HoI4 The German Queen is Moving - Multiplayer HoI4 with lot's of naval combat
In our long-standing multiplayer game, after some bracing after the fall of France, the pace is picking up. Germany is making a strategic move and UK initiates an amphibious assault that make the Regia Marine leave its port and engage the Royal Navy. Follow the intense action through the link! (we have a HR on max 2x50 stack ships in a sea zone - that's why the fleet composition looks like it does)

Does anyone else get PTSD from the naval invasion alert sound?
After 3,700+ hours of HOI4, I swear that sound has permanently damaged my brain.
I could be peacefully managing my divisions, building factories, or just enjoying the game, but the SECOND I hear that naval invasion alert, my fight-or-flight response kicks in.
Instant pause. Maximum zoom out. Checking every single coastline like my entire existence depends on it, and 90% of the time, it's just one suicidal British division trying to land in the middle of nowhere.
And the worst part? It doesn't even have to be my own game. I could be casually watching a HOI4 video on YouTube, and the moment that sound plays, my brain immediately goes into full panic mode. For a split second, I genuinely feel like I need to pause the game and defend my coastline, even though I'm literally just watching someone else play.
I swear I could hear that sound in real life and instinctively reach for the spacebar.
Please tell me I'm not the only one. 💀

Good Hoi4 Tutorials for Vanilla Italy
I have watched several HOI4 YouTubers and learned the mechanics, but when it comes to applying this knowledge in real games, I fail. It is easy for me to conquer Ethiopia and even Albania, but as soon as the Balkan campaigns or the Second World War start, something goes wrong, I cannot penetrate enemy lines, manage production, etc. I need a tutorial JUST for vanilla hoi4.

HoI4 "No Paratroopers in the command group."
Why does it say that. Obviously there are Paratroopers.

My first mod and I need help
I've recently started working on my first HOI4 mod, mainly because I've always felt the vanilla game could use a lot more immersion, especially when it comes to audio.
My original goal was to overhaul the sound system. I want to hear distant artillery, machine gun fire, explosions and actual battlefield ambience when zooming into active frontlines. I'd also love to have cities feel alive, with different ambient sounds depending on where you're looking. Basically, I want the map to feel like there's an actual war happening instead of everything being so quiet.
I've been experimenting with this, but I'm struggling with accessing and implementing sounds properly. If anyone has experience with HOI4's sound system, I'd really appreciate some guidance, especially with getting sounds to trigger automatically based on what's happening in-game.
I've also started working on improving the AI.
A few examples of what I'm trying to accomplish:
- Germany: If Germany is losing massive amounts of infantry equipment, I want its AI to recognize the shortage and shift more military factories toward producing guns instead of blindly following a fixed production plan.
- Air warfare: I want major nations to have more historically accurate aircraft strengths and weaknesses. German fighters, British fighters, Japanese aircraft, American aircraft, etc., should actually feel different instead of everyone eventually building the same meta designs.
- Japan: I want Japan to be a much more capable opponent in the Pacific. Better island garrisons, improved port construction and defenses, more sensible naval production, and an AI that recognizes when it needs additional convoys.
-General AI: Better logistics, production priorities and military decisions. I want countries to react to their actual situation rather than constantly following predetermined scripts.
I'm not trying to completely change HOI4 or turn it into a different game. The goal is to enhance vanilla, make WWII feel more immersive, and hopefully reduce some of the repetitive meta strategies.
I'm still learning how HOI4 scripting works, so I know some of these ideas might be limited by what the engine actually supports.
If anyone has experience with sound implementation, AI strategies, equipment design priorities or modding in general, I'd love to hear your advice. Maybe hop in a vc and teach me

HoI4 A struggle for India - with a lot of proxy warlords...
Follow the action (here) as the struggle for India moves into the dramatic conclusion. Although it was initiated as a civil war, Japanese puppet masters is clearly lurking in the shadows - and later more directly. But the Allies have a few cards to play as well...
We also go through UKs naval build up and discuss a few slightly dodgy possible actions in HoI4.

HoI4 Crashing when tag switching?
Hi everyone, I have this weird bug when I tag switch to Germany and then to any other country, I'm trying to do a central powers play through and the German AI keeps messing things up so I thought I would tag over to them to white peace but when I tagged back to Austria the game crashed, I went back and tested it and it only crashed when I tag to Germany but it doesn't matter what country I tag back to, does anyone know I fix? Thanks :)
