NATURE Floating in some very deep-looking saltwater

Just waiting for the leviathan to wrap around him and drag him down.

that's the best part of lying in that saltwater. Nothing thrives in it.

Until it does

They wouldn't be calling it dead sea now then.

u/Mobile-Bar7732 15h ago
microscopic life lives in the Dead Sea, including specific types of salt-tolerant bacteria, archaea (such as Haloferax volcanii), and single-celled algae like Dunaliella.
Until these little guys mutant to much larger versions...

Also if you notice, because the high amount of salt it makes the water especially buoyant so things can get in the water and float without having to swim as you can see the man doin

Yeah dude... Subnautica really fucked me up with any water deeper than my toilet bowl.

Right?? Like if I can’t see the bottom and all the sides I’m not going in.

u/cuterosalie 19h ago
can’t be dragged down in water that salty. you can still drown in it though, face down and unable to roll back over

Thats like 70 percent salt 30 percent water. Instant dehydration type shit

My left foot so needs it. So annoyed

For realizies. Pour and stir salt into water in a container until the salt starts piling up on the bottom. Once the water is at the saturation point, soak your hands or feet until they become pruney. Repeat for a few days until the cluster falls out of the socket.

It's nice seeing him float on the water. My thalassophobia just kicked in when I realized how deep it is

It must be so salty and dense that all he can do is float. Looks fun! I’d be wearing goggles though 🥽

I know that water is far too salty for complex life. Still utterly terrifying.

No anxiety whatsoever of some random ass creature reaching up for you, huh? Must be nice 😅

I wonder if itd be easier to learn to swim in water like this

u/Putinsuckedmeoff 13h ago
You get completly fucked if you get it in your eye or sallow the water. Wouldn“t recommend.

Where is this place? Looks like the middle of nowhere…

No, this isn't the middle of nowhere - that's where Courage the Cowardly Dog lives. This has got to be somewhere else.

That'll be a fuck no! from me anyway
7
u/KalozKapitany 19h ago
I you can swim it's no different from a shallow pool
8
u/Can-You-Fly-Bobby 19h ago
Oh i get that. And I'm guessing you don't even need to be able to swim given the amount of salt in that water.
But that's no shallow pool! r/thalassophobia

Fun to float on but probably feels terrible on your skin. Tight and raisin-y as soon as he gets out 😬

Man I bet that feels so good on the bones. I would love to feel fully suspended like that, going against gravity.

u/BilboBaginsehs 15h ago
And every scrape, scratch, and opening will BURN.
This looks.. not so fun to me

it reminds me a lot of Yellowstone’s morning glory pool… I was very concerned about the temperature and if he would start screaming when he went in, then I realized it was a normal temperature and not a hot spring

Criminal that Ashcroft got sued by Stones lawyers (seriously, motherfuck the Rolling Stones Legal Team) over a fucking sample and lost all their royalties for a while. That entire saga is just so emblematic of why the music industry is kryptonite for actual creatives.

So the story behind this is that the water is so saturated with salt that it is extremely dense and makes it almost impossible sink in. Almost.
