Swap Meet Saturday Swap Meet Saturday
Welcome to The Swap Meet!
Do you have stuff that needs a new home, do you have a new home that needs stuff? Looking for something specific?
Let's see how this swap meet goes, it's an experiment.
But first, some rules:
* 1 - this is a public space, be mindful of phone numbers, email and location addresses. Assume that if you post a number, expect everyone to call, years from now to ask if it's still available.
* 2 - please report problem buyers or sellers. this is a member to member space but if people are being a problem we need to know. resist the urge to call them out in frank and blunt language in the thread, that's a hot ticket to getting flagged yourself as part of the problem.
* 3 - if it's gone let a mod know if you are having trouble deleting your post yourself. no one likes seeing the exact thing you need but it's from years ago and from a user who hasn't been seen is years. I'll flush it out at the end of the month, if it's still kicking around, repost on the next saturday.
* 4 -posts get posted on saturdays, it's swap meet saturday not swap meet whenever you feel.
* 5 - this is an experiment, if it fails it fails. if it disappears one day so be it.
The idea is this thread IS the swap meet. You have stuff that needs to come or go, you reply on here. I'll sticky it up at the top so it's always here. Provided it's maintained, the whole thread shouldn't be terribly long so, thankfully, no doom scrolling the buy/sell/trade.
so ::cuts ribbon with comically large scissors:: Welcome to Swap Meet Saturday. ::Balloons and Confetti drop::

Importing information, insights and experiences 1998 Nissan Vanette - picked up from Tacoma Port today
New owner of a 1998 Nissan Vanette truck. 70km, manual, overall clean in and out.
Ordered through Mitsui, had them service the truck before shipping - replaced water pump, timing belt, tensioner, oil seals, spark plugs, and fluids (oil change and all).
Needed gas out of the port, drove it from Tacoma to Portland with no issues.
Will be converting this into a mobile coffee truck, stoked on it all.

I thought this truck or van was was cool and you need to see it! Gainesville to Cedar Key FL for Seafood Fest and Porpoise Point St. Aug for a well timed low tide day over the past few weekends in the 1999 TT2 N/A Sambarghini 🚀
Exactly 1 year of ownership and 13,000km of Central FL work and cruising miles later I can’t recommend a Sambar or any Kei model enough

Mechanical and Technical New LED Signals.
Old signal bulbs were pretty much clear from losing their orange coating and half burnt looking, so I got some LED replacements, and man are they an upgrade. Pretty sure they can see these from the ISS lol.

Mechanical and Technical Beware of 1999 Daihatsu Hijet mid-year front coil specification change AND MiniTruckUSA poor customer support
Need new front coils for my s200p. MiniTruckUSA jumped in an said they had the solution without any questions. They sent me 6.8cm ID springs but I need 8.0cm springs which is apparently the difference of the mid-year upgrade. Well this incredibly inconsiderate vendor said that I could pay for return AND restocking fee as if it was my fault. Buyer beware!!!!

Mechanical and Technical Questions on my Van
Looking for some advice or insight any of you guys have!
Currently the van is running great and going to be making it into a micro camper! I will be posting videos and photos when its done.
But have some issues I want to get resolved before they get any worse if they do.
Vehicle: 2000 Suzuki Every Wagon Joypop Turbo 4x4
It's a manual and EFI with a F6A.
I have two issues at the moment:
- The horn & foglights aren't working -
The horn clicks when pressing the steering wheel but no honk, I dont believe anything is going to the horns, I dont get any voltage. Same with the fog lights, I think they run off the same wire.
- My gas tank when I open it has a vacuum to it, like sucking in air when I have the car on for a bit. I haven't driven the car much but I open the tank to see if it still does and it still pulls in air. It smells like gas too around the vehicle and I think might be running a little rich. The vehicle isn't idling hard but a little rougher than a normal American vehicle. I can slightly see vibration in the steering wheel at idle.
I also put in a new radio that came with a backup camera I really want to use but dont know the best way of either running the wire to the back or wireless for the back up camera too so if anyone has done that before too, any information helps.
Any thoughts or ideas to triage or fix would be greatly helpful!

Mechanical and Technical New S110P Alternator
A friend did the research and now I’ve done the installation and testing. He nailed finding a replacement 70 amp alternator on Amazon for the S110P. It didn’t even need clocking, just a pulley change.
Two points, disconnect the ring terminal at the plug easily accessible just above the valve cover. Clean the contacts really well. I used a bit of sandpaper and electrical contact cleaner.
Second, you will need the spacer behind the original pulley. Carefully remove it DO NOT SMACK the stud against the table to get it off if you plan on keeping the original. It jams it into the rear. I’m going to have this one rebuilt anyway but it’s not a good idea. Lesson learned.

Kei Van Life Just gave up on "maximum security" bed covers
I've stopped expecting a bed cover to keep everything completely secure. I'd rather have something that's easy to use and doesn't become a headache if the electronics stop working. With kei trucks, you still need the bed for hauling, so losing easy access kind of defeats the point.
Kei truck owners, what do you use to keep your cargo secure without making the bed harder to use? I've been wondering whether a simple manual cover or a lockable canopy makes more sense for everyday hauling.

Good news! Has anyone here found a reliable way to get info on your kei trucks pre-export?
I really want to order a custom showplate for my sambar but with the original lisence plate numbers it would have ran in japan. Problem is i have no info on the car except for the vin number

Good news! Paint is done! Full Transformation
Paint is finally done! Did a full custom paint change both interior and exterior. During the entire process we addressed body work needs, sound deadening in the cab, new body seals, rust treatment, and black Rhino liner under the frame.
Couple more things to do but otherwise this 32 year old truck is almost brand new again!

Mechanical and Technical Finally did some maintenance items
Plugs, wires, cap fuel lines and fuel filter. Felt rattling in my fuel filter so I decided to do some surgery. Some "rat turd" looking bits . . Gross! 66km (41k miles)
Ganna call "Toy Box" in Austin tomorrow to see about the cost of timing belt and water pump replacement. Have the kits just don't want to do it.

Mechanical and Technical Sambar cosmetic damage tips?
Bought a 99 sambar from a farmer and want to repair the cosmetic damages it sustained. Is this just cracked paint or something worse...? Never owned any truck before, kei or otherwise, and have not done this kind of work on a car before.
