I don't normally put people on blast, but I've been to shows at all the various Horrocks venues in Michigan and there's one guy at the GR location who is a serial vibe killer.
No idea what his job title is but I think he's a bar back with mall cop energy. He either hangs out in the tavern, where I don't think I've ever seen him serve a drink, but mostly he walks around the music venue scolding people for moving chairs and bringing in their own water bottles. I get the need for rules but his delivery sucks. He acts like a middle school cafeteria monitor and, quite frankly, it's a bad look for Horrocks.
Tonight my wife and I went to see a show and while they're playing their last song he's dragging a whole ass 44 gal trash barrel through the venue--scraping on the floor-- to get a jump on cleaning up. Next he puts on the bright as fuck main lights while the last note is still ringing out before they even had a chance to thank the crowd. Then, for the coup de grace, he needlessly walks up to the stage and tells the band "You guys usually have a bigger crowd."
I'm not sure if this is how GR Horrocks is or if this guy is just a rogue employee who needs to get checked, but Lansing is such a better experience for seeing shows and its not even close. The GR layout and seating is way better, but there's literally 1-2 members of the staff who detract from the experience pointlessly.
