KOTOR 2 My own personal thoughts on the popular Kreia identity theory, and my own theory on it Spoiler
Warning, this is going to be kind of a long post, I will try to keep it sweet, but I have a bad habit of making long posts as well.
There is a popular theory that Kreia is Arren Kae, the long-lost, thought to be deceased mother of the Handmaiden Brianna. I have seen YouTube videos, playthroughs, and that old "Let's Play" archive, and honestly? I think like everyone else, this theory has a lot of weight to it. It fits, makes a whole lot more sense than Kreia being that Entity demon from SWTOR, (this one raises a lot of condradictions), and is well thought and layed out.
However, from my observation, there are indeed reasons to still believe that Kreia could POSSIBLY NOT be Arren Kae, and why it remains a theory and is not fully a "confirmed but not said out loud" fact. Let's break down the evidences the theory lays out, and bring in some potential counter arguments.
1: Believe it or not, but Arren Kae was never mentioned in game or any other official source that she was a Jedi historian. All of the dialogue that mentions Kae never made that connection. Kreia was mentioned as a Jedi Historian, but not Kae, who was only described as a "Jedi Master".
2: Kavar saying "I thought you died in the Mandalorian Wars" to Kreia could be taken as evidence, and it can honestly go either way. However, there is potential for Kreia to still not be Kae even with this quote in mind. You see, many Jedi joined Revan in the Mandalorian Wars, and Revan welcomed Kae. Kreia got exiled from the Jedi Order for Revan's fall and corruption, meaning this was right as the Mandalorian Wars were ending or had already ended. Sure, Kae could have joined Revan late in the war, but given the cirumstance of Kreia it gets murky.
Also, just because Kreia was thought to have died in the Mandalorian Wars does not mean she joined Revan. It could go either way to be honest. This leads us to my next point.
3: Many people pointed out that Kae was described as Revan's "first and last master" and that Kreia was described the same. That is...kind of not true. For Kreia, it is for sure true. She says "Yes, he came to me, both before, and after", and Mical the Disciple says that "Revan returned to his original master" for advice in the Mandalorian Wars.
But Kae? Kae was never truly mentioned as Revan's first and last teacher. Let's look at Mical's quotes that mention Kae: "Revan had many masters, Zhar, Dorak, Master Kae before Kae left for the wars. It is said that he returned to his first master at the end of his training, in order to learn how he might best leave the Order." Now, this quote doesn't say "Kae was the last master Revan returned to" but just that he trained under Kae before she left for the wars, which could refer to any point in time really. We know Revan trained under so many various Jedi Masters, even more than Mical mentioned.
Also, note how Mical says "It was said he returned to his first master", and doesn't mention Kae in context at all. He is referring to Kreia. Also, when Mical says "it was said he returned to his firs master", take a note on the part where he says "it was said", meaning Mical got this information from somewhere else. All of the other dialogue with Mical has him say the same thing, just reworded differently, but I can assure you that he never makes a link that Kae was Revan's first teacher, just that he trained under her, and he talks of Revan's "first and final teacher" as if she was a different person, and Kreia messes with Mical's head to make him forget about her identity, but that doesn't automatically point to Kae, especially since Mical keeps talking about Kae.
4: There is the point out that Arren Kae's body was never recovered. This doesn't strike to me automatically as in "Arren Kae's body is missing and we cannot find her". Let's look at the source of this, the Handmaiden's quote: "She died in the battle that shattered Malachor V, and her body was never recovered." Brianna is saying this in the context of how she never missed or saw her mother, because she died in that battle. This quote doesn't say that "Kae's body is missing", but rather it could not be recovered. If Kae died at the Battle of Malachor V, it would have crushed her or something like that, and given the Mass Shadow Generator's devastation, it is obvious that her body would not be recovered, because everyone who died there won't be picked up by the Jedi and get a funeral. Brianna is just pointing out that because she died at Malachor V, she couldn't see her mother post-mortem.
5: Kreia was exiled for being blamed on the teachings of Revan, Kae was exiled for the shame of her birth.
These are the points I layed out that seem to be misinterpreteded. But there a a few things we need to point out that is in favor of the theory still, the REAL points:
1: Atris says "Kreia? Oh, that is not her name". Now, Atris could theoratically just be referring to Kreia's Sith identity as Darth Traya, but this is worth holding up still that Atris knows that "Kreia" is not her real name.
2: Kreia talks of battle like Brianna does, similar philosophy.
3: I got to admit, Kreia DOES look kinda like Kae.
4: Kreia seems to have a personal grudge against Brianna. It could be just because of Atris's involvement, but still....
5: Kreia pausing and talking highly of Kae, like "she is...said to be beautiful", is a rare thing for Kreia to say, especially pausing like that.
Now, let's go to the real-world meta context. Chris Avellone said sometime ago: "Can't comment, but good catch" in response to this theory. This comment could be taken either way, as Chris has used this before for other games where he intends it originally not to be the case, but it is good that people are making their own theories. However, I think there WAS or at least IS intentional involvement behind the scenes. In a recent podcast interview with Avellone and YouTuber/Podcaster PembridgeTV, he says this:
"You got the beat right", but he also points out he is not going to answer that question in the hopes of making another Star Wars game. Now, I think this is important. Personally, I think Avellone has a different intention for Kae and Kreia's connection that is not them being the same person. Why would Avellone keep it a mystery and not answer even if people made cohesive well constructed theories? There is really no more to learn of Kreia or Kae if they are the same, thus, this leads me to this conclusion:
Arren Kae and Kreia are not the same character or person, but from Avellone's intention, they are heavily connected somehow in the lore. Honestly, I have no answer, because what Avellone is thinking is for him alone until he decides to reveal it whenever that happens, but I can come up with a few ideas that expand on and inver the Kreia and Kae theory that does not make them the same character. Here is my contending theory:
Kreia is either Arren Kae's sister, or she is Kae's mother. Honestly, I personally like the idea that Kreia is Kae's mother, but sister could work as well. This adds a whole new layer and dimension to Kreia's connection with her. Kreia pausing and talking highly of Arren Kae, calling her "beautiful" is a sign of her affection for her long deceased daughter, (or sister).
If we go by this theory, Kreia had a battle philosophy that coincidently matched the Echani, and Arren Kae agreed with Kreia, (if she is Kreia's sister), or learned from Kreia, (if she is Kreia's daughter), about battle. Regardless if Kreia or Kae were sisters or mother & daughter, the result is the same: Kreia had a deep loving relationship with her daughter/sister, and when Arren had an affair with Yusanis the Echani general, and followed Revan to war, Kreia automatically followed her daughter or sister's footsteps to war. Arren fell in love with Yusanis because the Echani arts and philosophy matched her philosophy that she learned from Kreia, her mother, (or sister, if you prefer that).
The Mandalorian Wars took devastating consequences, as Arren got exiled for the shame of her birth. In the KOTOR Era, Jedi could actually have families, it was frowned upon but still allowed. In the KOTOR comics, Lucien Draay's mother, Kyndra Draay, married a non Jedi who became a Jedi, and Lucien's marternal grandfather, a Miraluka Jedi named Noab Hulis, married and had quite a bit of children, Kyndra being one of them.
Kreia could be another exception. Kreia probably had a normal affair or married, and had Arren, (if she is Arren's mother), and so this wouldn't be much of a problem. The problem with Arren is that she bore an illegitmate child with Yusanis, an Echani general who was already married and had children with his official wife, and Kae caused Yusanis to betray his oath, and this would be a big no no to the Jedi Council, especially since Kae may have been hiding it for some time.
If Kreia was Arren's mother or sister, she either would have initially accepted it, or from the beginning, she too was concerned and maybe even angry at this situation as well.
Regardless, Kreia was exiled by the Jedi Order for many of her students were fallen or rejected the Jedi ways. Revan is the most notable example, but if Arren is the daughter of Kreia, it stands to reason that Arren Kae making Yusanis betray his oaths and fight alongside her, and following Revan to war, may also have been a major factor for Kreia's exile.
After Aren Kae died in the Mandalorian Wars, this made a profound impact on her mother or sister "Kreia", and it lead her down a path of bitterness that in the end culminated in her transformation into Darth Traya.
In this context theory, this adds a different reason as to why Kreia hates Brianna: She is the illegitmate child of her daughter or sister, and the very fact Brianna was born from an affair with Yusanis lead to a chain reaction: Arren was exiled and followed Revan to war after the shame of her birth was revealed, and Kreia had to be punished as well for slightly different reasons, and she followed Arren to war and Kae died, which literally took everything away from Kreia, her valued and loved daughter, (or sister). Thus, Brianna is a bitter reminder to Kreia of the chain of events that lead to Arren's death from Brianna's birth, and it pains and makes Kreia resentful and angry.
Thus, Brianna in this scenario is not Kreia's daughter, but rather her niece or granddaughter that reminds Kreia of the sequential events that lead to Arren's death.
Yes, it is kind of weird that Revan would train under his first teacher's daughter, but it is not entirely out of the realm of impossibility. My theory also assumes still that "Kreia" is not her real name, and that her real name was with the surname Kae and an unknown first name.
TLDR: Despite what evidences would have you believe, Arren Kae was never described as a historian, just a Jedi Master, and she was never stated to be Revan's "first and last teacher", just that she was one of the many teachers Revan had. Kae's body was never recovered because it was destroyed at Malachor V.
I then explained a theory above that if Avellone wants to subvert or invert the theory, he could theoratically make Arren Kae Kreia's daughter or sister. Why would Avellone hold back and want to explore Kreia's connection with Arren Kae in a Star Wars game if theories have well constructed already on how this could work
Anyways, I could be tripping, and totally be making shit up, but it is an interesting thought experiment for me. Now, there is still a chance that Arren Kae could be Kreia, but I would like to hear your thoughts about this. Personally, in realistic terms, based off of the evidence above, it is a 50/50. (Also, sorry for bringing up ANOTHER Arren Kae and Kreia post, I know that there wree discussions on this in the past, but I felt like I wanted to explore this theory with new fresh outlook).

Kotor 2 exploit in android
Hello, I am playing kotor 2 in android. Is there any exploit. I have tried duplicate exploit, and it works. Is there any more exploit that works in android

Both Games Does anyone play the game without a lightsaber, using only a blaster or other types of swords?
I can't imagine playing without lightsabers (especially in the first game), it's so much fun; using the lightsaber is way more fun than blasters. I understand people who play with other types of swords, but come on, wouldn't it have been easier to just play with the saber?

Single hand
So I've been playing kotor 2 for almost a decade now and I decided to do a Jedi counsular light side blaster build and I love how my muse AI told me that for single hand build a blaster rifle counts as a single handed weapon because it's not a weapon in each hand but 1 weapon with 2 hands on it. So I get no duel wielding attack penalty lmfao. Mind is blown!

Casual Quarterstaff Only
I know I know, I’m not playing “optimally.” This is my first time replaying in probably 10 years, and wow is this still an absolute gem. Still feel every emotion that everyone’s first playthrough gives.
Especially treating them now as RPG’s instead of do whatever’s, I’m having a way easier and greater time with this and its sequel.
When done well, I’ve always loved the sandbox that these games are. Much like the dark souls franchise, I can do any absurd thing I want, and still be able to beat the game. The imagination is in fact the only limitation.
I’m so glad so many still adore this game, and give it its due praises.
Especially with varied real world events today. This game gives you a sense of being able to take immediate stands against lifelike injustices. It’s so fascinating that BioWare was willing to give us something that would hit this hard, and give us the reigns to see good in it.
Edit: I did get enough affinity to switch over to Qel Droma robes, I was playing very gray this go around 😅

KOTOR 1 Any% Unrestricted Speedrun World Record | 16:47 by R4NG3
It’s about as good as it gets on Taris and Dantooine. Bleed some time on Kashyyyk to mistakes, Lehon to pixel perfect glitches that are hard, and a few seconds on Malak fight to rng.
May Gluupor and Gengi guide you!

KOTOR 2 - What makes it a better game than KOTOR 1
I've gone back through the threads and seen a few comments around that I've agreed with but there's just something about KOTOR 2 that I love over KOTOR 1
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love KOTOR 1 and the story but I can't tell if its the mystery of KOTOR 2, the doom and gloomness to it but it always pulls me back in. I remember playing it as a child for the first time and even the simple act of getting through Peragus and being absolutely shit scared playing it at night sit fondly in my head.
The writing, Kreia and some of the planets, just a great vibe for me.
Any other KOTOR 2 fans out there that may lean a little more favourbly to the second game?

Darth Nihlus Cosplay Round 2
Out playing a show with my band, Ravager, and I decided to reprise my cosplay as Darth Nihlus like last year. The main difference being I upgraded the costume with a mesh underlay and gloves. I had to cut holes for my eyes and mouth so I can sing and play bass. The gloves don't have tips so I can play my bass easier. Rock on, and may the force be with you all.

Modding I'm at a loss, not sure how to fix.
I don't know why this is happening.
I have:
Installed the UniWS and followed the instructions.
Got the KotOR High Resolution Menus 1.5 and the HD UI Menu Pack 1.1 mods.
Changed my swkotor.ini resolution width and height to the exact numbers for my screen.
Gone to properties and changed the High DPI settings and checked the box for "Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by: Application."
Gone to settings and changed the Scale and Layout to 100%
Activated Windowed mode and it does this in windowed mode as well.
I've tried all this and still it's giving me this issue with parts of the menu and the screen not being aligned.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue?
PS (I'll be going to bed since its pretty late and I've been trying for a few hours , so I won't be able to respond for a few hours, this was my last stop before I just give up on the resolution."
Modding Does anyone here know of any particularly good Kreia impersonators?
Hi, everyone. Really reaching out with a shot in the dark request here.
I’m working on a particularly large KOTOR 2 mod, which adds a new planet. It’s not super far along but much of the story has been written.
It’s been a challenge to make sure it fits the themes of KOTOR 2, and one thing I realized I needed to make sure the planet fits those themes is companion involvement. Companions play a huge role in KOTOR 2, so it would be strange if they were just totally silent in this mod.
While I’ve had some luck scavenging vanilla game voice lines for a few companions, I realized what I really need is a lesson from Kreia. A fairly short dialogue, albeit full of long-winded Kreia lines.
I’d rather not use an AI tool as Plan A. So I thought I’d first at least try and cast someone here as a Kreia impersonator.
If anyone thinks they can replicate her iconic voice, or know someone who can, please either comment here or reach out to me on Discord! My username there is sao1138.

FOTOR I wonder if FOTOR will depict/reference the canon ‘Great Scourge of Malachor’
Obviously the battle of Malachor V was a major event in the original KOTOR games, and new canon’s in-universe equivalent(?) of that event seems to be The Great Scourge of Malachor, which is referenced in Rebels and the Darth Maul comics.
This version of events seemingly differs from the use of the mass shadow generator as outlined in KOTOR 2, and the context seems different as well (it is a major battle between an army of Jedi and an army of Sith rather than Jedi vs Mandalorians).
But that being said, it seems that the canon scourge of Malachor draws heavy inspiration from Malachor V in KOTOR to say the least. With FOTOR seemingly being canon’s first foray into the Old Republic era (assuming the forthcoming KOTOR remakes don’t canonize the events of KOTOR for the new continuity), I wonder if FOTOR will be the piece of Star Wars media that delivers on depicting the details of this event, given that so far all we know about it is other pieces of media building up vague references to tease its significance.
I hope I’m not the only one who finds this possibility intriguing, haha.

Remake What do you guys…
…love about KOTOR?
I remember loving the game when I was still in school. I didn’t play many games, but those did definitely stick. Now as an adult, i bought then again on several devices like iPad and also switch. But somehow… I can’t get myself to play them again.
The good memory is there, but also the memory of reading endless dialogues, too much running around and a stiff combat system…
So I am curious, what do you guys love about the game so much? What did you love in the past, what makes you come back again and again to it even today with so many Game alternatives?

KOTOR 1 First Playthrough; a Moment of Disappointment
Hiya.
Played KOTOR 2 first, funnily enough, and loved it. Now been playing KOTOR 1; done Taris, Dantooine and Tatooine thus far, and lovin' it thus far.
Eeexcept what just happened on Manaan.
So I think about my options, right? Yeah, hangar sounds good, avoid the front door. I make sure to bring Mission with her high Stealth, get her through the Sith Hangar unseen, into the Sith Base unseen, through its hallways unseen - and then the game just FORCES detection in the entrance hall, and even teleports the other party members in there to force a fight. I... what?
That's so lame - but okay. My character has such high Persuade and Dominate Mind, so I'll- nope, doesn't work.
I- fine... uh, I'll at least still avoid the front door for my exit, I guess. ... Or not, because the way I came in is... locked, why is it locked, I got in through here, that-
Ugh. Yeah, okay, game... you want to force the kewl shootout with the baddies in the base and the kewl trial and all, I get it, just...
... just don't do that, game. Don't pretend. Nothing stopped that from working, that should've worked by your own rules, and it was almost so cool and tense. The only reason that didn't work is cinematic railroading. If my choices don't matter and it's all the same, then don't give me choices, dammit.
Like this? I'll just reload, fight everyone in the hangar for the free lightsaber off the Sith Apprentice there, and just run in dick-first. No difference, but more loot.
Anyway, that just made me a little sad. Sigh. Rant over. xD

Kotor 1 - High res textures mismatch
So I got back into Kotor 1 after seeing the new KMRP mod.
I immediately went to go install some high res textures. What I notice straight away is that the Endar Spire has the wrong wall color.
I thought maybe I installed it wrong but when I checked the display photos on the home page of the mod I noticed that actually, it's in the display images. So it shipped like this.
I then noticed that while the Endar Spire had become grey, the Taris Underground was now red in places.
So I went to the home page of the mod and noticed it's in the images as well.
I thought about commenting on the mod's page but I don't know if that's just an abyss I'd be shouting into or if there's an actual person connected to that anymore.
So I thought I'd post here to see if anyone knows about or would want to correct this problem.
My current solution for myself is to uninstall the Taris and Endar Spire high res mods. But I figured the community might want to update them in some way.
Personally, I think they could all just one single pack you drop into the overrides. I debated that it can't be hard to bring the old colors back in an image editor.
Any thoughts? I realize this isn't super important to most people but for me this is a gripe. I lose the nostalgia when the environment doesn't match my memory anymore.

A really weird observation I have to share
Okay, bear with me here, this is a really specific and weird thing i noticed.
So, in KOTOR 1 (and maybe 2, idk if they kept the sound or not) when a Sith soldier dies (the ones with the shiny/full body armor) they make the same noise as the pre chorus to Headstrong by Trapt.
For context:
https://youtu.be/TrSP1uMDxSA?is=NJIzpP17YAL6FeF7
(The sound at the 6 second mark)
https://youtu.be/HTvu1Yr3Ohk?t=34&is=uxBNyFJz31OkZkQK
(The part at the 35 second mark)
This has been on my mind for like 20 years and I haven't shared it with anyone. I know, super weird of me!

KOTOR 2 Starting stats?
Starting a new playthrough. Haven't played in years, got the restored content mod downloaded and this is my first time playing with it. I want to do a Consular/Marauder build. I also want to fully upgrade T3 and the way I play is leave no stone unturned/take everything that's not bolted down. So I don't want to miss out on anything.
I was thinking of doing this stat breakdown but wanted some feedback from the very knowledgeable community!
Str - 10
Dex - 12
Con - 14
Int - 14
Wis - 14
Cha - 14
First feat computer use
Focus on persuade, awareness and repair but put one point in security and demolition for peragus, and then slowly work up computer use as I keep persuade, awareness and repair maxed.
I'm curious for some insight and tips before I get started on this new playthrough!

KOTOR 1 Nihilism in Taris
Started a light side run on Kotor 1 a few days ago and finished Taris today. At some point, by chance I was in my apartment on the uppercity with all of my companions and I wanted to look through the window and onto the skyscrapers when Bastilla's theme started playing (one of my favourite tracks of all time) and I had a sudden realization.....nothing matters. All the quests and the npcs I've helped throughout the past 9 hours or so, the people in the Undercity I helped find their Promised Land, the rakghoul serum I gave to the doctor, the bounties I helped people get rid off, the duelists I fought, especially Marl who was so nice, the Hidden Beks whom I helped....they all die. That's when it hit me, looking at the 23 year old landscape....knowing already what would happen to every npc I encountered

KOTOR 1 Character Planner [BETA]
Hello all, once again!
I decided to make a second post so everyone can see this update. New features have been added, since they seemed quite in demand!
What's new?
Just today I pushed a new live build of my KOTOR 2 character planner, and what might this update be?
We now host a KOTOR 1 character planner as well!
How to use it
- Visit https://roboall93.github.io/kotor2-planner/ as normal
- Use the brand new KOTOR I / KOTOR II tab at the top to swap between the planners
- All your builds are still saved, and you can swap and link between them freely, just like before
Testing wanted!
Just like the KOTOR 2 planner, this one needs testing! Please leave any feedback or bug reports here, or open an issue on my GitHub page. It would be extremely appreciated, and I'll try to get any bugs, or incorrect or missing things, sorted as soon as I can.
Got ideas for other features you'd like on these pages? Let me know!
- RobotWizard
Edit/Update: I have pushed a new update that changes the feat and force-power dropdown list with a custom picker that has a searchable field, and displays icons for powers, greys out ones not available yet with requirements - and in the case of force powers shows current cost based on alignment.
