish.
It's not about nameplates. FUR are not performing.

I'm so tired of these teams picking Ambessa into Rumble, do they not know that Ksante exists?

Somebody check Tatu's search history, he was probably watching some Yike vods
0
u/Fun_Highlight307 6h ago
Lmao C9 with Lyon cosplay, it's almost felt like they asked Lyon
C9:Big bro how we can beat Lyon?
Both teams look so stressed out, peak cinema we are going sliver scrapes
0
u/Specialist_Dog8355 6h ago
Imagine how much healthier and fun the game would be if the item that gives you 105 ap and 45 armor with 2.5 seconds of on demand invincibility on a 2 minute cooldown was removed.
2
u/polterere 6h ago
Yeah man how dare assassins have counterplay when zed looks at you you should die because he really deserves it for pressing R.
1
u/Specialist_Dog8355 6h ago
Why are only AP mages allowed this counterplay? Make an ad version of zhonyas then. This item is ridiculous and only serves to give players a get-out-of-jail-free card for playing poorly.
1
u/polterere 5h ago
The AD version exists, it's called GA. AP champs don't get access to GA.
1
u/Specialist_Dog8355 3h ago
Not only does GA give worse stats than zhonyas, you dont cant choose when to proc it and it has 100 seconds more cooldown than zhonyas and you get access to a one time use of zhonya's passive just from buying one component. Youll notice that zhonyas is so broken that adc pro players even build it as a last item. Ive seen a seekers armguard on lucian several times, when an akali builds ga i'll say that item is as broken as zhonyas.

u/Darth_Squirtle 6h ago
This is why i wanted Fly or even fecking SR to go to worlds. You can always rely on C9 to choke. wtf was that. golden boy millionaire blabber doesnt know how to play qiyana.
I trust DIG more than these absolute clowns in internationals.
-5
u/OswaldAnderson 6h ago
I can't believe blaber, tactical and vulcan are still playing. Did NA just give up on achieving anything at worlds? Where's the new talent?
3
2
u/the_legends_of_link 6h ago
Vulcan is a top 2 or 3 western support currently lol why wouldn't he be playing?
-1
6
u/thenoblitt 6h ago
Cant believe Faker is still playing. Did Korea just give up on achieving anything at worlds? Wheres the new talent?
-1
u/OswaldAnderson 6h ago
Yeah.... Comparing the only 6 time and current reigning world champion is a great comparison.
1
u/Doc_Happy1 6h ago
If anything the two imports have been looking like liabilities. Both Loki and Thanatos were down in 4/5 KC games.
1
u/DS2isGoated 6h ago
I mean literally yes. NA killed its whole talent development pipe line.
That was the white flag right there
1
u/OswaldAnderson 6h ago
Oh did they? I haven't followed NA for a while
2
u/DS2isGoated 6h ago
Few years ago NA teams all got rid of their academy teams and most teams dont even keep a 6 man let alone a second string.
It's all just who is left from the before times and imports.
