Discussion How come so many Uechi guys cross train in 5 Ancestors Fist instead of Huzunquan?

title.

Is it an accessibility thing?

For those that don't know, Uechi Ryu and Huzunquan are directly related styles of karate and kung fu. Huzunquan was actually only formulated around the time that Kanbun Uechi actually landed in Fuzhou, so it is contemporaneous with the formulation on 5 ancestors fist as well.

Anyway, Id have thought more Uechi guys would cross train in it.

Discussion Why i dont feel like im learning to fight?

I mean im still a red belt in shotokan but i feel like im not getting tougher or learning to fight... we do some hits in the air and some katas but almost no kumite

Also the kumite feels like is just for competition cuz no one fights jumping and making a hit just before retreating... i want to learn real karate and not olympic karate
