It is with very heavy hearts that my husband and I have made the difficult decision to rehome our two beloved Italian Greyhounds, Gio and Tira.

Gio and Tira are a bonded pair who love each other, and our greatest wish is for them to find a wonderful home together. Their breeder has assured us that she will do her best to keep them together in their forever home.

🐾 Meet Gio & Tira

● Gio is our handsome dark gray boy.
● Tira is our beautiful fawn-colored girl.
● Birthday: March 15, 2025.
● Health: Both are in excellent health, with all vaccinations current.
● Veterinary care: Both have been neutered/spayed.
● Registration: Both are eligible for AKC registration and have been microchipped.

We brought Gio and Tira home from their original breeder, Anita Anderson, in May 2025. They have been a very special part of our family, and this decision has been incredibly difficult for us. We love them dearly, and we want to do everything we can to help them find the right next chapter.

They are still young Italian Greyhounds with plenty of energy and enthusiasm for life. Anyone familiar with this wonderful breed knows how affectionate, playful, sensitive, and full of personality they can be! They embody the name Velcro dogs.

Interested in giving Gio and Tira a loving forever home?

Please contact their original breeder directly. Anita is handling their placement and will provide additional information to interested, qualified adopters.

Our greatest hope is that these two sweet dogs can stay together and continue sharing their lives with a family with a fenced yard who will cherish them both. If you are not in a position to adopt, we would be grateful if you would share this post with someone who might be.

Thank you for helping us find the best possible future for Gio and Tira. ❤️

Miscellaneous Questions How long is too long for a long girl?

Sup gang. This is my resident gargoyle Iggy. She is 8 months old, 6.2kg (13.6Ibs). She is only 40cm from base of neck to base of tail, but looooooord does she feel long. Everyone that sees her remarks on her torso length. I always have to size up her onesie sizes because she is so loooooong.

My question is: IS she actually long for an iggy? Or is she actually rather standard for her age and weight? Thanks in advance and also please show me your long gargoyles iggies.

PS. I love how her back legs are shaped like a wish bone. Sighthounds are so goddamn weird and I love them.

Iggy Clothes, Collars and Harnesses Highly recommend surgery onesies!

My pup was spayed yesterday. She’s my second Iggy and cones are so strange on their long necks. I also don’t like that it prevents them from seeing their legs. Got some surgery onesies and love them. She sleeps with a cone and onesie at night so she can’t spend those hours trying to chew anything while I’m asleep. But onesies during the day make her feel more normal, can go potty with them, and won’t pay attention to the incision.

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I try to keep this grasshopper calm for the next few days. 😂

Breeder/Rescue / Adoption Struggling to find a rescue

Hello, I am currently looking to adopt an iggy through rescuing but i'm struggling to find any to adopt. :(

I have put in an application to my local IGRF (waiting to hear back) but I know that they only get so many dogs so I've also been trying to find rescues outside of that. Does anyone know a good place outside of the IGRF where one could rescue an iggy? How did you find your rescue?

I am currently located in North Carolina, but I am willing to travel.

Breeder/Rescue / Adoption Adopting a nervous iggy

Hey all,
I've recently joined this group as I'm adopting a 6 year old iggy soon. She'll be a companion for my very sweet and loving whippet boy who absolutely loves iggys (all sighthounds tbh, they really do know their own kind).

The only thing is, I've been told she's VERY nervous of people. I'd love to know what steps people took to build confidence in their iggys. I'll be a total stranger to her - I've read through a lot of guidance online but I'd really love breed experts (like yourselves) to help me.

My whippet is very confident so this I want to ensure we're adapting to her needs and giving her space where needed, but I'd love any advice!

Miscellaneous Questions Lazy in pajamas…too lazy?

Hello! I’m curious if anyone has some insight. My 4 year old Iggy is energetic and needs to be in my business 24/7. If I’m sitting and he isn’t there, it’s very weird!
I’ll put his PJs on every how and then (classic fleece Dinosaur jammies) if it’s chilly in the house and he will go completely still. Sometimes needs some encouragement to lay down and get comfortable but not always. He’ll stand and re adjust, or go get water so I’m not concerned for his mobility.
His personality will completely change from high energy to a total rag doll and he will stay in one place laying down for hours, even if I’m across the room.
I just want to make sure I’m not accidentally abusing him! He’s not shaking or whimpering or showing any signs of distress. Does anyone’s Iggy do this? Is there something I should keep an eye on to make sure he’s comfortable?

TLDR; my energetic and nosy dog goes completely lazy bones when he’s wearing PJs, is this normal?

Miscellaneous Questions Positive Puppy Stories

I’ve seen so much negativity about potty training and nighttime sleep in this space.

Can we use this post to share positive stories and outcomes about potty training, crate training, and sleeping through the night independently?

It’s quite hard as a new puppy owner to hear stories about people waking up every four hours for 15+ years because “it’s the breed" or "iggys are not normal dogs".

I’d love to use this post to debunk some of these negative stories, which somehow seem to stick more than the positive ones...

What an adorable doofus…she genuinely looks like a Pixar character to me. This is her at the vet (she wasn’t even the patient, her sister was), but she is taking things quite seriously on Stella’s behalf.

Miscellaneous Questions How likely is an Italian Greyhound puppy to break a leg in a first‑floor apartment?

Hi everyone — I’m getting an Italian Greyhound puppy soon and I’m trying to understand the realistic risk of leg fractures. I’ve seen a lot of photos online of IGs in casts, and it’s making me nervous.

Here’s my setup:
• First‑floor apartment
• No stairs anywhere near the living space
• Couch is 18 inches high
• Bed is 28 inches high (she won’t be sleeping in it)
• Only one other dog (small maltipoo)
• Planning to crate train
• Planning to get pet insurance
• Very committed to supervising her and puppy‑proofing

For owners who have IGs:
• How likely are fractures in a home like this?
• Has anyone raised an IG puppy without any breaks?
• What precautions actually make a difference?

I’m not looking for fear‑mongering — just real experiences from people who’ve lived with the breed. Thank you.
