Showcase I built a free tool that emails your Google Play app's daily downloads every morning

Post image
• Upvotes

I got tired of Google Play Console being slow to update download numbers. The download count often lags behind, so I wanted a simpler way to keep track of my app's growth.

So I built a small tool that sends me a daily email with:

- Downloads in the last 24 hours

- Total downloads

Now I don't have to open Play Console every day just to check my stats.

I figured other Android developers might find it useful too, so I've made it free.

I'd love to hear your feedback or feature suggestions!

Try it here: dailydownloads.pages.dev or click the link website link

Showcase I’m a chef building a stargazing app between shifts — 608 installs later, I’ve just released another update

I’ve been a very busy boy lately 😅

I’m Colin, a chef on Sark in the Channel Islands. Back in August, I launched NAKED EYE — an Android stargazing app I’ve been building around long kitchen shifts, without a background in app development.

The idea started with three questions I wanted an app to answer simply:

What’s actually worth seeing tonight?

When should I go outside?

Where should I look?

I’ve just released another update. The screen pictured brings together “Open your sky” for AR exploration and Target Lock for guidance towards a selected object. The aim is to help people spend less time figuring out the app and more time enjoying what’s above them.

My latest Google Play report shows 608 installs. It’s still a small project, but seeing something I built between shifts being used by other people feels pretty special.

I’m learning that adding things is only half the job. Making them clear to someone opening the app for the first time is just as important. Honest feedback has been really useful for that.

The core app is free, with an optional Beyond subscription for planning ahead and smarter alerts. And the “Under One Sky” button visible in the image is still marked coming soon — that part isn’t live yet.

For anyone who enjoys stargazing: what’s something you wish an app explained more clearly when you were starting out?

Help Added bank account on the 16th, when will my first Google Play payout arrive?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I just added my bank account to my Google Play Console payments profile yesterday (Oct 16), and it was validated as my primary payment method.

My payments page shows:

Oct 1–17: $245.46

Sept 1–30: $247.26

Aug 1–31: $193.49

Payout threshold: $1.00 (100% reached)

I've read that Google pays out around the 15th of each month. My questions:

Since I added the account after the 15th, do I have to wait until November 15 for the next payout, or can Google still send it earlier?

Will the September balance ($247.26) be included in the November payout along with October's, or is it already paid?

There's a banner asking for tax info for Brazil. Could incomplete tax info delay the payment?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Showcase I’ll design free App Store screenshots for the first 2 apps in the comments

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’m making screenshot concepts for two apps today. The image shows the kind of work I can make, with a different style for each app.

If you’d like one, comment with your App Store link and a short description of your app. If it isn’t live yet, share a few raw screenshots instead. I’ll take the first two with enough details to work from.

Showcase Published 14 apps on Google Play as a solo dev. For Showcase Saturday, here are the 2 apps I built to solve my own biggest headaches [Showcase]

Hey everyone, Happy Showcase Saturday!

Over the past couple of years, I’ve managed to get 14 apps into production on Google Play as a solo indie developer. Going through the Play Console process so many times taught me two major lessons:

  1. Coordinating Google's mandatory 14-day closed testing with 12–20 testers is by far the biggest operational headache for solo builders.

  2. Building focused, utility-driven tools with clean UI consistently gets better long-term retention than bloated projects.

For Showcase Saturday, I wanted to share the 2 recent tools I built (both using Flutter) to solve problems I ran into while building:

---

### 1. DeviceLab12 (14-Day Closed Testing Companion)

After failing closed testing on an earlier project because friends forgot to open the app and dropped out midway, I got tired of chasing people down on WhatsApp and spreadsheets. I built **DeviceLab12** to streamline the closed testing phase:

* **For Devs:** Connects your closed track and Google Group, tracks tester assignments, and keeps progress organized in one central dashboard.

* **For Testers:** Lets testers access Play Store testing links and submit structured daily reports and bug feedback with proof.

* **The Goal:** Making sure testing activity is actually documented so developers have real feedback to cite when applying for production access.

---

### 2. Teleprompter & AI Speech Coach

While creating video demos, walkthroughs, and onboarding videos for my apps, I couldn't find a lightweight teleprompter that wasn't locked behind an expensive $15/month subscription.

* Built a floating, customizable teleprompter designed for smooth camera recording.

* Added AI-assisted speech pacing and coaching cues to help practice natural delivery without freezing or stumbling over scripts.

* Great for solo devs recording store previews, video creators, or students practicing pitches.

---

### Tech Stack & Architecture:

* **Frontend:** Flutter across both apps (custom responsive layouts, Provider state management)

* **Backend:** Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions)

* **Key Focus:** Fast load times, zero UI bloat, and minimal permissions.

Would love to get feedback on the workflows and UX from fellow developers!

For those of you who have multiple apps in production, how are you currently managing the 14-day testing cycle across your releases?

Hi! I made Coche, a simple to-do list for Android. No account, no ads, fully offline.

If you like the app, a review on Google Play would really help me improve it and get it known (totally optional).

Also, if you'd like Premium for free, you can grab a code here. Codes are limited, so be quick:

One user subscribed to my app through an in-app purchase in September. However, it is now October, and I still haven’t received the payment from Google. I have already completed my BillDesk verification.

Could anyone please help me understand what I might be missing to receive the payment?

Showcase I made my first app. It can read the propane level in a 20 or 30lb tank by the sound it makes when you slap it

It's called slappy tank, I released it a week ago and posted in sideproject. It got about 75 downloads then stopped dead. What are some good ways to market or advertise this sort of an app without much of a budget to work with. How many users would be enough to get word of mouth growing it?

I know this is going to be pretty big but getting it started is the tough part.

Help New App problem

I'm working on an app that turns real-life goals into something more like a game. 🎮

But there's one big challenge I'm trying to solve:

How can an app verify that someone actually completed a real-world mission?

I'd love to hear your thoughts. 👀

Showcase I built a free-to-download FC 27 Career Mode companion: find wonderkids, plan transfers per save, and see what changed in every squad update

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Hey, I'm the dev behind FC Career Manager, a scouting app for EA SPORTS FC 27 Career Mode on iPhone and Android.

Every save, I end up asking the same things: where is my squad thin, who fits, what will it actually cost to sign them, and where did I write down that kid I found last window? So I built the app I wanted next to my controller.

  • Find wonderkids and targets fast. Search 21,000+ FC 27 players by potential, age, position, role, PlayStyles and value. One-tap lists for wonderkids, bargains, highest growth and free agents. Save the filters you use every window.
  • Squad gap → scout → shortlist. Start from any club's real XI, see where it's weak, and jump straight into a scout search for that position.
  • Know the price before talks. Each player page shows value, wage and an estimated range of what the club will really ask. Compare two targets side by side.
  • A transfer board for each save. Target price, notes, window and status (Watching → Bid → Agreed → Signed). Each target shows what changed since you added it: rating, potential, value, contract.
  • See what changed in each squad update. New and removed players, transfers and loans, rating and potential risers and fallers, PlayStyle, position and contract changes, all in one list.
  • FC 27 club details. Rivalries and multi-club ownership groups on club pages.
  • Make it yours. Move or hide the home screen sections like widgets.

No account needed to scout. Free to download.

What's the one thing you still need a spreadsheet or a second tab for in your Career Mode save? Tell me and I'll look at building it. I'll be in the comments.

Help Review times in the past 2-3 months have become abysmal

I've been making android apps for over a decade. Vast majority of my reviews have been completed in < 72hrs, most < 48hrs. Rarely did they go on for more than 3 days, usually only during holiday seasons. Something happened within the last 2-3 months, EVERY single review takes 5+ days.

The confusing part is, my app is a game. I can see when the reviewer logs in and when. The app will sit in "In review" for DAYS with 0 activity in game. Then suddenly, a login, and approval roughly 1hr after the login.

So 2 problems, what happened at google to make the "7 day review only for exceptional cases" become the new norm? Apple has every update I submit reviewed and approved within a day or two. Yet google can't manage that?

Problem 2, stop telling me my app is "in review" if no ones even looking at it. Apple at least gives the decency of having a "waiting for review" state and only marks in review when someones actually looking at it.

These google review times are beyond pathetic for a company that takes 30% of my earnings, and gatekeeps my updates. And it's impossible to get any support other than regurgitated AI responses.

Showcase I think I finally found my Screenshots

Thumbnail

After four or five attempts, I have finally designed some screenshots for the store that I genuinely love. ❤️

I decided to include some colorful bucks and coins to accurately represent the real currency of my country, which adds a nice local touch.

Additionally, I renewed the banner to follow the exact same design language, creating a much more cohesive look. I also implemented these same design updates across my entire landing page to ensure everything feels unified.

I would really appreciate hearing your thoughts and feedback on the new direction!
