Discussion Why is jayce jungle considered weak?

Title. Im going to add him to my roster for flex, but im kind of worried about if that would be a bad longer term decision as i have to learn him.

Discussion If Jayce is really that much of a good champion—and he’s supposedly "pro-jailed"—why do players at the Master+ rank only have a 48% win rate with him?

Does this mean that even if I’m in the top 1% of the server, I’ll lose more often than I win when playing Jayce? If so, why bother playing him at all?

And please, this isn’t an attack on Jayce players; I just want to understand how worthwhile it is to play this champion if—even if I were in the top 1%—I would still lose far more often than I’d win.

And why, knowing this, do you still choose to play him?

Discussion How to learn Jayce outside of the Top Lane?

I created an account to play normal games as Jayce.

The algorithm quickly adjusted my MMR (around Plat+), and I started getting matched into extremely difficult games in the top lane.

Every single match, I’m up against either a Diamond+ player or someone with 1 million mastery points; it’s an absolute nightmare playing Jayce top. Against characters like Irelia, Riven, Fiora, they can just force fights whanever they want and i can't disengage. He’s already a difficult champion to begin with, and on top of that, I’m forced to just sit there and watch my lane get frozen for 10 minutes straight.

Should I switch to playing Jayce in the mid lane or the jungle? I really like the character, but playing him in the top lane has become a living hell.

Help How do you decide which runes to take on Jayce top?

Hello. I recently started playing Jayce top, and I'm trying to understand how to choose the right runes depending on the matchup.

Are there any general rules of thumb you guys follow?

i'm not really looking to just copy rune pages from websites. I'd like to understand why certain runes are better in specific matchups.

i will take any advice thank you.

Discussion Emerald Support Player, Top secondary. I want to learn how to play Jayce, but the number of games people say are required to master him discourages me.

I’ve played a few matches with him, but people keep saying you need hundreds of games just to learn the basics. I really like the character, but the way people talk about him is incredibly discouraging.

I've watched Mysterias midlane guide and he says that you need around 2000+ games to master him, bro i don't have 2000 matches in my last 10 years lol. I can only play around 5 matches per week.

I really like the character, but the level that’s supposedly required for them makes me want to give up on the character. How do you deal with the first 50 matches?

Discussion How to deal with Olaf?

What can I do differently to win against Olaf

Whenever I play vs Olaf I feel like it's up to the Olaf to lose rather than the Jayce to win.

If the Olaf is good he just forces you to fight him level 1 to lose a bunch of hp to get the first XP. Stormraider's + Nimbus makes it so that he can chase you down.

Usually he can free crash wave 3 or wave 4 for a free base, where he will have an item advantage that makes him win the 1v1 + keep you stuck in lane unless your Jungler helps you, but if you try to fight him to make him stop the early recall he can usually poke you down and then just kill you later due to his guaranteed damage with ignite and E.

I am also split about the first item choice, Youmuus is good because of the early dirk and movespeed active but with voltaic you have more damage and a better chance to 1v1 him, I also tried serpents if enemy team had a lot of shields but in the games where I tried that I was always ahead.

Is the best way to beat Olaf to just Farm until after first back and with dirk and boots and hope that he doesn't hit Q's while taking your Q + E to the face multiple times while also allowing you to regen mana back with melee auto attacks?

If anyone has any special tips I appreciate it

Discussion Why?

Why do I feel like I do so much more damage on jungle jayce than top lane jayce? Almost the same build except I dont go muramana when playing jungle, surely red smite and first strike doesn't do that big of a difference? Like when I e+q enemy squishy I blow up atleast half of their hp bars when playing jungle and noway near as much as top laner, heavily leaning towards just playing him jungle since he is easier to pilot in that role anyway since u get to skip laning

Discussion When will Arcane Survivor Jayce be available for purchase?

Honestly guys, Jayce has been my favourite champion so far in League. However, lately I have been so focused on Arcane Survivor Jayce and the skin looks amazing. I bought some RP and I am saving them just for this skin. Anyone knows when it might be back?

Help Returning to League and Jayce

Hey guys I'm not really new to Jayce but I just started playing league again (last time I played was like season 6 I think) and I mained adc but I used to play a lot of Jayce too (back then I mainly played mid Jayce) I've now been playing him mostly top because some of the match ups mid just sort of feel bad I guess. Right now in ranked I mostly play adc (I'm low plat) only been playing for like two months since I came back (like around 150 ranked game I think)

So who originally got me into play Jayce was "NaraKyle" the Korean Jayce player (he still uploads but its auto translated and not mainly Jayce centered content) and back then the build was very different than it is today.

I've watched a good amount of Jayce YouTube content (HammerKim, Coach Chippys and others) and it has been helpful for knowing sort of what runes you can go but not exactly for every match up. My issue is that not a lot of it is current/recent or is auto translated so sometimes it can be hard to know exactly what they mean. I know its like a meme that NA and EU players can't play Jayce correctly but are there any high level Jayce players that make content that I should be watching for more insight like on specific match ups trading in lane etc that upload currently and speak English. Also are there any good like written guides I used to use like mobafire back in the day and that felt easier than watching videos to find out things about like match ups or items.

What are you guys building? It seems like most people don't go black cleaver except for rare and very specific reasons and a lot of the old guides talk about going eclipse but it never seems very good and I think they might have changed it like removed movement speed from it or something. What I mostly see is Ghostblade > Manamune > Choice of boots (never see people go omnivamp boots for some reason) > maybe another lethality item > Serylda's > then maybe a defensive item and then the more rare bruiser build with like black cleaver and shojin.

So I'm just gonna list some items and my thoughts and tell me what you think

Hubris : Why isn't this more common I feel like it has everything you want and is kind of like AD mejais but you don't lose stacks.

LDR/MR : Isn't LDR just better than Serylda's into very tanky teams especially if you are able to auto in fights

Endless Hunger : Seems like it would be good 5th or 6th as it gives a lot that Jayce wants and gives some sustain that Jayce lacks

Death's Dance : Good into burst/full ad teams?

Voltaic Cylcosword : This item seems good on paper but it never seems like it does much for me when I get it

Bastion Breaker: This seems good because of the stats and passives but I never know when to get it and I feel like I end up purchasing it too late. Maybe someone could explain to me better how this item works.

Spear of Shojin : I only really go this into super tanky match ups when I'm building more bruiser items with Black Cleaver first. Can someone explain why this is good? I understand it increases the ability and passive damage but even on bruiser I feel like the fights don't last super long to get full value from it

Then there's some specific match ups I end up struggling with so could you guys give some tips and maybe what runes to go or items that make sense in the match up

Darius : sometimes goes fine, but I feel like if he runs ghost or goes damage I kind of struggle some games or if I get ganked like level 3 and die to him I feel homeless. Been going Phase Rush because I don't think you can really take long fights with him due to the bleed.

Gangplank : Sometimes I feel like I can win if I time autos right on the barrels and play smart but if they are decent and can triple barrel they just shove me in and barrel me under tower. Tried Conq and Phase Rush. Conq feels better if they aren't great at GP but if they are Phase Rush feels better.

Dr. Mundo : If i don't kill him early I feel like it is impossible to stop him. Not sure what Rune to run I've tried Conq, Phase Rush, and Grasp.

Olaf : hit or miss tbh not sure what to do if I get ganked like level 3 and then he starts proxying. usually go Phase Rush to try to dodge axes.

Heimerdinger: I thought this would be much easier but I feel like if I Q the turrets I run out of mana and if I auto them I lose hp and then can't trade. I haven't played this match up a lot but I was going Phase Rush maybe Electrocute would be better here?

Malphite: Easier with Black Cleaver and bruiser build at least thats what it feels like. I usually go Conq or Grasp

Tahm Kench: Rare, but I can usually kill him early or get a good cs lead and then at closer to 20 minutes he can just fight me easily I've tried both Phase rush and Conq.

Yorick: I know this is historically one of Jayce's hardest match ups. Usually run Grasp or Phase Rush

Sett: sometimes this feels easy other times his Grit thing feels like he counters my burst should I just be doing shorter trades with autos? I feel like if I just auto he just sustains back up without me really ever having kill pressure then. I've tried both Phase rush and Conq but not sure which feels better

Garen: Easy but have to keep autoing so he doesn't just heal back up

Kled: Feel like I either win super hard or lose super hard. I've been going conq.

Ksante : I barely know what he does tbh, but if I misplay I just lose hard. I've been going grasp - maybe Phase rush is better to dodge the knockup/pull into him

Urgot: This one feels like it should be easier but feels really hard sometimes. I run grasp or phase rush.

Thank you to anyone who spends the time answering any of these questions or providing a bit of help! <3

Discussion I just play Jayce jg but every single time I go autofill mid and I play Jayce I win the game lol

Mid is just extremely OP compared to jungle for the fact that you have waves and waves just for you for free + having ignite, every time I'm going autofill even without knowing a single matchup (and usually losing lane btw) my press is so big that I'm winning all games when that happens, I just push my lane and walk with sup or jg going for kills, pathetically easy compared to jg

Help How do I play Jayce in team fights?

Hi how do I play Jayce in teamfights? I notice I tend to play really conservatively, looking for good angles on my QE, and then going into hammer when I think a full melee rotation will end in a kill. This works when it works but other times I feel like maybe I’m not maximizing my damage..

Then at the same time, if I try to get closer to weave in some autos, especially if my QE missed or didn’t do that much damage, I end up sacrificing my positioning and it just feels like my damage output becomes too weak.

I’m peak gold 1 so I find it hard to know who to trust (including my own calls) as I learn more about the game.

Jayce feels like someone who I want to play really conservatively with unless it’s really obvious that my damage will turn a fight in our favor but I think about my role as a top laner and how to help my teammates if I’m not the win con especially late game.

Would love to hear any insights tips and advice you have to give! 🙏

Help Need Jayce Fundies

Hello! I'm a mostly skirmisher-only player (Fiora, Ambessa, Gwen) who has been trying to pick up Jayce for a while, but he feels like the least intuitive out of any champion I've tried to properly learn. I'm here to ask a few questions for fundamental concepts that might make the process more bearable, and at least have some goals in mind through all the lanes I'm getting statchecked to death in (Aatrox, Shen, TK, Poppy, Morde, etc).

  1. What are some crucial power spikes for Jayce? Like, his level 1 for example doesn't feel too strong to me, but I don't know if I should prep for level 2 trades, level 3, or just chill out until getting a dirk or a longsword or something.

  2. When is generally a good time to Q E? The mana investment is pretty severe early on, so I assume I'm underusing the ranged Q on its own and overusing it with E, which if missed lands me in a pretty bad spot.

  3. Should I aim for a general gold benchmark before first recall? I'm used to recalling early on my other champions for a 400 ish gold component, but just getting either tear or a longsword on Jayce feels pretty weird.

If there's any other thing that you all would consider some sort of fundamental/basics please tell me about them. Thank you all in advance.
