Fictional My take on The Witcher's Velhad Duchy + an older fan variant

Thumbnail

Velhad is a scarcely described principality in the Far North of Andrzej Sapkowski's The Witcher universe. The country doesn't have much lore written about it, neither is it canonical coat of arms known.

The first "fanon" coat of arms for Velhad was created by the fan nicknamed Mboro, who's also the author of some other coats of arms that has since featured in The Witcher 3 and the Netflix series. Mboro took inspiration from the country's name (literally "great serpent" in Slovak). Mboro's version can be seen in the second picture.

I've preserved Mboro's general idea and the colors, but made one crucial change to give the coat of arms more meaning: the snake is now not a mere serpent, but the eight-shaped Ouroboros himself, the master of Destiny according to the universe's internal mythology. (Whether such a deity actually exist within the universe is dubious -- Sapkowski famously claimed in one interview that gods don't exist in his world, only beliefs about them.) My take can be seen in the first picture.

Cheers!

HELP! Identifying the coat of arms on an antique signet ring

Hi! I’m trying to identify the coat of arms engraved on this old gold signet ring. I bought in France. Unfortunately, the ring has no hallmarks at all, so I don’t know its country of origin.

The shield appears to show a bird holding a ring in its beak, standing above a small cross-like motif and another object below. It’s topped by a closed crown with an orb and cross.

The shoulders of the ring also have an unusual overlapping, riveted design that reminds me of armour.

Any help identifying the arms, crown, country of origin, or possible family would be greatly appreciated!

Apologies for the crude drawing, does anyone have any idea what uni this is? The crest has come from someone’s graduation gown but it was through a photo hence the bad drawing.

I’ve tried searching through Wikipedia but can’t find it.

Redesigns HELP! House of Luxembourg (Alt. History) Coat of Arms

• Upvotes
Using this coat of arms belonging to Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor as base
Here is the following VERY in depth and useful layout I've figured out so far

More in depth in my Desires below.

I Find the Bohemian and Hungarian quartering on the base quite good already so I'd like to leave that.

Central Shield:
Duchy/House of Luxembourg

Quadrant A:
Margraviate of Moravia
Duchy of Silesia
Margraviate of (Upper and Lower) Lusatia

Quadrant B:
Margraviate of Brandenburg

Quadrant C:
Duchy of Brabant
Duchy of Limbourg
Duchy of Guelders
County of Holland

Quadrant D:
Margraviate/Duchy of Austria
Margraviate/Duchy of Styria

My issue is I have no idea how to execute this, so looking for help in creating, and making the design more realistic, Its set in an alternate history scenario I'm working on for myself where Sigismund of Luxembourg had a Surviving male heir and a line of decent successors, this coat of arms is for Sigismund II (Emperor 1499-1551 AD), great grandson of Sigismund I.

Sigismund II's Titles consist of:

Emperor of the Romans
King of Bohemia
King of Hungary (Croatia, Dalmatia)

Margrave of Moravia
Margrave of Brandenburg
Margrave of Styria
Margrave of Austria
Margrave of (Upper and Lower) Lusatia

Duke of Silesia
Duke of Luxembourg
Duke of Brabant
Duke of Guelders
Duke of Carinthia
Duke of Carniola

Count of Holland
Count of Hainaut
Count of Namur
Count of Zutphen
Count of Gorizia

Lord of Frisia
Lord of Waasland
Lord of the Wendish March
Lord of Trieste
