Esports The broadcast is so much better when the crew have stakes in the game

I feel like the casts get so much better when you feel the highs and lows of the casters whilst the game is ongoing. I find when they have to be neutral, it's obvious you can hear them holding back on what they say.

I can understand this being an issue when both the casters are from the same region, in which case, it needs to be that way, but having a caster from NA and a caster from EU makes it so fun. Now I'm not saying they should be shitting on each other mid cast, but it is just better as a watch and listen.

What're your thoughts?

This sentiment took a hit with a few broadcasts back in the day that were perceived as poor in quality or too biased. The casters of those times have totally stepped it up and nowadays it’d be hard to disagree. Seeing the cast yesterday turn into a Mind the Gap episode in terms of banter just elevated the whole thing.

The problem wasn’t casters being biased, but the cast being biased. We would have a bunch of LCS or LEC casters/analysts casting a match against LCK/LPL with no LCK/LPL casters. Which means the story of the LCK/LPL team isn’t being told, so you get generic David vs. Goliath for the nth time

I can understand that, I feel in that scenario it shouldn't disappear as, honestly, it appears to make the cast generic. If you want that, that's where, say an LEC team is playing China, you should have American casters. But there's for sure some nuances to go through.

No I would prefer that they just include casters loyal to each region on each analyst desk or cast. If it’s an LCK or LPL team, at least one caster or analyst should be from LCK or LPL

Agreed, there are also English casters that’ve worked on LPL/LCK. One of the reason it sucked they got rid of the English LPL broadcast. Or Wadid for G2 and the content on LCK.

I was a huge fan of LPL before they got rid of the broadcast, but even before it died Riot didn't ever bring the LPL English casters to worlds. For years now the "LPL rep" has been Emily and while I like her on broadcast having an LCS analyst as the only representation for the historically second best region is really sad.

Yeah it sucks that the official LPL English team never got chances like Lyric and Munchables. The only time anyone from LPL English got a chance is when they moved to other major regions.

Yeah, we saw that with C9 vs. FUR today. It's prolly not that big of a deal because Brazilian fans are presumably watching a different stream, but a lot of westerners are fans of LCK/LPL teams and want to feel represented on those as well.

Don't think that's go8ng to happen this worlds. There's only one goliath in hle. The rest is just going to be a fist fight.

You never know! G2 beat the ’best’ version of GENG already this year when they were sever underdogs!

Yeah then it's just a fist fight all around. Except for Brazil ig.

When did this happen? I remember maybe one series like this in ten years of watching pro play

Literally every LPL vs LEC/LCS game ever because their casters were never included?

Every Worlds between like 2015-2024

I think part of the issue back in the day especially in EU was that the cast was biased in own region casting. Like G2 or FNC were always the best of the region and they would show clear bias on cast

The in region rap battles with teams right there 🤣

Then actually watching the mind the gap since then "we're both awful but you just happened to be worse". Total fantastic ragebait

I absolutely love Drakos because he's biased whenever G2 plays internationally. I don't know how to explain it, it's like he lets you live vicariously through his calls especially if G2 is winning. Stay goated Daniel Drakos.

Being biased during the cast is fine since professionalism takes over during the important moments.

Being biased after when talking about the game less so.

You can never truly remove bias and I dont expect them too. But the fnatic speech was posr game bias that didnt land.

I dont know if that makes sense but it does to me. Basically I sort of want it to be more professional when analyzing the whole game or series but during the actual match the bias being used as humor is fine.

The C9 vs KC cast was my favorite one in a while and I really enjoy listening to LEC matches already. You could hear the tension in that game 5 draft it was great

I want Jatt and Vedius casting together as much as possible, the chemistry is great.

Yeah it is which is why it’s bad they haven’t built up casters for all regions to use on worlds, if you watch traditional sports they bring in regional figures to do the same but riot’s screwed that up over years.

That why I really like the french cast from OTP, they of course are all behind french team but some have teams they REALLY like and not afraid of showing it, in bad times or good times, which when it happen to end up in a final with both caster for each team, is pure cinema (but still professional about the cast for sure)

Similar fashion is why I loved Phreak casting OCE games. Early on he casted finals here and ever since he always sung OCE teams praises even if we were total underdogs.

Whenever we made it out of play ins they went crazy.

No. I want impartial casts even if I want NA to win.

Agreed with the exception of Vedius casting G2, his fandom for the team comes through far too clearly to the point it seems like he just stops casting and goes into pouting if they're losing badly.

I just don't like vedius, can't believe the casters we've lost over the years and this guy is still here
