Just wanted to say that this guy has a youtube as of late. He only has like 10 subs and not that many vods (started posting 4 weeks ago), but I think it's cool seeing who is probably the best illaoi post content! Not even sure if this post is allowed, but fuck it.

Hi, I'm high elo jungler that plays Illaoil on top as 2nd role. Of course I'm usually against other autofills but I think playing vs mages or adc is worse than meta tops.
My setup is Fleet, exhaust almost every game(maybe conq against juggernauts) and build is Cleaver>Sterak>Endless Hunger>tank item. Especially I don't understand why noone is building endless hunger, it makes you demon in teamfights with healing and short W cd. Also demon on side with short R cd.

So basically I have no other champs in my toplane pool and I'm so sick of counterpicking myself.

Seeing a full ranged comp or a lane matchup that hard counters me and still locking in Illaoi cause I'm an otp just feels horrible. It's fun to overcome rough drafts from time to time, but I'm an employed bitch now so I'm often too exhausted to have a proper shot at it.

I don't care about climbing or rank. I just wanna be able to play with my friends after work and not have my fun be 100% reliant on the enemy comp being playable for Illaoi.

So. Is there a pick that can deal well with ranged comps while also being good into the likes of Morde and Yorick?

(Not sure if it's relevant, but the rest of my champ pool is singed/maokai jungle, aphelios bot and milio/alistar support)

I want to start dedicating myself 100% to playing Illaoi, but I wanted to know if it's really possible, even though it's more difficult than other champions.

I've been thinking about it, i actually think it would be kind of nice? first of all, some ap items have passives that could benefit illaoi such as riftmaker, dusk and dawn or rilays, then her damage being mostly magic could fill the basically non existant role of ap bruiser.

I certainly feel like that wouldnt really hurt the champ, maybe having access to those items would even boost her power level to those of the better toplaners without hurting too much low elo or her identity.

Right wtf do i build here? i got 1 shot with mountain soul... 450 armor, steraks shield, DD passive, and anti crit with randuins. thornmail for anti heal. and obviously boots. idk what else i could buy to be a front line for my team? every enemy had massive true dmg.

side note i did have BC to start with but sold it for more armor, wasnt getting much use anyway vs no tanks

Just wondering what niche she occupies in top and the wider game.

Is she an early game beast / late game scaler etc?

I’ve always been interested in her kit (mainly cause she beats me in lane 99% of the time), but when I play her I seem to struggle.

She seems decent for melee and quite competitive even against ranged with her e, but ig im not playing my games right.

Same with teamfights, against me Illaoi just stomps and stays alive forever but when I try I just die and barely get value from my tentacles.

FYI: I am iron, so probably a fair amount of game knowledge I’m missing

I know, just dodge her E, and space R, and clear the tentacles. But I must be having some kind of a mental block against this champ. Coz when she misses E, she is usually pretty far and I can't punish her. And when we are fare close to each other, she wont miss her E. If im positioning outside of the wave, she can try to land E for free, if I'm inside the wave she just harasses with Q. And one E is enough to end my laning. I know she is pretty weak now, but I still keep losing to her. Looking for some tips, maybe there's something else.
