That man is the most Canadian man I have ever seen
Get reeeit ouutta town
•
u/Srimnac 2h ago
I’m not here to say his accent is neither real nor fake, but what I can say is it is exaggerated.
•
u/HistoricalChef1963 31m ago
Yeah man, real but exaggerated for sure. If I wanted to put it on, I could sound exactly like this.. and sometimes I do like in some kinda natural, primitive state.
But mostly I sound normal.

he would've added tomato juice to that beer if he were Canadian i reckon
•

Clamato juice

u/wegqg 1h ago
It's a guilty pleasure.. I do think it tastes superior to a regular bloody Mary but then I remember I'm drinking squished clams in tomato sauce mixed with vodka and it makes me want to projectile vomit.. so I try not to think about it..

With fucking celery in it and topped off with pepper, if my hazy memory serves. I just don’t see how that became a thing.

I don't believe the guy used the right kind of beer to poke it with, you usually wanna something with a lot of malt like a bock or doppelbock, your porters and stouts as well. The spiking does what he says at it caramelizes the residual sugars to give it a toasted marshmallow flavor.
My local favorite bar does a bockfest around February every year. They recommend you bring your own glassware/stein otherwise you just get a red solo cup and one bad spike and your beer is on the ground.
•
u/markrockwell 1h ago
You’ve gotta be a pro to spike the Solo cup!
High risk. Moderate to low reward.

Wouldn't it also burn the alcohol up?
•
•
u/asdf_lord 2h ago
Yes in the same ratio as the alcohol to water. Since the volume changes imperceptibly so would the alcohol.
•
u/SoulMute 2h ago
I don’t think that’s right. Alcohol boils at a significantly lower temperature than water, so the alcohol would disproportionately evaporate.
•
u/asdf_lord 2h ago
Alcohol distribution matters more than boiling point. There is only a few percentages of alcohol which are evenly distributed, the hot rod is indiscriminate and most of the alcohol that evaporates might even recondense.
•
•
u/ImaginarySofty 2h ago
Alcohol would not leave the same ratio to water

It would still be barely any with that poker and less than you'd think in general.

u/Doctor_Saved 2h ago
Does it actually work?
•
u/Solid_Snark 2h ago
I googled it snd there are Reddit posts from 6-years ago talking about this.
The consensus is, yeah, it’s true.
•
u/Hyjennaist86 2h ago
As a western Canadian, I’ve yet to meet another Canadian that actually sounds like that 😅

What do people from Winnipeg and Thunder Bay sound like. This guy seems to have a heavy Minnesotan type accent.
•
u/WatchOutForWizards 2h ago
Lived in Edmonton for 20 years. They exist but usually when they sound like that they're intentionally exaggerating it.

u/ThatPie2109 2h ago
When the song out for a rip came out, every young white guy in my area of rural B.C lost his mind and starting wearing flannels and talking about smoking darts lol.

But does it taste like burnt marshmallow
Cause that has a distinctive taste, perhaps not the best taste

Some weird beer guys will give you some BS about how it heats up the beer neutrons to accelerate your tongues taste response but in reality it's all performative hipster shit

The most unbelievable part of this is that he had a conversation on a plane in 2026. I miss that. Now everyone is locked into iPads and headphones.

I don't mind a warm Newcastle. I wonder if it would be any good with this method?

Went to an event to try this last year. Meh. I loved the beer. Then they poked it. It was fine, different for sure, but not better. I hung out because the event was cool, but didn't get my additional beers repoked.
I agree that it smells of marshmallow, but the foam also had a metallic smell from the poker. No thanks.

Bierstacheln... not for all beers, but for mildly hopped full bodied brews it can be a nice twist. I don't think that the poker is hot enough, though.

There is the "first beer-hotel" in germany which offers, alongside 100+ different beers, a "gestacheltes Honigbier". It's a honey-infused beer which is treated the same way as the beer in the Video. It is amazing! Place is called Gut Riedelsbach.

Are you aware most of your kitchen utensils are made of metal?
•
u/toodlesandpoodles 2h ago
Let me know when your kitchen utensil are coming straight out of a fire, covered in soot, at a high enough temperature to drive the reactions that create PAHs from alkanes.

This man hasn’t had a beer. Maybe that pissy swill. Nobody with a good beer would do this. Smoke it properly if that’s your flavour.

Any particular type of metal?

I have indeed tried this at a local brewery. They did it to my bock. I would never do it again after trying it. It makes your beer extra hot and gross.
