So i just came up with a theory that might actually make a LOT of sense, I believe Hello Guest takes place between HN1 and HN2, and that the Thing from HN1 and the guest are the same entity, here's how.
The Guest is the thing
Canonically, the Raven Brooks urban legends state that the guest can enter minds and morph into whatever its victim fears most. In HN1 the thing targeted Nicky Roth and Mr. Peterson. Because their trauma was about being trapped, isolated, and locked away, But in Hello Guest when the thing encounters Quentin, it scans his mind and finds about his phobia of crows, and instantly shifts its physical form into the parks crow mascot, The Guest
Treating them as separate monsters makes the town's lore feel way too cluttered and random. It makes infinitely more narrative sense that there is one demon of sorts haunting the valley, In some of the books it says that the guest/Raven man haunted the town for generations. It simply wears a different mask depending on who is looking at it.
- Quentin’s Security Job
In Hello Guest Alpha 1, Quentin is a security guard at the abandoned Golden Apple Amusement Park. The town’s shapeshifting fear-demon (the same entity as The Thing/Shadowman from HN1) reads Quentin’s mind. Knowing he has a specific phobia of crows, it takes the form of The Guest to terrorize him.
- The Cover-Up and Firing
At the end of HG Alpha 1, the Man In The Hat (Quentin's boss) catches him. This isn't just a gameplay reset, it's a massive cover-up. The Man in the Hat realizes Quentin is snooping too far into the corporation's dark history, so he immediately fires him and bans him from the amusement park to keep him quiet.
- The Pivot to Journalism
Getting abruptly fired is the exact spark Quentin needs. He doesn't give up; he gets obsessed. He buys his news van, builds his investigation board, and becomes an independent investigative reporter for the Raven Brooks banner to look more into the Peterson family. He shifts his focus from the park to the wider town of Raven Brooks itself.
- The Hunt Through the Woods
With Quentin Left, the Thing loses its primary source of fear. It completely abandons the amusement park and Scavenges across the county tracking Quentin down through the wilderness. It eventually settles in the Raven Brooks forest area which is exactly where we encounter it stalking around in Hello Neighbor 2
- The Texture Detail/Model change
The Guest in HN2 is 90% the exact same model used in Hello Guest, but its texture is noticeably dirtier, dustier, and more weathered. This isn't just a random texture change, its the literal visual proof of the guest getting filthy from traveling across the county and scavenging in the forest just to stay on Quentin's trail.
Obviously this theory might be insane but let me know what you all think
