I'm thinking of getting L4D2 and wondering if i should get a mic as well. Is VC super common or do most people not use it?

I know it is theoretically obtainable, but does anyone who got the game at the relevant time still play?

So I've tried reinstalling LFD2, reverifying the files, installing it on a new SSD, restarting steam, restarting the PC, unsubscribing from all of my LFD2 mods, reinstalling them via a workshop collection.

The addon folder is filled with photos of the workshop mod pages, but nothing is installed through the steam workshop downloader.

Like I can download mods from MCC's steam workshop just fine, Black Ops 3 just fine. But only L4D2 seems to just be utterly failing at downloading any mods.

Like, I hit the big green subscribe button. Everything works fine, but when opening the steam download page, no L4D2 download instance ever shows up regardless of the size of the mod.

Even right clicking L4D2 in my steam library, properties and goes to the workshop tab, it'll show the "installed" mods but all of their sizes are 0 bytes large.

And most importantly, L4D2 is installed on my SSD with around 200GB's of available storage space so it's not like I'm out of space for the mods.

This isn't affecting ANY other game with a steam workshop, I've tried, just LFD2.

What in the feth is going on here? I've also seen some other people have this same issue on the steam discussion page for L4D2 but no one has seemed to figure out what's going on.

I even made a steam support ticket and they've got no clue why this issue is going on.

Would really love some help understand/fixing this from people who know much more than I do about L4D2.

a little update on my previous post, i've now managed to add entirely new special infected to L4D2 without replacing any of the original ones

this is the Screamer, a special infected Valve originally cut from L4D, it wanders around until it spots a survivor, at which point it screams, runs away and summons a horde

this is all part of RotWire, the modding framework im working on that will eventually allow people to create their own infected and completely custom AI behaviours through a visual editor

it's still very early in development but i thought this was worth showing off

note: i used nb_blind 1 for the demonstration, which is why the other special infected are ignoring me, otherwise i'd have the Charger, Jockey and Hunter absolutely annihilating me while trying to record lol

Custom campaigns are often set in unspecified locations, so while working on my own Europe-based maps, I got curious about how many custom campaigns exist that are set in actual European places.

After a few days of research (Shoutout to Olde and everyone on the previous post for helping with this) I've mapped out every original custom campaign I found that is confirmed to be set in Europe with the best accuracy I could ensure.

My criteria for this was pretty straightforward. Each campaign must:

• Be set in Europe (Geographically; So regions like Russia and Turkey are included)
• Be a campaign (No Survival- or Scavenge-only maps)
• Be finished (No abandoned projects; Finished ports by third parties are included)
• Be original (No ports from other games)
• Be made for L4D2 (No L4D1-exclusives)

In total, there were a surprising amount of campaigns. Out of these, all fit the respective criteria, with only the following caveats:

• A Baltic Tale is "located somewhere in Scandinavia" by the Baltic Sea, so I put it in Sweden.
• Breakpoint is a WIP, but since it's my project I know it's actively being worked on and will be completed, so it's not abandoned.
• Crunchtime is "situated in a small town in England, UK", but the exact location is not specified.
• Snow Den only states that it's "in a Northern European area" and takes place near a harbor; Its geography is very Norwegian, but the language on various signs is German, so I compromised and put it inbetween them in Denmark.
• Symbyosis is speculated to take place in the creator's hometown, but this is not confirmed.
• Prodeus Requiem takes place in "a fictional Europe country not Rome Italy", so I put it in Rome, Italy.

The locationally ambiguous campaigns are marked in orange, whereas the more reliably confirmed ones are marked in red (With wiggle room cause it's quite difficult to perfectly pin down some of them)
