Easy Company paratrooper Forrest Guth at the Marmion Farm in Normandy in June 1944. 65 years later, Guth posed again with his captured German helmet as he did in 1944.

Here is his "A Band of Brothers" page.

Sergeant, one of the 140 original members of the Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment in the 101st Airborne Division, liberator of my hometown Eindhoven. Band of Brothers.

Here is a higher-quality and less-cropped version of the first image. Here is the source.

I photographed this picture from my copy of Forrest Guth's book "The Way We Were" and I am only using it for the purpose of a Then and Now comparison.

This is the famous photograph of Forrest Guth at the Marmion France in Normandy. Guth was mis-dropped near Ravenoville along with his buddies from 3rd platoon. They linked up and made their way to the Marmion Farm before the could find their way to their Company. Gut took many photographs here from the camera that he, against orders, took into combat.

Take a look at the next picture of a modern day view of this picture.

Here is this location via Google Street View.

His name is so close to Forest Gump he must have been the inspiration behind the name Forest Gump. Or it's a coincidence.

65 years passed, the world changed around him, but the memories and the spirit remained untouched under the exact same helmet

Looks like there was a book written about his trip back:

“Were you a hero in the war?”

“No, but I served in company of hero’s”

Autocorrect 🤷‍♂️

It did that because you type like that regularly. Stop adding possessive “s” onto your plurals.
