This is a great halloween time show and one of the main characters is a John!

Welcome to this week's official John of the Week poll! Every seven days, the council of Johns gathers to elevate one outstanding John to greatness.

Calling all Johns, it’s time for the first official r/john Movie Night!

We’re gathering to watch a film that honors the namesake. To qualify, a movie must meet at least one of the strict John criteria:

• 🏷️ Title: Features "John" right in the title (John Wick, Being John Malkovich, John Q, Dear John, etc.)
• 👤 Character: Stars an iconic character named John (Die Hard's John McClane, Terminator's John Connor, Rambo's John Rambo)
• 🎬 Creator: Directed by, written by, or starring a legendary John (John Carpenter, John Cusack, John Wayne, John Cena)
• 📜 History: Centers around a historical figure named John (John Adams, John F. Kennedy)

🗳️ How We’re Choosing What to Watch:

Check the poll pinned at the top of the subreddit. (or linked in the pinned comment below) to cast your vote! We’ve selected a mix of action, comedy, cult classics, and drama.

📅 Event Details:

• Date & Time: at 10/18/2026 @ 12amEST

May the best John win.

Fellow Johns and honorary observers of the Council,

After countless hours of deliberation, I have officially added a fresh batch of user flairs to the sub.

Whether you're a strict four-letter purist, a resilient Jon holding down the fort, or just here for the Johnly energy, it's time to represent.

How to equip yours:

1. Head over to the r/john main page.
2. Click the three dots (...) in the top right corner (desktop sidebar).
3. Select "Change user flair" and pick your badge of honor.

Drop a comment below once you've got yours locked in. Let's see who's reppin' what!

Johnly Yours,

-John

We shall not deny our lesser brethren, the Jons, their glimpses of true Johnlyness... but let's be honest: taking away the 'H' just feels like leaving off the roof of a house.

To all the fellow Johns holding down the standard four-letter spelling across the globe: keep keeping it real.

What's your official stance on letting Jons join the council? Full membership, or honorary observer status?

Happy Birthday John: https://youtu.be/y5lpXueC4uA

Hope you become a (papa) John one day
