Vietnamese players usually play at 100 ping on Korean servers and I believe lots of them are usually stuck at GM or Master. This is also why SOFM was a legend. He was the only challenger player back when he still played from Vietnam.

I haven't been following and pre-Worlds coverage, so maybe someone can fill me in.
Why were the casters saying that this was unexpected? For the past year or so, the LCP have been a respectable region in internationals. While they've cool down from the highs of prime CFO, they still have a decent track record. What has Furia and CBLOL shown that I'm missing?

Hi, LCP caster here. This was surprising even to me. There is a significant drop between LCP 2 (CFO) and MVK. I was uneducated on CBLOL so may have overestimated Furia, but still did not expect this result. MVK are 4 rookies that have ever attended anything like worlds, we did not expect them to come out swinging quite this hard.

This is LCP3 though, and they've looked like a clear step down from TSW and CFO. Meanwhile Furia is seen as basically equal to Los. And Furia has some recognizable names from past internationals, which gets valued above unknowns no matter how well/poorly they did.

Furia stomped an NA team earlier this year (C9, so it’s not like it was a big accomplishment tbh - they’re leagues below the other top NA teams).
Since then I feel like they’ve been overvalued by NA casters.
Don’t get me wrong they beat C9 fair and square and completely outclassed them. But that doesn’t really mean much, C9 just played like shit

With this loss, Furia is now 0-12 at International tournaments this year:
0-3 LYON, 0-3 T1 (MSI)
0-1 G2, 0-2 DK (EWC)
0-3 MVKE (Worlds)
Many analysts said Furia have a chance to make it out of Play-ins due to aggressive early games. In reality they got their asses violated by the "weakest team by analysts" MVKE.
Overhyped brainless region that somehow getting more slots and favourable seeding by RIOT despite abysmal showing at every Internationals.
And remember, CBLOL #1 barely won against this turd but somehow is in Pool 2 for swiss stage, equal to HLE and BLG, higher than T1 and LYON.

Sure, they couldn't exactly hash it with the best of the best, but TW, LJL, and VCS sometimes took games off tier 1 regions and were usually worth a watch in play-ins. Riot cramming them all into some ugly unwanted stepchild basket was so undeserved.

They are historically the worst performing region that still exists today. They were worse than LJL and Russia. I don’t remember the results of the Turkish team.
Their best result in like 10 years is beating a choking, jetlagged C9 at the first matches of a brand new season/patch while C9 were internally booming and later replaced players/coaches.
LCS never deserved to lose their seed for Brazil. I’m totally okay with Brazil having two seeds, but it shouldn’t have been at the expense of LCS. Brazil has no results to justify it.

Turkey was an average minor region, with some good showings, until Farfetch showed up, went 0-10 in every game and got the region relegated.
Brazil is just geographically isolated, it sucks for them. They are 6,000 miles away from LA and the NA servers, entirely isolated. BR is largely only able to play with themselves and not being pushed by other regions and better players. Its a real shame because they have the audience, interest and passion for it, it would be amazing if Brazil was good, but they just aren't and it'll only get harder as the game is pushed further

He actually played really well that game, and then his team just didn't understand how to play through their top laner, who was 2K gold ahead.
I can fully believe that he maybe turbo mental boomed after that. Although even a Turbo Mental Boom doesn't excuse the disgusting level of play in games 2 and 3.
