Rule 9 in force effective immediately

Hi all, its me again. We're introducing Rule 9 effective immediately. We've seen certain individuals on this subreddit requesting users to DM them or requesting GH support on this subreddit and we just want to make a couple things clear by implementing this rule.

  1. GH support is not permitted in this subreddit in any way, shape or form. That's why you will never see them, and if somebody contacts you or comments saying they are, they're lying and will likely be permabanned anyways even if they were GH support as GH support is banned from participation here.
  2. Requesting a user to DM you is not only suspicious, but can also be done in an attempt to circumvent our rules, in particular with Rule 7 in contravening GH's Terms of Service which we do enforce here. You do not need to DM anybody, and you do not need anybody to DM you. If you need mentoring etc. do it publicly where everybody can benefit.
  3. This rule allows us justification to punish those who randomly DM users on our subreddit with malicious intents. We didn't need a rule to justify it, but it certainly helps. Scammers etc. exist everywhere, especially when money's involved like it is here. Don't fall for scams, don't accept random DM requests from this subreddit or about GH and you'll be fine.

I hope you all can appreciate the reasoning for this rule coming to be, and thank you for being part of our community. Please continue to report rule-infringing posts and comments and they will be reviewed.

You can discuss and post about your monthly earnings here. The low-effort rule does not apply within this thread, but all other rules still do. You cannot post about your monthly earnings anywhere else but here.

Strange order interaction

Post image
1 Upvotes

I had the strangest order interaction today. I got a order for 2 711 orders both going to the same house for $25 plus 2 3$ bonuses so over 30$ for a few miles. I get there and pick up both orders. Each order is a box of nerds candy. Strange $30 for 2 boxes of nerds. Customer then texts me and says I'm not at that address I'm in Deerfield (which is 2 cities over) just throw them away or I'll take care of you if you bring them to me. I say just reorder I'm sorry but I can't go not Deerfield. They offer me $50 and mention they are a CD. I respond what's a CD. A cross dresser they say. I'm still not interested and tell them to reorder it will be cheaper. Not sure what just happened but someone really wanted there nerds?

YOUR A ROBOT YOUR NOT HUMAN, IF YOU TRY ACTING HUMAN YOUR NOT GONNA MAKE MONEY ON THIS PLATFORM. Fyi, follow all the rules to the T. Don't interact too much with customers especially over text, imagine your grubhub ai. You will lose money on slow days but I promise the 100% is worth it on fri, sat, sun, mon. I've been doing grubhub for over a year I promise I know what I'm talking about.

Grubhub needs to update their phone number

I find it absolutely ridiculous how iPhone is now making every single number basically look like spam, even though a 312 is a literal Chicago area code. When I try to call someone to bring them their food, they don’t answer, and when I call them multiple times a row, they still don’t answer, and then finally when I get a hold of them, they then tell me oh, I thought you were a spam caller because that’s what it says on my phone, but what spam caller calls multiple times, that doesn’t even make sense, and I had to explain to that person, hey, a dude from India isn’t gonna call you multiple times in a row. Maybe you should think about the fact that you just ordered food and it was supposed to be being delivered, but now I’m the bad guy, now I’m gonna get a bad rating because I had to explain to someone what a spam caller doesn’t do, because Grubhub can’t get a hold of Apple and tell them to not make their number look like a spam call

Map hot spots now broken

Anyone notice the map hotspot showing hotspots for closed places. In the past when there were no orders in the region the hotspots wouldn't load and it would give a pop up saying like the heat map can't load or something like that. Now it seems like they just load a past heat map so it looks like there are orders in the region. Now it just makes me not trust the heat map, and the entire point of the heat map was for the drivers to head over to that area before they get the offer so grubhub can pay them less when they get closer to the restaurant, but this clearly is back firing no one can trust it now anyways.

I despise this job

I do this job part time but absolutely need to make $400-$500 a week and fall short of it every single week. Trash order after trash order. Long distance orders. Restaurants taking forever, unable to mark orders delivered if service is bad. The damn code that you need for 70% of orders. Getting a unicorn once a month and then 99% $5 orders.

If you do this full time, I have no idea how you survive. It’s just not worth the stress of trying to hit your goals, the wear and tear on your car, and the lack of worth this gig provides. I do enjoy the flexibility and the independence of it, but it’s just not profitable.

If you like the nature of the work, go to FedEx, Amazon, or even better, UPS. At least you know what your check will be at the end of the week. Can’t wait to escape this hellhole that is food delivery.

Rant over

Drink surprise at Restaurant

I went to pick up an order at a restaurant and I started walking over to the drink fountain to fill a drink and they said that they have to do it now.

They had gotten an email from the Health Dept that they must feel drinks now for deliveries. I said that's good because we could have dirty hands and really violates health rules to have us fill drinks.

Hopefully the same email gets to all restaurants in my area including and especially Wingstop. REALLY get tired of them telling us what the drink flavor is. (yeah shutup I know what it is). There is one Wingstop near me that often fills the drinks.

I had been thinking about contacting the health department, but maybe another driver beat me to it or the health department just started doing their job better.

Mission pay

Can anyone explain mission pay like I'm 5!!!

2 times already they didnt pay my $6/ order mission. I did pickup both time in the time frame but dropped was after (yesterday even a min after cuz restaurant took like 15 mins to get my order.

Support is a joke, no chat, no live. Sent email with screenshot attached no response.

Missions are aggravating.

I've been doing GH sparingly for over a year when I have time. When I am oncall and there's a mission in effect, anymore I want to say f- it and go home. I'll lay out the good and the bad and I want to hear if its just me doing something wrong or if its systemic.

Mission +$4 per order delivered. The good is you can get the boost. The bad is over the usual 65-85 minutes that its running, you'll definitely get 1 delivered but the chance of getting a 2nd order delivered is possible but not likely, a third order is impossible because even if you do get one you will not make it to the dropoff in time. The worst is being 1 minute past. For some unknown reason it will be an array of things. One being the drop off is at least 20 mins away. I see this one the most along with the drop off being on the edge of outside of my zone. The second issue being the order takes 10-15 mins or more. I dropped 1 order after waiting 20 mins and told it would be another 10 before it was ready. I was not okay with blowing out a third of an hour and still had an 8 mile drive for $7-something.

Mission: Deliver # without skipping any/more than 1 and get +$$. Example: today from 5pm-8pm, deliver 6 get +$9. Cool. I skipped 0, got 5 in those 3 hours and only 4 counted because the 5th was 1 minute passed. I declined the next 2 that came in within a few minutes and turned it off, went home. This always happens. I'll be short 1, the offers are too far away, the drop off too far way, or like today I went more than 30 mins without an order. Does anyone remember that insurance commercial with the fisherman having a dollar on a hook and kept yanking it back when someone jumped for it? That's what it feels like.

I've really come to hate missions and regard them as being a joke.

Some days GH is trash, some days DD is trash. Missions are always trash.

Scammer in Morgan Hill, CA

Post image

This is not food dropped off!

We were just scammed in Morgan Hill by a driver who clearly sat down the road for 10 minutes before taking off. Grubhub refused to reimburse. Sorry to say but she’s the reason Grubhub just lost a good restaurant connection

new to grubhub

i’m starting my grubhub journey soon. Tbh I’ve had the app installed for quite some time but have procrastinated so much. now i’m in my life where this side job is actually needed. any tips? is it actually worth wasting my gas, or will i make so little in say 3 hours that the money i made would pretty much go towards gas again. these have been my concerns and main reason for stalling.

(i know things take time and better offers come after consistency on my end, but ig i just wanna know that it will get better eventually)

This is how you know this stats is based on last week.

On my last delivery I was at 79% on time diner. And the last four hours before updates this is my current. And I now end up at Pro. This update at 10 is BS. They should just change it to update it at 12 midnight.

Was i in the wrong here? I had to cancel an order after waiting for 20 min

I'm a driver and was assigned two orders to pick up. i picked up the first one with no issues just fine, but the 2nd one the doors were locked giving me the impression the place was closed. but i could see on the window that they were open until 10 pm and it was only about 8:50. Also it was one of those ghost kitchens where multiple food vendors make orders there for pick up. I called the restaurant and told them the doors were locked which he sounded surprised and told me to wait a minute while he tells them. so i hung up and waited maybe 5 min and got no call back or anyone answering the door still. So i called them again and yet again i had to explain that the doors were locked and i could not go in and pick up the delivery. they said ok just wait 2 more minutes... 5 minutes pass and other drivers start showing up and they are also locked out. I call up grubhub help, explained the situation and they attempted to call them but this time the vendor didn't answer them. They told me to wait 5 more minutes and then cancel. I waited about 20 minutes total (15 just waiting out there after they told me to wait plus 5 more after grubhub help to me to wait a bit longer) and i also sent the customer the stock message about the 'restaurant is still making their order'. i got fed up and decided to cancel the order on my end because i still had a 2nd delivery to do and worried about it getting cold.

So i went on my way but about midway on my way to deliver the other order the customer calls me asking what happened. i calmly explained that i was waiting for 20 minutes outside and the doors were locked and i had another delivery to do and that another driver would pick that up for her. they sounded annoyed but they said they would call the restaurant which i was fine with. so i just about reached the destination for the other delivery when they call again and tell me the restaurant had her order ready but i cancelled. i explained that the restaurant lied to me because they said they would have the order in two minutes and instead i waited there almost 20 along with other delivery drivers wondering why the place is closed too. Apparently because i cancelled that means the order altogether was cancelled. but she didn't accept that answer and said she won't be getting her food and hung up on me.

I guess im not sure what i could have done there. the restaurant kept telling me someone would come to give it to me but it didn't happen. and i had the other delivery to do which was getting cold by the minute. Was i wrong here? What would you have done?

These new violations are so fake

I’ve been doing GH for nine years, delivered probably 12,000 orders, why am I suddenly ‘getting violations’ for my picture quality? This is BS.

Done with Taco Bell

Who else has had it with Taco Bell? You can’t get anyone’s attention, they are slow and we as drivers get penalized for their slow service.

Grubhub zooming the map allll the way out and freezing it so you can’t see where the locations are, and giving out account violations if you unassign once you’re able to see it???

Grubhub giving out account violations for unassigning offers after not allowing us to see where we are going!! What’s your take on this????? Is it time to prioritize the OTHER food delivery apps over GrubHub like DoorDash and UberEats since GrubHub is trying to bamboozle and compromise their own drivers??
