Gwentfinity Voting Council - 22 Oct, 2026 - Scoia'tael

Members of the Council, welcome to our weekly assembly.

These posts are scheduled to happen every week. Each week, a different faction is proposed and every time we will try to orient the discussion about either "nerf" or "buff".

Faction of the Week: Scoia'Tael

While you can still use these topics to talk about other balance suggestions, please try to focus on the theme of the week. Those topics are intended to give a chance to all factions to be talked about.

Discussions can be about modifying a whole archetype or addressing individual cards.

Potential sources if needed: GwentData, Gwent.one, PlayGwent.com, Balance Council Generator

Hello guys, I've been playing gwent, not really sure, maybe in 2018-2019, then suddenly stopped, but decided to hop back to it and ain't sure from what to start to learn to play again

Also is it a lot? Can I make strong decks with it? Remember I had those stripes(if I call them correctly) since those years, maybe it multiplied, idk

P.S: apologies, they're called scraps

Question Anyone else can't connect?

I'm playing the Android version of Gwent on my tablet. First thing this morning, I tried to queue for a game and got an error "game version no longer supported". I played an AI game no problem. I tried queueing again and this time it just spun forever.

I've checked for updates, force stopped the app, cleared cache and restarted the tablet. Now it simply won't connect on startup with "check your internet connection". My connection is fine.

Servers down? Can't think of any other explanation.

EDIT: Glad it's not just me. And now the withdrawals start...

EDIT 2: We're back up again! Go get your fix bros!

Question Custom Gwent art book – looking for ideas and experiences

I like the official Gwent art books but buying them all together is too expensive for me plus I have different preferences when it comes to the specific artworks and how they are curated. Has anyone here ever made their own custom art book?

Basically, I wanted to keep the faction-based structure. But focus my highlights on specific cards (Vilgefortz, Yaga, Whoreson Junior, Gezras, etc.) and group together archetypes the way I used to play them like Crimes, Vampires, Assimilate and so on. So it's also a kind of personal keepsake for my favorite cards. Open to ideas!

Discussion Dwarven Skirmisher is ridiculous

Two targeted 3point pings on a 4 unit card. The amount of value this card generates is hard to quantify. It can kill engines, float damage, setup big removal plays. It's weak body is actually an advantage too because it makes it useless to remove with typical 4damage cards.

This should easily be a 2power 5 provision card.

Discussion Would Thronebreaker/Gwent Make a Good Asynchronous PVP Game?

Its been a couple of years since Gwent went into maintenance mode and recently I had the thought that the gameplay of Thronebreaker/Gwent(mostly Thronebreaker) could be turned into an async PVP game. The different locations from Thronebreaker could be considered a chapter/day and have PVE roguelike gameplay before an actual player at the end of the chapter/day. Gwent could also be a good baseline to build an autobattler off of because the board is supposed to represent a battlefield.

Discussion Adda Shupe Thrive deck nerf suggestions

heyo! this deck has seen top level play for several months now, and with the shupe nerf revert it became even stronger than before (though not as strong as when it first emerged about 6 months prior).

it’s a very strong deck, with a great control suite, whike it’s strategy can perform well in a short and long run in equal measure. It’s very hard to beat this deck when it’s piloted by a strong player. At the same time, it’s a very skill dependent deck, so it’s not the worst deck of all time to be over performing.

i want to start a conversation about how it can be tuned down, while offering 3 of my suggestions as options.

1) nerf Alpha Werewolf By provision.

its the main source of carryover in the deck, and the reason why Adda can play for 20+ points. This nerf would also hit midrange fruits of ysgith decks and Cockatrice beast decks

2) nerf the carapace leader.

This would also hit Selfeater-based relicts, both the GN version and the regular, as well as ogroids and Kelly.

Ogroids can probably survive the nerf without noticing it, while Kelly could be buffed by provision to compensate. not sure what to do with Selfeater relicts, I don’t think they deserve any nerfs.

3) nerf Adda Striga by power. This one is more significant than it may seem, as it means that Adda can no longer eat Thing from the Box with just 2 leader charges, and could no longer eat the djinn spawned by the Puzzlebox without a leader at all.

this nerf would reduce Ada’s point output, true, but more importantly it would move the entire deck further into combo territory, as you would want to use enchanted armor stratagem or Vial of forbidden knowledge to boost your Adda, therefore increasing the amount of setup necessary for the deck to work.

the main benefit of needing the deck by provision is that it’s already quite tight on its budget, and 1 leas provision likely means dropping Maxii, Dorregarey, or endrega Larva, which lowers consistency, control or r1 point output respectively.

I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on the matter. Personally I love this deck very much, but sometimes it does feel like You win games by a landslide.

Discussion Go back button / Remove something from the game

If you had the option to go back to one specific patch or time and enjoy GWENT as it was back then, which time would it be?

Alternatively, what card/mechanic did the game introduce which eventually fundamentally changed everything in a negative way?

I personally feel like the "infuse" status really changed a lot of things. I think it's not a healthy mechanic. As well as the options to spam the same unit many times, for example reaver hunters decks.

Question Anyone got a good Devotion ST list?

Title. I’m an SK enjoyer but Eithne is calling to me since I opened her evolving card in premium. I want long rounds with tons of vitality, specials and green ladies. Also I started playing in Master Mirror so all devotion decks are pretty nostalgic to me (except vampires, fuck them.)

Thanks.

Question Leveling fast

Is there a faster way to level up? I've been collecting kegs and not letting myself open even one because someone on this sub told me that on lvl 60 you get prestige 1 and kegs are better. I've collected over 40 kegs and have resources for like 20 more and I feel like I'm gonna shit a brick if I don't open few. Currently I'm on level 58 and I've been grinding for days. Can I level up faster? And if not, do you know how long will it take me to get to prestige 1? Thank you

Discussion Good Impact Council #21 - Your Shortlist Of 7 Buff

Finding cards which deserve a buff is no challenge. Picking ones which would make you want to play the game in the following season is harder.

If the next balance council was limited to only one buff per faction (no other buffs in the game) + one neutral... what would be Top 7 buffs you'd like to see? Similarly to the previous edition I'd like you to answer this post only with your Top7s (+preferably explanation). I invite mods to remove comments violating this convention. Then particular Top7s are discussed below them.

I'd put down mine as a comment too. Have fun!

Question Just wondering... Princess Adda Leader skin price?

I just got absolutely rolled as a relatively new player by this Northern Realms deck. I'm level 11 and rank 28 or 27, I think? There are so many numbers by my profile name. Their deck had all these knight cards that had just paragraphs of text (something about a chapter?), boosts, grace, and other nonsense. I got rolled and just forfeited at the end of the second round because I honestly couldn't tell what was going on anymore. I was straight up starting to get a migraine from trying to understand their cards and what they did.

The other person had Princess Adda as their leader. I'm just wondering how much it would cost to get that skin. (Partially to tell me how much money the person put into the game to get that deck).

For context, I'm playing a White Frost Devotion deck with a few of the gold cards from that very first reward book. I was holding my own or having close battles for most matches up until this.

Question Running Gwent fine with cheap tablet but wanted to know about Throne Breaker and Rogue Mage

Hello all, I was hoping someone who might be in a similar boat as me could give me a solid answer on running Throne Breaker and Rogue Mage on their budget tablets and if they've had any issues. I bought a $100 dollar tcl tablet at Walmart strictly for reading as for whatever reason recently I've gotten hooked on graphic novels and Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian and thought yeah I need a bigger screen. Well I had a hankering to play me some Gwent as I haven't played it since my obsession with it on ps4 (rip) and I got hooked on starting back over from scratch

Well now that I know there's 2 standalone single player games I'm thinking those might be just as fun but I'm worried they might not run or be tougher to run on my tablet. Any of you tried those on a similar device and what was your experience.

Sorry for the rant hope everyone's doing well!

Discussion Somebody please explain to me how the SY Bounty package isn't completely broken?

Obviously I'm missing something, because from where I'm sitting, it seems like coin gain and bounty application is almost completely non-interactive, and because of that, their damage cards get essentially infinite value, on the turn they're played and every turn they stay alive. Doesn't matter if it's Whoreson's Freak Show at 8p or Witch Hunter Executioner at 5p, they just get to kill anything lower than 10 and get all their money back, then reapply bounty next turn and repeat. I get that its conditional on the bounty, but I honestly can't say I've ever fought against any version of this deck that doesn't easily manage enough bounties to board wipe every single turn.

It's gotten to the point where I genuinely can't remember the last time I fought this deck and didn't get no-stress 2-0d. The kinda 2-0 where they don't even need to make a decision, because there's zero pushback, they just get ahead in on turn 1 and stay ahead all game because anything played gets deleted with tempo.

And this is with me playing a wide variety of decks, btw. All Skellige, but various archetypes across all leader abilities. None of them even remotely stand a chance. I thought the swarm I get with witchers might counter a control deck, but no, they can put the damage wherever they like so spread power means nothing. I also thought a control deck might be the answer, but no, not really, because when they play an engine they get to spend any lost value from their previous engines straight away, before you have a chance to react. Even self-wound gets beaten all the way in.

So, what's the answer?

Deck I upgraded every starter deck for new players

Yesterday i encountered a new player post, asking for suggestions on how to build out their collection, and branch out to new factions. The broadly shared new player advice is that you should stick to one faction until you get a strong deck and then continue to play it until you get enough scraps to build strong decks for the other factions, before trying them out. This advice can sound discouraging because it makes it seem like trying new things is a bad idea. So i challenged myself to find the cheapest ways to upgrade each of the starter decks into a competent state.

I gave myself the following restrictions for what cards i can use:

  1. Cards from the starter set (which every fresh account has)
  2. Cards from the Faction Beginner Reward tree (extremely value-packed, unlocked in 15 keys and a handful of games)
  3. 1000 scrap budget for crafting any additional cards
  4. I can choose any leader ability, since they are all free.

With these restrictions, these decks are extremely cheap to make, and should be possible to achieve within 1, at most 2 hours of play, after creatinga fresh account. All of these decks are "competent" - meaning that they include no more than 25 cards, while using all of the available provisions.

Without further ado, here are the decks:

~ ~ ~

Northern Realms

https://www.playgwent.com/en/decks/a41f3d05c7eddde61a48569c971643b9

Cards to craft:

1x Raffard's Vengeance

1x Black Rayla

1x Hubert Rejk

1x Onager

2x Siege Master

1x Boiling Oil

1x Carroballista

2x Kaedweni Sergeant

2x Winch

Budget: 970/1000 scraps

Leans toward engine overload, with Raffard's Vengeance allowing you to develop multiple engines in a single turn, while Winch and Siege Masters threaten to reduce its cooldown and repeat the order. Kerack Frigate is your main proactive engine, which can quickly swarm the board. Temerian Infantry and Onager can provide a large amount of random pings of damage, which allows Lyrian Arbalest, Black Rayla and Carrobalista to do the cleanup, giving you decent engine-based removal.

Amphibious Assault can tutor all of your most important engines, while also protecting them from damage. You need to save 1 leader charge for Prince Anseis, and 1 for Raffard's Vengeance, to give their order's zeal. Be careful with over-swarming - do not keep more than 1 Kerack Frigate on the board at a time.

The general game plan is to play Raffard's Vengeance in round 1, and win round 1 by overwhelming the opponent with efficient engines. Be careful not to overcommit, and try to spread your points evenly across all rounds.

Scoia'tael

https://www.playgwent.com/en/decks/67834984f77661fcab392eaf118be181

Cards to craft:

1x Zoltan: Warrior

1x Mastercrafted Spear

2x Dwarven Chariot

2x Brokilon Sentinel

Budget: 1200/1000

This is a heavy control deck, with the Precision Strike leader helping you to remove enemy units, while also thinning your Brokilon Sentinels upon the consumption of the last charge, and quickly swarming your board for Great Oak. You have a couple powerful but hard to remove engines in Treant Boar, Pavko Gale, and Freixenet who contribute to the overall gameplan. In general, the deck wants to win round 1, and push hard in round 2 while developing carryover with Dunca, aiming to deprive the enemy of resources and win in a short round 3 with quick points from cards like Zoltan and Great Oak.

The gameplan is to remove opponent's engines before they can generate value, and then simply outvalue whatever they have left with your strong short-round plays. Avoid having any high power units when playing this deck. Part of the strength of this deck is denying the opponent a target for their Geralt of Rivia. For that reason, it is important to win round 1, and go into round 3, where Great Oak is the last card you play.

I was not happy with any version of the deck that stayed under budget, and chose to exceed it. Zoltan Warrior is an incredibly versatile and popular card, which fits very well in this deck, but it demands support from Dwarven Chariots to give it armor. The deck can be incrementally upgraded further, replacing Friexenet with Ele'yas, Dorregaray for Ciaran and Forest protector with Garrison.

~ ~ ~

Nilfgaard

https://www.playgwent.com/en/decks/33883fa428bbb5988cd7091e5b351161

Cards to Craft:

1x Battle Stations!

1x Hefty Helge

1x Assassination

2x Magne Division

2x Joust

2x Buhurt

2x Fire Scorpion

Budget: 820/1000

This is a control / combo deck. The goal is to develop your Fire Scorpions / Hefty Helge and then play a lot of Tactics to give them charges, to allow them to kill enemy units, or damage them into range of your leader ability. The Enslave leader can steal a powerful enemy engine, denying them the value and giving it to you. You can also make copies of enemy units with Braathens and the Duchess informant to trigger Assimilate for additional value. Steffan Skellen is your ultimate finisher, as he creates 4 Aces, each of which is a Tactic, therefore giving charges to your scorpions and Helga, while also triggering Assimilate, since these Aces were spawned by Skellen, and did not start in your deck

The general gameplan is to play a scorpion round 1, and see if your opponent answers it. If they don't, you can try to win round 1, using your leader if you have to, while thinning aggressively via Battle Stations and Magne divisions. If your scorpion is answered, you can surrender round 1, and play a long round 2 and 3. Winning round 3 requires developing a board state where Skellen will play for massive value via order charges and assimilate value. Glinnis, Helge, and Skellen are your ideal hand for a short round 3.

This deck can easily be upgraded by replacing Braathens with Jan Calveit, to guarantee consistency in round 3.

~ ~ ~

Monsters

https://www.playgwent.com/en/decks/162219b234958c072e682a8d2e0289c7

Cards to Craft:

1x Mammuna

1x Lord Riptide

1x Jotunn

1x Golyat

1x Ancient Foglet

Budget: 880/1000

This is an aggressive midrange deck, which overwhelms the opponent with high tempo plays and efficient engines. The white frost leader provides a lot of passive value, boosting your Wild Hunt units when you play them opposite of Frost, while slowly chipping away at the enemy. The deck is not focused on control, but it has a select few answers to dangerous threats, thanks to Lord Riptide and Parasite.

It is important to use round 1 to set up Mammuna - Ice Giant or Aen Elle Conqueror are her desired targets. You want to play exactly 1 copy of at least one of them, so that in round 2, you have 1 in the graveyard for Mammuna to consume, immediately summoning the other from your deck. Likewise, you want to play Yghern early in round 1 or round 2, because you need him in your graveyard so that you can consume him with Ozzrel in round 3. Be careful with playing Golyat if you suspect the opponent has the means to kill him. The deck lacks consistency, so it is important to mulligan aggressively to increase the odds of finding your golds.

The deck can easily be upgraded into a more frost-focused list by replacing Nithral with Imlerith, Jotunn with Caranthir Golden Child, and Mammuna with King Auberon, and Golyat to Ge'els

Alternatively, you can pivot towards midrange fruits of ysgith by replacing Yghern with Oneiromancy, Aen Elle Conquerors for Werewolves, Wild Hunt Bruisers for Griffins, Eredin for Adda, Ozzrel for Alpha Werewolf, Nithral for Imlerith, Red Riders for Fiends while Naglfer's crew and ancient foglet are downgraded to some utility 4p bronzes, like squirrel, spores and pellar.

~ ~ ~

Skellige

https://www.playgwent.com/en/decks/c4680d3940aef3302353dc3226d12fa1

Cards to craft:

1x Fucusya

1x Ulula

Budget: 1000/1000

This is a midrange deck with some recursion. Most of your units are warriors which deal damage, which is then amplified by Ulula. This same damage serves to power up your AN Craite Greatswords and Dagur Two Blades. Your leader serves to boost your Greatswords and Dagur while setting up bloodthirst for key cards like Blood Eagle (your main tutor), and Madman Lugos. You can use Freya's Blessings to return An Craite Greatswords to teh board from your graveyard in round 2 or 3, while fucusya can return any unit from the grave, creating rain with the unspent provisions.

This deck wants to fight for round 1, and is happy to give up any and all cards except Fucusya to win it. The goal is to win round 1 while filling your graveyard, so you could push in round 2 to force your opponent to give up their best cards, aiming to then go into a short round 3, which you win with Fucusya + leader. Finding Fucusya is key, so you have to mulligan aggressively to increase the chances of finidng her. If you do not find Fucusya during round 1 or 2, do your best to hold onto the last leader charge, as those points may win you round 3 if you still do not find fucusya.

It is somewhat challenging to recommend upgrades for, as it stands at a crossroads between multiple archetypes, and is glued together by the Patricidal Fury Leader. The only clear upgrade is replacing Donar an Hindar with Herkja Drummond, as Herkja goes hand in hand with Ulula. Beyond that, you need to pick one of the various warrior archetypes which use similar cards.

I recommend one of the following:

  1. Devotion Ulula Warriors. No neutral cards, emphasis on recursion to let your warriors fight again and again.
  2. Renfri Warriors. Lesser focus on recursion, and more on midrange value and consistency.
  3. Golden Nekker Warriors. Combo deck designed around Ulula's effect, but Golden Nekker decks are notoriously hard to pilot., and are expensive to build.

Syndicate

https://www.playgwent.com/en/decks/245dcfefb509479e92ee812d86708e7f

Cards to craft:

1x Cyrus Engelkind Hemmelfart

1x Damnation

1x Bone Talisman

2x Lonely Champion

Budget: 1190/1000

This is a pure-as-water combo deck. This is a token swarm deck, where one half of your cards spawns tokens on your board, and the other half does things anytime you spawn a unit. If you have 2 Firesworn Scribes stationed on your ranged row you can go infinite with Grand Inquisitor Helveed, as they refund the cost of his Fee. Lonely Champion's order cleans up your boardspace, allowing you to continue executing the combo.

Additionally, you can use Hemmelfart to return Scribes from your graveyard, allowing you to execute the combo in a second round. More importantly, you can use Damnation to craft another Hemmelfart by killing an 8 power unit, another Helveed by killing a 5 power unit, another von Herst by killing a 4 power unit, and a procession of penance by killing a 2-power unit.

This deck can be improved further by adding Saint Gregory - who is a classic finisher card designed for Fireswarm, cutting non archetype cards like Tavern Brawl, Ludovicus Brunenbaum as well as weak cards like Sacred Flame and Procession of penance. You can improve consistency by running more tutors namely Mercenary Contract, or thinning packages like Casino Bouncers

~ ~ ~

I hope that the new players find this helpful.

Question Syndicate deck suggestion

Hey guys, what would be a good Syndicate deck which is also competitive for someone who is looking to start playing the faction?
