From a Mod: Music producers take note to please use [listen] in any music submission post title

We have been getting a lot of folks stuck at home producing music, sometimes on iPads, iPhones or other mobile platforms. But sometimes not, or at least it appears that way - they just use Logic or whatever computer based DAW they have and are spamming multiple music related subreddits.

In order to keep this forum focused on mobile music production I would ask any Redditor who wants a participant of this subreddit to listen to their creation to put [Listen] in the post title. So if you are asking folks to visit your SoundCloud, YouTube channel or some other place to show off your music, tag it with [Listen].

But don't stop there. Come into the comments and tell us all what apps you used to produce the music so we can all learn.

If you do not do this, the mods may remove your post as spam. This is because some submissions that really are spam the submitter either ignores the request for adding details to the comments or doesn't know how to answer it!

Also, feel free to report posts that seem to violate the spirit of our little sub. Spam and other reports are acted on very quickly and help keep things focused and clean.

edit: finally, the automoderator isn't perfect, though it is pretty darn good now. If you have followed the rules and used [listen] and it still pulled it, please message the mods and we'll approve it.

Harsher stance on Generative AI content.

We're fairly lenient here on self promotion. But the vibecoded sites and apps are getting out of hand. Countless low effort products are getting posted looking to exploit the user base for some sales. This is to announce that such posts are not welcome here.

This is now mentioned in the sidebar and rules, and such posts can be reported.

Just wanted to let you all know that Sessions Nano, previously available for iPhone and iPad, is now available for Mac.

If you've not heard of Sessions Nano, it's a small and efficient audio mixer and plug-in host. By stripping away complexity and getting back to basics, Sessions Nano provides a simple, intuitive environment that helps maintain a clear focus on being creative.

Neatly organised in a visual, uncluttered design, everything you need to make music is right in front of you - mixing live audio, adding effects, playing virtual instruments, hosting MIDI sequencers and generators, playing backing tracks, recording your performances and more.

Sessions Nano is available with a free 3-day trial and a single $9.99 purchase unlocks all features across all three platforms for life. Existing Session Nano customers can download the Mac app, for free, from the Mac App Store.

As with all our apps, Sessions Nano was developed entirely in-house by us - not AI - so we know the code inside out 😄

Learn more on the Sessions Nano website or get the free trial from the App Store.

Korg Gadget IOS - Bilbao, a probable bug?

I noticed a problem with Bilbao for iOS. When I import a program, it adds it instead of replacing the existing one! Also, if I want to delete it with "swipe-delete," do I have to do it one at a time? Isn't there a way to delete all the programs without having to delete Korg Gadget 3 and reinstall it? Thanks.

Rymdigare is so damn cool!

I'm pretty new to iOS music making, but plugging in my guitar and running it into Rymndigare is such a wonderful way to waste time. The sounds are varied but always magical. The modulation potentials are out of this world and the absolute best thing is the UI. Such a beautifully made app. Probably my favorite effect app I have found. If anybody has any suggestions of apps that are similar, sonically or visually I would be very interested. Thanks

Midi from macOS to iPad not longer working via USB-C

Stumbled upon the following roadblock:

Connected iPad 16 A running 26.6 & a macbook air m1 running macos 15.8.1. via USB-C.

I can get audio via USB-C to working, but MIDI is not sending any data from Mac to iPad, although the ports appear in Ableton live.

Trust is confirmed on both devices. audio/midi connection is confirmed in the audio/midi app.

Trying to edit the midi-device, crashes the audio midi app. Tried different cables (which transport data)

any pointers are much appreciated

Mpc live 3 + iPad is glorious

Post image

Got myself a live 3 for my birthday after having the 1 since covid started and kept thinking man… this thing is so gifted as a standalone system but it’s just lacking in certain sounds. Orchestral in particular sounds lame autosampled. Got to tinkering with usb C and realized… I can just use my iPad as a soundbox.

It’s pretty crazy. One cable and any auv3 I want is both controlled as a midi track and sent as an audio track to mpc. Aum sees all 24 inputs on the mpc, I don’t even sync the clock I just use it as a mixer. I’m sketching video game music on the couch, running Iconica flutes and harps into the mpc, bouncing audio from mpc fabric synth into iOS granulator plugins and back all digital. Hopefully I have a video to share with some tunes soon but this is a nice workflow.

What apps should I try for making music?

I know GarageBand is free, idk how I feel about it. are there any other free alternatives I can try? any free trials of paid software I can try?

I dont want any monthly subscriptions if I can avoid it. unless it’s included in apple one which I already have lol.

I have ordered and am waiting for a Korg microKEY Air 25-Key Wireless MIDI Controller that should arrive today, and plan on using my airpods for vocals, if that makes a difference in recommendations.

Let’s help people build their perfect Aum template. Of course it’s going to vary for the type of project, personal workflow, etc. But I thought it would be useful to hear some Aum users templates and ideas for templates.

New ijo audio plugin, Undersong (AUv3, M4l)

New ijo audio plugin, Undersong is one of the most interesting FX releases I’ve come across in a while. Although it’s an effect app, it works more like an instrument, generating notes and melodies in response to incoming audio.

Available as an AUv3 for iPad and iPhone and as a Max4Live device too.
